It would be interesting to see a role reversal with it being a racist white cop instead, but at the same time, it almost seems like a stereotype. I thought Sam Jackson was easily the best part in this movie and he ultimately sells you on the character despite his motivations being a tad week. At any rate, I really enjoyed the movie for what it was.
SLJ was a villan in Jackie Brown, the Spirit, and if you want to get technical, Pulp Fiction. It was just his job, not his pleasure to kill trespassers. I saw only half of Lakeview Terrace on a plane. Never got to see the rest of it. Even though his character was a cop, he can still have charges brought on him; domestic violence, assult with a deadly weapon, and thats all I remember seeing cause the plane started to land when the movie started to pick up..

Back when black women would be sexually assaulted by white men and black men couldn't do a thing about it. I think the reason they gave for hating this movie was strange. Now, I'm from Oregon. We don't care about race--I've actually only met one blatantly racist person in my life, but you meet racist people on the internet all the time--and yes, some of them are black. The movie was bad. I hated the whole racism thing. But Corey (think that's his name) is wrong. Maybe it's true that he doesn't care, becuase he's so busy chasing white women. But I've seen plenty of black men bitch about black women dating white guys or any guy outside of the black race-even while they are doing the same. I know. It's crazy, but I kid you not.

What i agree about is the queen latifa next door issue. If any demographic flibs out more than anybody else about it its black women. I think their are probably less Black men who care about white men w black women as white men care about black men w white women. However, that HAS been covered many times. It's almost cliche, on the other hand a black man angry that a white man is w a black woman is a new plot as far as i know. I agree that it was not very believable, but SLJackson kicked ass.

Samuel L. Jackson is ALWAYS the bad guy. I don't care what movie it is. He's either the good cop gone bad or just the fucked up guy who turns out to be kind of good but is really the bad guy (XXX). He is never the good/nice guy in his movies.
I really think that this role suited him perfectly. The asshole cop with way too many issues to try to pin it all down on race.

I think the reason they gave for hating this movie was strange. Now, I'm from Oregon. We don't care about race--I've actually only met one blatantly racist person in my life, but you meet racist people on the internet all the time--and yes, some of them are black. Like, most the people who had a problem with the inter-racial couple on Frog Princess on a forum were complaining that Tiana's prince shouldn't be some white guy-that it sent a bad message for their daughters, etc.

Jackson's character's hatred towards the interracial couple is because of how his wife died and her being with a white man whilst cheating on him when it happened. The interracial couple thing was basically just an excuse for Jackson to be psychotic and not have anyone in the audience thinking he might have a valid excuse.
Though they could have just as easily found a scary-as-hell white guy to fill the role. They didn't, however, because as the Co-Host said, Jackson is scary as hell.
Doesn't change the fact that this movie was S.O.B. though. This was probably something Jackson did just to have on his resume.
