Sounds on this thing are SUPERB. I'm a professional keyboardist. I play in 2 bands. I work and rehearse with this board often. I bought it to replace my aging XP-30 which I cherish and still own. This Juno almost makes me forget about my XP. Liteweight. I'm in my 50s so I don't need the xtra weight of the older boards. The sounds are just as good as any hi-end Kurz or Yam. I'm playing to mostly people in clubs and bars so trust me, they really don't care about how much u spent on your board!
i have my juno di... newly bought by my dad... my problem is... wen im in my gig.. playing string for my intro den imediately change my patch into piano... the string cuts his sound imediately when i press the piano category... even i step on my hold pedal... huhuhu how is this??? plz help me...
@troydaby Not sure if you can help that man, its called over sampling I believe. You can look up something along the lines on google about 'Juno Di oversampling help' but like I said, I dont think you can do anything about it.
does the di i have LFO? i know the roland juno d does. but im not sure if im missing something or if its just not there. and what about the d beam? does it have settings for it, like volume, or ressance, crap like that? thanks
It's annoying that it looks like a real juno from a distance but sounds nothing like one. Roland needs to wake up and provide the market with a REAL alternative to a vintage synth. VSTi's are far more interesting than most modern hardware so it should be the big guys like Roland trying to capture analogue like the good old days instead of doing what can be achieved in software. If they put out a new Jupiter 8 it would fly off the shelves.
Roland does make an alternative. One's called the V-Synth and the other the SH-201. What Roland has done was take the "exact same" marketing concept from the original Juno series and applied it to "today's" market. The original series provided a cost effective unit based on technology of the time. The current Juno line does exactly the same thing. Naturally they may not appeal to the synth purist.., but are designed for the same purpose as the originals (being a BUDGET SYNTH).
That's a very subjective area though. Keep in mind the only synth (if you can really call it that) that Yamaha makes in the same category as the Juno-Di is the MM6. IMO the MM6 cant' hold a candle to the Di's patch mode (especially for user patch creation). I used to own the MO8, and the Motif ES6.., and I personally like the pianos on the Di more than those synths. Again.., it's a very subjective area.
I've seen many of Bert's vids on the XS, and have played the XS more times than I can count. I have never really been a huge fan of Yamaha's piano patches. IMO they're often too bright, and in many cases very thin sounding. Comparing the Di's pianos with the XS is a little different though. The Di's only 64mbs ROM and the XS is much larger. It would be "more fair" IMO to compare the XS's pianos to the Fantom G. Yes it's true the Di's sounds are based on the Fantom G series and the X line.
have you compared the piano sound of the juno stage and di? I've read a lot of reviews and found out that the stage has better piano sounds.. is it true? :(
btw i ordered a juno di and will get it this october :)
I haven't personally compared the Di to the Stage model.., but keep in mind that Di's 1000+ patches are compressed within 64mb's. The Juno Stage's ROM is 128mb's to its 1000+ patches.
less wave memory would also affect the sound quality of it. right? Anyway, do you have any idea about the korg x50?? a lot of people said, it really has a good sound especially the piano. try comparing it with the di.

ikutaro kakehashi started it right and later settled for sampling and digital technology due to profit and market share.
i hope to see all the roland analogs reinstated...

I got one of these! Amazing sounds in this new Juno! The sonic quality of the Juno-Di is WAY beyond the previous models (Juno-D/Le)

1.would you mind if you watch the video of the yamaha motif xs, (by bert) and try to compare the piano sound of it from the juno di.
2. is it true that the juno di sounds really came from the sound engine of fantom g series?
thanks in advance
