  • The dentist looked at my teeth and said "you need a deep cleaning, boy, that's gonna hurt" I looked at him and said "oh no it's not, because I'm not going to get it done" :P

  • Why does a university upload videos that have probably been over 2 decades old now?

And yea, where are the gloves?

  • sounds like porn music

  • The worst part was that the cavitron shoots out so much water in your mouth and the suction thing sucks at getting all of it out so you end up having to swallow water and/or take breaks so you can empty your mouth every minute or so. But none of it is painful... just a little annoying. Oh and it cost me $75 per quadrant at my local dental school. Not expensive at all and that is with no insurance.

  • @wdmnetwork They should be using a high volume suction. Yea the smaller tube one isn't as effective.

  • I had this done today and it didn't hurt at all. They put topical gel on my gums for the injections and I didn't even know she was putting the needle in. Then the novacaine shots completely numbed up my teeth so I didn't know she was so deep under my gums... it just felt like she was cleaning the surface above the gum. Then after the novacaine wore off I had absolutely no pain, sensitivity, or soreness. In fact my teeth felt better because there wasn't huge chunks of calculus jammed in my gum

  • laser are here now. forget scaling

  • How can somebody with such nice teeth have all of that in between their teeth?

  • Geez this is like a million years old lol

  • I just had this done on half of my mouth. My gums are now bloody and I have to take ibuprofen as soon as I can feel my face fully because I feel discomfort.

  • Sooooooooo going to floss now :-/

  • Umm where's the gloves ??

  • Am I odd because I prefer the old way of using the picks over the ultrasonic water pick thingies?

  • I descaled 6 people till now, some with manual, some with ultrasonic scaler. but the ultrasonic way is much safer....and better,,even much better than the laser one in my opinion

  • I love the 70's soft porn music in the background :)

  • The music hasn't changed.

  • it is a compulsory man

  • I have a tip for all of you who are complaining that this procedure hurts after the anesthetic wears off...brush and floss your teeth! SRP (scaling & root planing) is the hard part...for you and the hygienist. Trust me, I know! Afterwards, if you keep up on your homecare and your 3-6 month appts for cleanings, you will be golden! It's so much easier if you keep up on your oral health than trying to get you back into health. Only floss the teeth you want to keep =)

  • @PandaBear2700 Yeah bad oral habits have gotten me to gum disease at 18. And not having dental insurance for most of my life. I really need this done. My hygienist says if I don't I'm looking at losing my teeth in my 20s. Just wish this procedure wasn't so damn expensive lol..

  • @neecee401100 hey dentists will charge you a ton to scale your teeth. look for a dental hygiene school - they give the same service for much lower cost. scaling in my area is about $200 per quadrant which means i'd have to cough up about $800 for this procedure...found a local dental hygiene school - $34 dollars for the whole procedure! just check with local universities!!

  • can anyone suggest a place where i can have the above facility in delhi...and how much it would cost ..plz tell me

  • Oh but tears were streaming down my face as I attempted to floss :(

  • @TyDollz all the more reason to do it daily!

  • I just had this done TODAY, I would have never imagined thats what they were doing, but it didn't hurt yayyyy for numbing gel :)

  • That music does not ease my uncomfortableness with this video >_<

  • it hurts just to look at it >.<''

  • eek. just had this done today!!!! the numbing shot is wearing off and i'm starting to feel what they were doing to me!!!! they only did one half of my mouth, still have to go back and get the other half done.:(

  • @tinkleferry1 yikes! i have to go tomorrow and have my first session done..i'm getting a numbing shot as well...how bad does it hurt? i'm so scared..:(

  • @JennayRae they should rub your gums down with a novicane type cream first so that you don't feel the shot in the gum. i didn't feel it. only when the numbing werars off after the procedure is done, is when i could feel that they scraped at my gums and in between my teeth. you may need to take a ibuprofen a day or so after its done and they will prob only do half your mouth. it takes like 2 hours. then the dental hygenist is the one who does it but the dentis gives you the shot.

  • They totally added the mellow background music to cover the patient's agonizing scream.

  • Hey docs word of advice leave the scaling up to the RDH please !!!!!! Not to mention that you weren't even up on your fulcrum..... Ahhhhhh

  • I'm so thankful we use gloves now. I definitely would not have chosen the dental hygiene career if it weren't for gloves haha.

  • Medical Language to English Translation: "Scraping off the gunk"....

  • True I am a fruitarian just came home from the dentist and I have tons of tarter n plaque they need to do perio scaling ;((

  • that looks so freakin painful. If it wasn't for that great 70's dentist music I definitely would have moved onto another video.

  • Sweet

  • @RomneyPHONY Tartar is possible on a raw vegan diet. As long as there is a source of sugar for the plaque bacteria. Minerals from saliva harden plaque into tartar over time, and while crunchy foods may help remove plaque from tooth surfaces, some will remain. It's important to maintain a good level of hygiene (brushing correctly and flossing) whatever your diet. A problem some vegans have is getting enough dietary calcium, so that's something to be aware of. :)

  • Yes bigdaddykeef, I once had a dentist who did not use gloved and had clearly just eaten a packet of cheese and onion crisps

  • would this hurt?

  • thank fuck for ultrasound, that looks scary :(

  • fruit has sugar... sugar causes bacteria... bacteria adheres to the surface of the tooth via stains or whatever.. and if it is not brussed or flossed... plaque.. or i guess tartar happens... it doesn't matter if its raw..organic.. or vegan....

  • the subtitles covers most part of the video

  • ey y los huantes

  • Cementoenamel Junction - A quaint little whistle stop just down the tracks a bit from Mayberry R.F.D.

  • plz wear gloves

  • @9815572789 this is an old video as u can read from the video also gloves were introduced latter

  • the michigan curette massacre

  • what year is this?

  • Did he survive?

  • @MrManuelNoriega dieded lol

  • @MrManuelNoriega

die of loosing too much blood

  • Thank God for a cavitron.

  • Can they remove my Algebra too. HA HAHAHAHAHAHA eh, killing myself here. Sorry folks. I know it's a bad pun...my apologies, lol

  • these days we dont use file and we dont plane roots in excess ....grasp and basic exploration is really good in this video..

  • This is an old school video . He is not fulcruming at all so they can videotape. periodental file is not used anymore sickle scaler on root debridement will cause so much pain and bleeding. Nowadays minis are used for this type of mild furcation involvement

  • ouch leveraging action? why not use a crow bar??

  • LOL, very funny video. No gloves and no care for cross contamination.

LOL, smoothing of the root surface like glass, I do not think so, that is old school.

LOL, entering of the Cemento - enamel junction are you kidding me. Why not just take out the tooth then.

  • @Yasminegoll didn't you read the introduction of this vid?

  • i went to get my teeth scaled to day they used some kind of drill or whatever it was cause they sure as hell didn't SCRAPE the plaque...

  • That is called Ultrasonic scaler or Randomly Cavitron. It removes up to 70-80% of calculus and is preferable used for gross quantity of calculus. Hand Scraping is the best and most accurate way to clean your teeth but unfortunately dentistry is a business more then a human profession today. The dentist will not give you more then 45 minutes of cleaning.. All they do today is just cavitron so they can finish fast.

  • @alboss13 why do you think there is such a thing called a dental hygenist????

  • id like this music piped into the dentists surgery the next time i visit

  • the music is super-creepy.

  • its an old video. i recognize that voice from wayback...

  • @jehy5 - lmao dont we all by now?

  • no gloves ???? hygiene please

  • @bigdaddykeef lol

  • @bigdaddykeef this is from the pre HIV days
