My wife had a AN removed on 8-18-08. Her tumor was GIANT...the size of two golf balls (3 cm in diameter, 6 cm long). Her first surgery was 14.5 hours, 2nd and 3rd were over 3 hours each. She came home on December 10th after nearly 4 months in the hospital and a rehab center. She is doing good, but has a long way to go. Facial paralysis is getting better, swallowing is returning well. She had a seizure on December 18th...a totally new experience for both of us.
@OscarbitteninOhio one of the hardest things to go through!! I went through this as well, a 13 hour surgery to remove an AN 4 centimeters back on March 1st 2010...still kicking taking it one day at a time...Bless you wife she is a courageous woman!
Thank you! Your story could be mine except some of my visitors weren't real. I had an acoustic neuroma operation at Johns Hopkins. My tumor was 3 cm, and like you I am deaf in one ear, and like you humor has helped me!
