Funny this is the future of all full size trucks for all you haters out there solid axle is thing of the past just look dodge with coil springs next thing independent suspension so suck it
@uberjorge5737 that is dodges biggest problem with their 1500's. Now you cant tow for shit with em and there was word of them puttin a diesel in. Thats just ass backwards if you ask me. I hope auto makers see the light and continue to build real trucks or we are fucked.
For the record Most trucks can haul way more than 5000lbs. You wouldnt catch me CLOSE to driving one of these. They are useless. I see middle aged men trying to "off road" with these. when they are stuck, I just drive by or pull them out. . 250HP? how do you work with 250HP? Its Pathetic. You can't call a Ridgeline a truck. Its for Soccer Moms and old guys!
The Ridgeline is not a truck, it's a car with a bed. It's basically a modern El Camino (minus the coolness of an El Camino). I'm sure it rides smooth, carries stuff like furniture nicely enough, has nice interior features and gizmos, and gets the family through the snow up to the ski hill...and otherwise suits 90% of drivers' needs just fine. If someone really wanted to do serious off roading in a truck they wouldn't buy a Ridgeline. They would buy a 4x4 Tacoma with rear locker and mod it out.
@cashmab If you want to do "serious" off roading, you wouldn't buy ANY of the trucks mentioned by people in these comments. The ridgeline is by far the most obvious choice for people as far as all round TRUCK goes, (read what the defenition of a truck is). and yes, you can do some off roading. Maybe not as good as some others but then some other fall short in other areas. This TRUCK is top of the line as far as I'm concerned. As long as you consider its weight limits for your applications.
It's a hybrid Boxed latter frame + unibody welded together= hybrid construction. That's why it can tow more then the pilot. 3500 vs 5000. Drive train is from the pilot. Tail gate is dual action, opens like a regular tail gate or l
I love my ridgeline... A lot of peeps hate on them and so many don't know what they are talking about. Let's clear up a few myths. These trucks fo have a frame but instead of the body being bolted to the frame, it is welded to the frame. So it's a hybrid
Far as the HP comparisons go, peak HP is not all that important with trucks as you'll rarely be spinning it at 5700rpm. Large displacement engines make Much more power than the smaller ones through the rest of the rev range.
I just love retarded redneck morons that don't consider this a "real" truck. It carry's 1500lbs it hauls 5000lbs and which is about the same as any mid size truck but retards abound say it's not a real truck lol. So it call most things any other truck hauls on most days AND it's far superior to ANY other current truck as far as comfort and handling. lol.
I have a Ridgeline and I agree it is not a tough truck. It does not have a frame nor a V8, but it is does what most people need, Comfortably carry passengers, haul a small amount of junk in the bed, and is reliable.
I looked at the F150 and the Chevy Pickup. They are more truck then I need and I really don't trust US build quality after owning a Explorer, Expedition and Escort.
I have a ridgeline and i have to agree... not a truck... It's like hondas take on the elcamino. It's comfortable as shit, drives better than any truck I've owned, and has enough room to fit two motorcycle in back. But offroad capable? High capacity towing? semi-decent gas mileage? no.... not even close.
Yeah dude. Ridgeline rides great, has tons of storage, drives good, but can't pull $hit, is built on a car frame, is unbelievably ugly, and sucks on gas.

Obviously its not meant to do anything to the extreme, but it was never meant to. I find it complimenting that you (american POS loving morons) compare our vehicle (the ridgeline) to your vehicles (american trucks and large Toyotas), when they are uncompareable.. they are meant to be functional for the people that do daily light loads and light trailers. Its for people who don't want to pay for American pieces of crap but still get a vehicle that can tow decent amounts of weight.
my "POS" f150 has 20000 miles and is used often to tow a 11500 lb trailer up a 30 degree hill and gets 1500 pounds of wood in its bed down steep slippery mud hills and thru a extermely steep creek crossing and reuns like it did when its new and it drives like a dream i use 1 hand on the wheel, if you tried to tow something "decent" with this vehicle you would either rip it in half since it has no frame or you would toast the motor and transaxle
btw its called a "transaxle" instead of a transmission because it is FRONT WHEEL DRIVE just like its more powerful brother the civic, which could probably tow more then it
As I can see in many tests and videos, also based on some research I have done, this car is a kind of fusion between a SUV and a Truck, with a very good result. It has a very good cargo Bed, with an under-bed trunk, excellente off road capability (maybe the CR-V should get that capability because now it is crap), enough power and towing capacity, besides the interior confort. Since it is unibody and it doesnt have a cabin+cargo bed construction, it will be better in many road situation.
This truck has a locking rear diff. capable up to 40 mph. It is a true 4x4. It is a unibody like the XJ, ZJ, and WJ Jeeps. It does have better quality than most American trucks. It does get better gas mileage. It will have a better resale value. The big 3 were taken advantage of by the greedy unions, which isn't completely their fault and certainly not mine. Will I pay for one? No. They are inferior. I have owned them and never will again......
You're basis for judgement must be incorrect. Its got a better suspension (independent wheel) and better differential with better functionality. And the bed is stronger, has a trunk and it looks better. V8 that sucker and it would be the best truck ever. Your V8 trucks weigh around 1000 lbs more so the power to weight ratio is basically the same. You lose
the reason why american trucks weigh more is because they have frames! they are made to be used instead of trying to make some little asshole city slicker think hes driving a "big bad pickup truck" btw the good ol us or a isnt the only one that makes real trucks nissan makes a smaller but still pretty nice truck called the titan, and toyota makes a very niced and very capable truck called the tundra
Wow, i am surpised that people acually consider this thing as a REAL truck when it is far from it! Every other truck on the market today including, dare I say it TOYOTA, Honda's biggest rival know how to make a real truck. A FULL steel ladder frame and rear wheel drive! Give me a Tundra over that FAKE truck anyday!!
on wat r u basing these 'fake truck' comments? plus dont comper a tundra whit a ridgeline , they are both tottaly different types of trucks
tundra=5.7 381 hp v8
ridge=3.5 250hp v6
tundra=5520 lbs
ridge=4504 lbs
tundra= 10300 lbs of tow capacity
ridge= 5000 lbs of tow capacity try the TACOMA next time if u wanna compare . and just let u know , AWD is always better than RWD off road and on road.
They are a nice ride, and you get trough the snow. If you you wanna go on the top of a mountain... Get there with a helicopter, or with a car built for it. I don't take a Ridgeline at a 100.000$ price ( same as the RAM1500) to the woods... Yes, cars costs shitload here in Norway. H1 is at 200.000$ .... About the same price as a Ferrari.. Don't see a lot of big stones around those cars.. Toooooo bad
No. The Ridgeline is technically AWD, as you cannot switch between 2WD and 4WD, so it isn't a 4WD/4X4. It will automatically stay FWD in normal conditions, and when conditions worsen, it adapts and adjusts for the conditions (meaning, it uses all 4 wheels in low traction conditions). BTW, to really get some traction off-roading, the VTM-4 locking diff does that job to prevent that awful differential wheelspin.....
What a piece of shit. Sell it by a chevy Avalanche. Total knock off anyway, not to mention it doesnt do all that the chevy Avalanche does. Stupid jap junk.
Ghey, ridgeline sucks as a 4 x 4. Wheres the clearance? you just proved that the departure angles are garbage in the video. Any genius knows that solide axles are preferred off road...
zo6freak - If any genius knows that solid axles are preferred off road, then tell me genius, why do the pros remove the solid axles out of racing 4x4s and replace them with fully independent suspensions?
this shows how much you know about offraoding. if your refencing trophy trucks, hate to break it to ya, they have independent fronts and a SOLID 4 link in the rear. The buggies that use independant rear have more than 30" of travel so its more efficient and easier to use. Its very expensive to go independent and have decent travel.
The unibody is the worst type of frame you can use in a 4 x 4. Once you twist it (which is really easy), your fucked. AWD is just enough to become dangerous. You can get through moderate terrain but once you cross into something even remotely hairy, your high centered, out of gear (Low range needed), and you need a locker for stuff an solid, open axle could blow through.
Z06 - Independent rear suspensions are used on the fastest off road trucks and cars in the world. Check out Paris to Dakar or Baja. On the street the same rules and physics apply look at any modern race car or any Vette made since 1963.
If you want to 4X4 thru mud holes with your Grandma a solid rear axle will work just fine.
So personally I would rather have more room to put things then if i really want to off road, ill lift it and be untouchable. i mean hell dosent your truck weigh 4500 lbs in crew cab form? Dosent that seem light for a wannabe 1/2 ton? A single cab V6 1500 pickup weighs that much. In crew cab form, A REAL 1500 weighs any where from 5100 - 6000 lbs or more depending on the make.
The ridgeline is a economic city truck. THATS IT. It has a decent, fuel efficient V6 that works good for stop and go city driving, the AWD is great for rainy, oil coated city streets.
LOL wow, didnt mean to bunch up your panties. Ok well if you want to go there... your wannabe Chevy Avalanche has the smallest sized bed compared to any other half ton. My extended cab chevy is longer than your truck.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Z06 - Such anger, you must have just filled the gas tank on your bloated idea of modern transportation.
Do you really believe full frames and heavier is better?
Unless you are towing a huge trailer or pushing a plow, full frames and over weight gas pigs went out with Disco, why not join us in the 21st century and drive something that makes sense.
Lift kits are useless unless they improve wheel travel! I would opt for fender trimming and larger tires. I wouldn't waste my time trying to make a Ridgeline off road worthy! Where are you going to fit the transfer case with a low range, and if you accomplished that where are you going to find lower gears?Lockers...Don't waste your time.
Dude, wow that was cool you got at least 3" of air there bro. Right on. /sarcasm
I think these rigs are still better suited for street duty, with the occasional trip up to a ski resort or in less than perfect weather. They really don't excel at off road work due to their clearance limitations.
Don't forget to clean the debris from the rear bumper area before the truck has to return to mall duty on monday.
Yeah, actually I own a Ridgeline so I do know ALL about it already.
By the way they don't have all that good of ground clearance. At what? 8.4" do you really consider that to be good ground clearance at stock? It's great ground clearance for jumping over center dividers and curbstops, but as far as off roading goes, that's a tad on the low side for a serious 4X4 truck.
Not necessarily true. The biggest limitation to any vehicle is the one behind the steering wheel.
I drive a Honda Ridgeline, and despite some minor issues, I love mine. It is by far one of the most versatile trucks I've ever owned. It may not exceed in any one area, but it does pretty good.
Mine manages to take me where I want to go off-road.
Funny this is the future of all full size trucks for all you haters out there solid axle is thing of the past just look dodge with coil springs next thing independent suspension so suck it

PS, you dont get near the articulation out of a IRS as you would a solid.
Enough said newbie.

The unibody is the worst type of frame you can use in a 4 x 4. Once you twist it (which is really easy), your fucked. AWD is just enough to become dangerous. You can get through moderate terrain but once you cross into something even remotely hairy, your high centered, out of gear (Low range needed), and you need a locker for stuff an solid, open axle could blow through.

the ridgeline has a low gear 4 wheel drive lock btw

Aren't Grand Cherokee's unibody?

THATS IT. It has a decent, fuel efficient V6 that works good for stop and go city driving, the AWD is great for rainy, oil coated city streets.

zo6freak - FYI, The Ridgeline has one of the best departure angles of any stock pickup truck. I will now allow you to remove foot from mouth.

LOL wow, didnt mean to bunch up your panties. Ok well if you want to go there... your wannabe Chevy Avalanche has the smallest sized bed compared to any other half ton. My extended cab chevy is longer than your truck.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Z06 - Such anger, you must have just filled the gas tank on your bloated idea of modern transportation.
Do you really believe full frames and heavier is better?
Unless you are towing a huge trailer or pushing a plow, full frames and over weight gas pigs went out with Disco, why not join us in the 21st century and drive something that makes sense.

IF YOU DON'T NEED A REAL TRUCK and live in the city.....
asrlb45 4 years ago 3
have you never herd of a lift kit
chrissept21 3 years ago
ive been lookin online forever and the most i can find for this truck is 2"
pimpknub 3 years ago

Citybuildergames - You don't know much about 4X4s, do you?
Let me educate you on the Honda RidgeLine
1 - Very low first gear
2 - Locking differential(s)
3 - Fully independent front and rear suspension
4 - Good ground clearance
5 - Great engine torque thru all rpm's
6 - Impressive entry and departure angles
bmwoilhead 4 years ago
Yeah, actually I own a Ridgeline so I do know ALL about it already.
By the way they don't have all that good of ground clearance. At what? 8.4" do you really consider that to be good ground clearance at stock? It's great ground clearance for jumping over center dividers and curbstops, but as far as off roading goes, that's a tad on the low side for a serious 4X4 truck.

Me too! don't believe the hype, these trucks are very reliable in so many ways.

Cool vehicle, but it needs to stay on the highway..
666hades666 4 years ago
Not necessarily true. The biggest limitation to any vehicle is the one behind the steering wheel.
I drive a Honda Ridgeline, and despite some minor issues, I love mine. It is by far one of the most versatile trucks I've ever owned. It may not exceed in any one area, but it does pretty good.
Mine manages to take me where I want to go off-road.
