It might have worked, but like in Iraq, you have what Vice President Biden (then senator) had referred to as the "water balloon" effect in regards to the "surge" of troops. It worked, violence went down, but violence increased in places where the surges didn't apply, just like when you squeeze a balloon, remove the water in one place but you displace it elsewhere. El Salvador's gang problem started in US, L.A. in particular. Deported gangsters injected the lifestyle into ES. So how can MS be a representation of ES? Really? Killing black gangs? How's that representative of Salvadorians? That's disgraceful. Salvadoreans seriously need to re-examine their past & culture, before the civil war. Anything after that isn't genuinely ES; money (dollar), the buildings (copies of modern cities), etc. ES needs to regain their own cities, culture, dialect, NATION!

The best is to implement new laws to these notorious areas.
Murders = Hang to Death
Kidnapping = no less than 20 years imprisonment without parole.
Having guns without a license should be charge to court = imprisonment
Possessions of drugs above 60grams on an individual should be charge as dealers.
Gangs should be considered as illegal and should be prosecute.
Schools should be made compulsory for the minors. Between 6 to 12 years (Pr.1 - Pr.6).
