@hogwarts90 it's not a movie. It's the original staging of the Broadway/London EVITA. I love the choreography and everything about this original show. The 2006 London revival could not compare. I hope the 2012 Broadway revival is not like the London revival at all. That staging and choreography were so uninspired, compared to this.
"Is that Julie Andrews at 1:39 as an aristocrat???"
@MegansMonster of course not! At this time (1978-1980) Julie was an Oscar winner and had starred in two of legendary movie musicals (MARY POPPINS & THE SOUND OF MUSIC) she would not be caught dead as part of an ensemble of a stage show, even a hit like EVITA.
What movie is this from?

@MegansMonster That is the wonderful Anne Smith. She was the Eva understudy in the Manchester production.

They should of done a recording of this on stage, I've seen it on stage it's so much better than that film

could you post the entire thing of ALW discussing Evita? I love hearing composers discuss their shows.

This is a hoot. They left it out of the movie.

@Rogdavies no they didn't, they're just in actual army uniforms not these weirdo marching band costumes. and the aristocrats are at a polo match

@ronstoppable83 I think it's hard to notice this number for him because it's so different in tone in the movie version.

@Rogdavies The movie sucked the entire life out of the show by removing all the sarcasm and dark humor.
