And let's say the July 1974 intervention was to protect the turkish population on the island from the upcomming genocide from the greek side. I'm sure Mr Fein you share the same concern for every single minority around the globe... let's start from Turkey you seem to know so well. Let's start from handing a veto right to the kurdish minority. Or a veto right to the christian population within Turkey. huh? it makes sense doesn't it? The Anan plan was tailor made for the turks. Legalizing the ocuppying forces and granting citizenship to the 200,000 settlers from Anatolia. No rational human beeing would stay in favor to this plan.
this guys is the perfect proof that cannabis consumption have a major impact on brain cells. notice that after the gaza flotilla 2010 Mr Bruce Fein have restricted many activities of the turkish coalition of america, since he is working now for AIPAC.
I wonder if this idiot has even read the Anan plan? I am a Greek cypriot and i voted NO for the Anan plan .... mostly due to the fact that in the plan Turkey would have the right to interveine with its military at any time?????? who the hell would want that in their countrys constitution?????/ especialy after the 1974 invasion. If the Americans and the English would just leave us alone, we would have re-united years ago... infact their woudnt even had been a war in 1974.

Very good summary of what is going on in Cyprus. Someone should say stop to GC propaganda and raise his voice for the rights of poor Turkish Cypriots.
This person is just as biased and selective in his information as any extremist Greek or Turkish Cypriot I have ever heard! Shocking to say the very least. There was inter-communal fighting before the '74 invasion that lead to atrocities on both sides whether by the Turkish TMT or the Greek EOKA-B fanatics. Each with their own warped agenda of union with their so-called mother lands! Cypriots on both sides died and suffered. It is time to mend the wounds.
@lukiri Have you seen how many biased Greek videos there are on youtube, on this subject?
Mr Fein actually states facts and how the Turkish minority, despite going along with Anan Plan (if they did they were promised some concessions) were IGNORED and what was promised, forgotten. This all came about so that Southern Cyprus could gain entry in the EU and once there, the Turkish minorities rights and what was agreed, was cast aside.
Bias is one thing, deceit and false hope is worse imo.
@TheGazi1972 As I'm sure you are aware the promised concessions have not been ignored outright , it is a current issue in the EU. I am incredibly pro peace and union in a Federal arrangement and I fight for this now. The TC isolation should not continue but you may disagree with this part. I do not believe it should happen through recognition of the TRNC. No matter what of the past, a state formed through occupation and forced separation of people along linguistic/religious lines is not the way.
@TheGazi1972@TheGazi1972 I hope that peace and union can be achieved this year. An arrangement that calms GC & TC fears. A situation where all Cypriots are represented with weighted votes & power sharing with strong cross voting systems guaranteeing moderates on both sides & a shared sense of national ownership. R we so different that we cant achieve this? I have many TC friends - we look, sound & act the same. Should I hate u just because I say Gia & u say Selam or I say Theos & you say Allah?
ripster100 why you so upset is it because the lawyer sold his soul as you put it to the turks and not the greeks,or are you upset that the greek cyps had to move, maybe you upset because the greeks were not successful in killing all the turkish cypriots before turkey got there and you call the turks barbarians,the only ethnic cleansing that was going on was by the greek barbarians.
Mr. Fein fails to mention the most important feature of the Cyprus conflict which is that 200,000 Greek cyp were ethnically cleansed from the Occuppied areasnow under control of the Turkish army. its unfortunate that a lawyer that has been taught to implement justice can sale his soul and defend these barbarians in ethnically cleansing a people that have been on the island for 4000 years...Art culture philosophy contributed to the Ancient Greek thought , that came from Cyprus
Turkey ethnically cleansed Greeks in the North of the island? After 1974 there were more than 20,000 Greeks left in the Karpaz/Karpasia region who couldnt get away. They were allowed to stay and get on with their lives but slowly left for the south by their own accord. Does that sound like ethnic cleansing? Ethnic cleansing is the Akritas Plan.
Whatever your opinions on what happened and what led to the atrocities on both sides during the 60s and then '74, forcing an ethnically Greek Cypriot population out of their homes by violent force, sealing off the north of the island for decades is exactly that... ethnic cleansing. Lets not get confused here.
It seems that these days being a Cyprocentrist and wanting peace in Cyprus means you should believe The Cyprus Problem was caused by certain fanatics and neither side is more to blame than the other. I disagree. I want peace, but I agree with everything this man says as they are the FACTS! and most Greek Cypriots admit to it.
So what exactly are you saying here you hypocrite? I can accept that certain Greek Cypriots and Greek fanatics did commit atrocities but you do not seem to be willing to even acknowledge, let alone accept, that certain Turkish Cypriot fanatics and the Turkish army did a thing. Before I even bother writing a list of what they did I want to ask if you truly believe that. If you do then there is obviously no point in even discussing with you as you have swallowed every bit of propaganda dreamed up.
The most frustrating thing here is that I can't win with people like you. Well, not even win, understood would be good enough. You hate Greek Cypriots because you believe they all hate you and then you reject and attack other Greek Cypriots like me that actually know the truth of our troubled history and are reaching out to you. When will we stop grasping onto the history that suits us and learn from the past and move forward.
@lukiri dude i no ur comments are old but i just want to say not all turks are like that im a turk who has loads of greek freinds both did bad things to each other but from what i have heard and been brought up to the greeks did more bad things to turkish cypriots like kill them in the villeges but we need to move forward like u say
@firat784. Thanks for your comment arkadasim. Both sides naturally bring up each generation with their versions of history. My unbringing in the south was no different but I have chosen to look and research the truth. This is why I believe in a better future for us all together in a unified island with good relations with Greece and Turkey. I accept what horrific things were done by both sides and want to learn from it and move forward. People need to realise this is not a dream but can happen.
I aslo have close Turkish Cypriot and Turkish friends both in Cyprus and London and I am learning Turkish. I have also seen a shift in the mentality of many Greek Cypriots becoming more open and seeing again the common values and culture we share with the TC. I hope this continues and builds momentum especially at a time now that things could finally change.
It's time we acknowledged that what happened in the past is not a reflection of what could happen today in a unified Cyprus. Many factors contributed to those events that would not happen today. At the very least people are now educated and worldly. Not as closed and easily led by false nationalistic fanatics. People see their place in the world by knowing that there is a world out there. Not just a world of Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, UK and USA.
I also take issue by your term 'Cyprocentrist'. Simply attributing blame alone will never get us anywhere. Note that this isn't a method of not taking responsibility. Acknowledging the loses and the pain of the other side is the only way for true reconciliation. Why can't I think as a Cypriot first before anything else? Why do GC as well as TC take issue with anyone Cypriot that says he is Cypriot first and foremost? Why is this seen as weak or unpatriotic or even delusional?
Any mention of the laws broken in the 60's with the Akridas Plan was going on?
Yeah lets conveniantly forget the Greek atrocities and start history invasion onwards.
Anyway getting past my bitterness, no resolution can happen now with all the settlers sent over to swell the population post invasion. We know it's because we don't want to be a minority anymore.
It seems to Vex Greek Cypriots to see the North not 'strangled' and doing ok... No we are not starving or waterless.
# Article 5 - by deprivation of liberty with regard to detainees and missing persons - a continuing violation;
# Article 8 - by displacement of persons creating more than 180,000 Greek Cypriot refugees, and be refusing to allow the refugees to return to their homes.
Why doesn't this "lawyer" talk about this in this video? What I have stated are facts, not opinion, go google the plan. I await your response Fein.
* The Commission issued its report on the charges made in the two applications on July 10, 1976. In it the Commission found Turkey guilty of violating the following articles of the European Convention on Human Rights: 1. Article 2 - by the killing of innocent civilians committed on a substantial scale; 2. Article 3 - by the rape of women of all ages from 12 to 71; Article 3 - by inhuman treatment of prisoners and persons detained;
* The plan absolved Turkey of all responsibility for its invasion of Cyprus and its murders, rapes, destruction of property and churches, looting and forcing approximately 200,000 Greek Cypriots from their homes and property. The Cyprus government filed applications to the European Commission on Human Rights on September 17, 1974 and on March 21, 1975.

EOKA scum and all their attrocities agains the Turkish minority, what happened there?
This happened before Turkey came in and restored peace. This man speaks 100% the truth, the truth that no Greek wants anyone to hear.
Makes me sick that these Greeks try to make themselves sound like the victims when they caused the terror and massacred and raped innocent thousands.
Turkey shows up and protects us and 20yrs+ on, any Greek who dismisses these facts are just as bad as the EOKA scum.

EOKA scum and your holy man Magarious - They were evil and got dealt with.
Not all Greeks are like these scum who ignore these facts, some do admit EOKA was wrong.
Greek like these posters angle for sympathy despite the horrific actions caused by their ancestors. Shameless - but then again you are Greek.
Killing babies, children indescriminantly, raping adolescent girls and women then mutilating them - mass executions.
