Dude, you should do those Bros vs. Pros Challenges. They squat this much usually for reps, and the highest reps win. Some guy got 30 once, I'm sure you could beat that.
i watch this video just about everytime before my leg workout and it gets me pumped everytime i watch it... my goal is to eventually do the same. thanks for the motivation!
why all these dudes squatting this big wieght got tiny legs,,,,im squat 315 for 10 and ive got 31 inch legs (im a bodybuilder), it just shows its not the weight its how u lift it
I am 16 years old and in high school. This is a good lift for you, but I have been working out in the football weight room and can do 405 x 29. Sorry, I do not have a vid and I weight 159 lbs. I still think you did good.
Absolutely incredible. What an inspiration. I've been squatting for about 4 months now and I'm doing 315 for 3 sets of 5. I hope to be able to squat like you one day!
Great squatting man! i just wanted to ask if doing deep squats would affect the knees in the long term cos its something i've been avoiding cos of that and doing half squats x.x
@noobiepro1234 half squats are gonna fuck up your knees even more. do then right or don't do them at all. olympic weightlifters do deep front squats 6x a week their whole careers and most of them have absolutely no problems with their knees in the long run.
Blenderate, could you explain a couple things on your squat to me? How much, if at all, do you focus on bouncing from the hole? What are your most important cues? I much prefer high bar form like yours, but everyone tells me to switch. Keeping vertical shins is damn near impossible for me due to a very short torso (My torso is practically parallel to the ground from forard lean), and its good to see a 600+ high bar squatter. Don't see that too much in powerlifting!
@Blenderate Awesome, thanks! I imagine several years of intense training will help with form just a bit too.Now you take it easy on the drinks tonight party boy they're not good for the squat!! :P
@severedsurvivaI One key aspect of high bar squating properly is to let your knees go past your toes. I know I know, "its bad for your knees." Thats bullshit. Watch olympic lifters squating or doing clean and jerks and you'll see how far they let their knees go forward. You'll need decent ankle flexibility to do this though so its understandable to not get it right at first. I personally think "knees forward, butt down" for great high bar form. "Butt back" is more of a low bar cue.
@dman519 Agreed!! I was stopping just past parallell and trying to sit back with HB, and it just wasn't working. Now I do a small, controlled bounce off the hamstrings (Ass to grass), then explode. Weight on heels is still very important for me to remember because I have a tendency to fall forward easily. Anyway, enough discussion, Time to shut up and squat!
This is as amazing as the form is beautiful. I still can't figure out why you thought 405# to failure was a good idea. I guess you got burned out with sets. Great job, can't wait for more.
@stateballer68 The only thing I would recommend is that you learn how to squat before you give advice. Bouncing out of the bottom is the proper way to squat. As you perform eccentric muscle action (lowering the barbell) your muscles create energy, by bouncing out of the bottom your body uses the energy created, during the concentric muscle action (standing). Going slow causes the amortization period to be too long which results in the built up energy turning into heat and diminishing.
@bigfattrolllord You got all wrong my friend. Platz did 52 reps with 350 pounds, 6 reps with 635. He squatted for 10 minutes straight for more than 100 reps with 225 pounds. This was all done in 1992 video shot. 5 years after he retired. He did 405 x 50 in 1987 with Bill Kazmaier being his spotter in Venice blvd.
Damn!!!! U da Man!!!! U got me friggin psyched,, my Gym is closed right now but i feel like breakin in and doin some damn sqauts,, and I'm supposed 2 be in bed. THANKS BRO.. P-e-a-c-e....
I'll be honest, when I watched the video, when you got to about 15, I didn't think you'd make 26, but pretty impressive. Not a lot of guys do reps like that. I used to do sets of 20 or 25, and anyone who has never done more than the basic "10" has no idea how hard it is on you. When I first started doing them (when I was working out) all I could do was one set and it killed me, and that was with 225.
Leave it to a guy with some of the highest numbers on youtube (405 x 26 reps), to also have one of the best demonstrations of proper--brutally proper--form.
Awesome form. Awesome strength, awesome perseverance. Only people who've tried know how hard it is to fight for reps like that, your legs yielding, cant catch your breath, there were times I've felt I was gonna blackout. A lotta weight for a lotta reps. Respect.
@Blenderate Thanks for the reply. The reason I asked is because I'm just getting started into PL myself and I'm worried about back injuries. It seems a lot of people hurt their backs in some way. Is it sometimes just an issue of pushing too hard when the body needs more rest?
@Schwarzalbenheimen There are a thousand ways to injure your back. If you want to be as safe as possible, do lots of prehab work, foam rolling, stretching, dynamic mobility, etc. But you should still expect that you'll probably hurt it at some point.
Absoutely ridiculously incredibly impressive display of mental and physical strength. To be able to fight for extra reps like that. I know how difficult it is bc I just finished out a 20 rep squat program. It's probably the hardest thing I've ever done. And you do it with A LOT of weight and awesome form.
Don't listen to these dumbasses talking crap on your squats. Your form is dead on and you have superb core strength as well. Your squats are super strong and ass to ankles everytime. first off you can bounce out of the bottom raw, and the point in squatting is to keep ur back straight, the further forward u lean the harder on the back it is, do u even lift?

Yes, because this is the way I've squatted for years. When I have the time to devote to it, I'm going to try going back to a more powerlifter-style squat and see how it works for me, but I have a big meet coming up and don't have time to mess with my form too much.
Oh dude no doubt. Those ain't no bitch 1/4 squats either, thems is heavy-as-shit-ass-to-ground squats, with additional props for no knee wraps or belt. Shit, I'd be happy with 405x2 or 3, like alone 26. I don't think it's ever taken me 3 minutes to finish a set. God DAMN.
the funny thing is the dude giving him motivation says "cmon man, tight stomach" then 2 seconds later he corrects himself and says "tight abs". but look at his stomach xD
I hope you all realise this is a new phenomena, Youtube strength battles will make people train and suffer like nothing else. Some of us won't be able to compete.
Ever!!
Because the competition is worldwide and only so many people have the genetics, determination , heart, or cash for food and gym membership.

severedsurvivaI 1 year ago
@severedsurvivaI I don't think about "bouncing" at all. I just try to keep my speed high on both the eccentric and concentric portions of the lift.
My most important cue on the descent is "butt back, weight on heels". On the ascent, it's "head up, push through with the hips".
Squat with whatever bar placement makes you happiest. :)

maybe you should try to do it slowly
every bodybuilder can handle more weight if he do the exercise very fast
besides if you want to impress us you idiot then try to squat 500 - 600

besides you say u train since a long time

Oh dude no doubt. Those ain't no bitch 1/4 squats either, thems is heavy-as-shit-ass-to-ground squats, with additional props for no knee wraps or belt. Shit, I'd be happy with 405x2 or 3, like alone 26. I don't think it's ever taken me 3 minutes to finish a set. God DAMN.

the funny thing is the dude giving him motivation says "cmon man, tight stomach" then 2 seconds later he corrects himself and says "tight abs". but look at his stomach xD

Awesome display of strength and endurance bro...very, very impressive! I struggle to do 4 plates for 2, let alone 20+ reps.

This is how you squat weight - not these sissy half and quarter squats I see so many guys doing. Sick effort, way to go.
HammerPowered 2 years ago
Now those are some real squats! Not like some of the crappy half ass squats you usually see on youtube. And 405 x 26, nice work!

Fucking sick. This is the weight I plan on squatting by the end of the yr for 1 single rep.
How much do you weight, may I ask.

I hope you all realise this is a new phenomena, Youtube strength battles will make people train and suffer like nothing else. Some of us won't be able to compete.
Ever!!
Because the competition is worldwide and only so many people have the genetics, determination , heart, or cash for food and gym membership.
Well done my man. 5 stars
