@punketa32 because if you live in the US, verizon's DROIDs DO NOT have multi-touch screens, just single touch. To zoom in and out you need mutli-touch enable screens, otherwise impossible.

Get the XT701 it's the milestone, but without any phone company logos. It's made by MOTOROLA.. If you live in the US or somewhere outside Europe, with this MOTOROLA XT701 phone you'll have multi-touch and the cell bands for your country, possible 3g bands match too. At&t and t-mobile 3G US work.

It really makes a very solid impression. I have been pondering buying a touch pro 2. because of keyboard, screen and tilting... but this utalitarian hardware design alone is very tempting to put my hands on. Still, capacitive screen won't allow me to sketch. I guess the Touch pro 2 would be better in that regard.

This guy does to very thorough reviews. His "I vill take over the vorld." accent just amuses me. I am quite interested in this phone. I prefer phones with keyboards for certain. The problem I've found is that phones with keyboards are often hit and miss.

@Ixillius using it comes with 60 day trial of Motonov and google maps .. so it doesnt cost any but if u want to continue using motonav u need to buy it. There are also some not so good free navigatio software.. and some hacks u may want tosearch on google...

Thank you jkk for a great review. As you may know, the Milestone is coming to Canada. It lacks the Google Nav (voice command), and will not have paid apps availale. Although I love the idea of the Milestone, I feel ripped off!

I noticed an instruction for r00t-ing the European version, but will it work for the Canadian version? Thanks for any feedback.

You can enable navigation without rooting ( search on my site jkkmobile . com )

Market enabler needs rooting so we will have to wait for it.. same method might work on your version but you should wait until you get confirmation from someone else.

are you required to slide open the keyboard in order to get the screen to flip to landscape mode or will it do it automatically without opening the keyboard?

Droid is not GSM.. it's CDMA.. so Milestone is GSM version of Droid... 3G HSDPA is still GSM..

The Milestone doesn't have GoogleMapsNavigation yet.

When Google implements it though you can just turn of normal internet with Quick Settings and leave WiFi turned on.
