  • Well, I agree. Someone would have to be a pot-head or under the influence of something to think that a burial ritual of any kind is killing people. But this is not an argument put forth by any atheist I know...

It doesn't follow for me. So either I don't understand this video or it's a strawman or this is some form of Christian humor that I don't get.

  • @CatDarkeye

Your comment on my video " Evolution Religion Cares - Atheism Fails " has been rejected for the following reasons –

It does not contain any valid criticism or offer any reason why you suggest the video is fallacious.

In this sense it is simply arrogant and boisterous ramblings.

  • @NAEIRNBRUFORU Wrote vile and disgusting abuse

Another example of atheist morality. Your brethren must be so proud of you.

  • I wrote a comment pointing out many fallacies of logic hdregmore uses and didn't say one thing about religion and he deleted it because he wasn't smart enough to defend himself.

    Looks like I win.

  • @ButItSureIsFun6949 What a load of shit. Your comment was deleted because it was disrespectful to religion.

It contained no argument at all.

    Looks like you lose. Again.

Why I do not know. Clinically insane perhaps/

    Wake Up atheism.

  • Those are not the points Atheists make. They are talking about actual killings. Them blaming those killings on religon can be refuted easliy enough without changing their aguments to something completly rediculus.

  • @LinkMEP Sorry, you have lost me. Are you referring to the millions of people that were killed by atheism just last century?

They far outweigh any damage done by religion.

  • @hdregmore I said "Them blaming those killings on religion can be refuted easily enough" which means I do not think there are any deaths caused directly by religion. My issue was that you changed the anti-theistic arguments to be something completely ridiculous. (Not all false arguments are ridiculous). Deaths caused by atheism are indirect, like deaths caused by religion. One can make a good case for them being direct, but not without making the religious deaths direct as well.

  • @LinkMEP I still do not follow you. Are you referring to some imaginary argument in the cartoon? It is actually just a cartoon.

You are correct about misdeeds done in the name of atheism and religion, however that is not really what the video is about.

  • @hdregmore Usally when people make political cartoons they express their own arguments through said cartoon.

  • @LinkMEP This is NOT a political cartoon. Take from it what you will but don't over analyze. It is meant to be light entertainment. Nothing more.

  • I don't agree with whay you say. I WILL KILL YOU!!!!!

    That is religion

  • Hdregmore, I suppose you've forgotten about the Spanish Inquisition? Or perhaps Salem, Massachusetts has escaped your memory.

  • @Ghastly98 Wow, isolated events in an almost perfect history of religion. Perhaps you would like to compare the number of people killed during the Spanish Inquisition to those killed by Stalin. I think it is thousands compared to millions. Goo one Mr Atheist.

  • @hdregmore "Wow, isolated events in an almost perfect history of religion."

Wow... do you honestly REALLY believe that?

  • @nagasanada Yep, that is right. Religion has been an incredible influence for the betterment of mankind.

Just look into the history all fields of endeavour. Not to mention all the wonderful work that it has done to held the needy in all societies.

  • @hdregmore I really dislike how you use the term "religion". Not being specific at all. So... "religion" have an almost perfect history... Guess those ones that demanded human sacrifice was all fine then.

It would be fair to say something like: "I think *insert specific religion name* surely have done more good than harm". But even then... no one qualifies as having an "almost perfect history". We should be happy many religions have gotten far more tame now in modern times.

  • @hdregmore Stalin did not kill in the name of Atheism. Stalin killed for other reasons. Simply BECAUSE he was an Atheist does not mean that Atheism is at fault for his mass murder. The Spanish Inquisition DID kill in the name of religion.

And btw, Atheists bury and cremate their dead too.

  • @Ghastly98 The Soviet Union was the first state to have as an ideological objective the elimination of religion[1] and its replacement with atheism as a fundamental ideological goal of the state.

    Wikipedia

Of course he did not hold up a banner saying "'atheism" when he ordered that people be killed. That is naive to suggest. However since atheism was a basic tenet of communism it was definitely done with that philosophy in mind.

And btw, where did I say they do not?

  • @hdregmore I'd like to add that Stalin later allowed the Russian orthodox church to teach religiously. Why? "The poor are blessed" so why would you ever want to not be poor? It's an excuse for the state to take you belongings.

  • @DMAN123223 Again -

Soviet policy toward religion was based on the ideology of Marxism-Leninism, which made atheism the official doctrine of the Soviet Union. Marxism-Leninism has consistently advocated the control, suppression, and, ultimately, the elimination of religious beliefs.

A new period of persecution began in the late 1950s under Khrushchev. The church had advanced its position considerably since 1941, and the government considered it to be necessary to take measures in response.

  • @DMAN123223 From 1959 the religious persecution operated as -

    Massive closure of churches

Closures of monasteries and convents as well reinforcement of the 1929 legislation

Closure of the still existing seminaries and bans on pastoral courses

Recording personal details of all adults requesting church baptisms, weddings or funerals.

No teaching of religion to children, ban on children at church services

The forced retirement, arrests and prison sentences to clergymen who criticized atheism

  • @DMAN123223 Sounds like Stalin was not following the atheistic party line about the eradication of religion and religious people.

  • @hdregmore You need cite evidence for such assertions. Wild generalities are not accepted here.

  • @Ghastly98 I am not an atheist, but I really got to agree. If this was true, then surely the other atheist leaders that the USSR had after Stalin would surely have been just as bad. Fact is... NONE was. Not even close. Gorbachev for example was very friendly to believers and campaigned for religious freedom. We had some really bad kings here in Sweden who were Christians, and yet NO ONE have claimed they did all those bad things because they were Christians. They were just very bad people.

  • @nagasanada The issue is not how communism broke down. It is the ideals on which it was built. One of which was atheism. The initial model of communism which Stalin ruled over was responsible for enabling to commit his actions.

  • @hdregmore The issue is what a huge generalisation this is. Atheism is only the position on one single question: No belief in god(s). Were Theism is the opposite. So where am I going with this?

Take the Vikings for example. A savage warmongering people who were pro slavery and human sacrifice. And they were theists. Therefore should this now be a warning for how bad theism is? No, of course not! Just that particular religion they had. That's why i find that sort of reasoning to be unfair.

  • @hdregmore I actually saw what he wrote here before you deleted it. Don't remember all exactly, but was statistic for the "bible belt". I would have MUCH rather seen you try to refute his claim rather than just delete it

  • @nagasanada Okay I have checked it out. The finding from 1999 were

25% of all American adults have had at least one divorce

27% of born-again Christians have had at least one divorce

24% of all non-born-again Christians have been divorced

21% of atheists have been divorced

21% of Catholics and Lutherans have been divorced

24% of Mormons have been divorced

  • @nagasanada 25% of mainstream Protestants have been divorced

29% of Baptists have been divorced

24% of nondenominational, independent Protestants have been divorced

So we are talking about similar numbers anyway. There are 2 main reasons for the low atheist percentage.

    1) It constitutes a low percentage of the population anyway.

    2) It may be due to the influence of socioeconomic and educational factors.

    Anything else?

  • @hdregmore Now wasn't that better than just deleting it and giving no answer to it? :)

  • @nagasanada I did not delete it because it referred to the study. I removed it because not only did it make erroneous conclusions about the results but it was also abusive and belittling toward religious people.

That had nothing to do with the data. You on the other hand asked the question civilly.

For some reason atheists believe that people of religion should not be afforded basic decency when being addressed. That is not tolerated here.

  • Wait! He got nailed to a cross and tortured for me? this happened 2000 years before my birth? and as soon as i am born i already have this debt? The debt can only be paid by ignoring evidence and reason and relying squarely on faith? what kind of a messed up system is this?

"Science adjusts it's views based on what is observed. Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved."-Tim Minchin

  • I am not sure what non-believers you have spoken with. But this is an argument I have never heard in support of ones disbelief. I have however heard the argument that religion has through history, something you should study by the way, has been the rout cause of many wars. Just look into the history of your religion. It is not all as pretty and nice as you might think.

  • i don't get it, explain?

  • Eh... I don't get it. Why would burying and burning dead people count as killing?

  • The Christian that shot another Christian in the head yesterday proves that religion is not perfect.

It is true it is not nonsense i'm sorry that you can't handle and feel the need to censor me and delete my comment.
