  • beat that rocket fuel lmao i was thinking the same thing.Try adding a little sulfur

  • Well my kno3 is only 99.8% pure and 60/40 KNO3/Sugar burns a lot faster than your rocket fuel. With 60/40 mix my rocket just blew up instead of flying lol

  • bro thats the kiwi spirit.... blow shit up

  • also, i'd suggest just making your rocket in this order step: 1,ram top clay plug... 2, ram 90% length of rocket rocket fuel... 3, ram clay plug... 4, Drill through to start of top plug (drill bit 20-30% width of rocket i think), sorry if thats exactly how you do it, it just looks like you do it differently in your video which may cause the lack of distinct power.

  • buy a cheap shit coffee blender and blend all of your ingredients (separately or it gets messy), they will bothe become super fine dusts that has a burn rate nearly comparable to gunpowder i've had sometimes.

  • if you wanna find it easier, paint it red

  • I think a smaller hole in ur nozzle. it will give you more thrust. but... it will more likely cause ur rocket to explode. lol. i agree with AKAtheA.

    good job though. ^^

  • hey instead of the cat litter, is there an alternative?(plz reply)

  • @hellkid94 well go to your hardware shop and just ask for a clay tipe of something that dries quickly and gets VERY hard.

  • @hellkid94 Cat litter really is the best. Try water putty.

  • nozzle too big?

  • Holes to big try 1/4 inch hole! or 8 mm, the size hole your useing is for 2 inch PVC pipe, and if you want to know where thay go then dont shoot them off with a over cast white sky or paint them black or red,

  • Potassium nitrate/sugar is great for making smoke bombs.

I've never tried rockets with it before.

  • cows on the background...

    4:47

  • Don't use PVC it's to heavy, use paper rolled in PVA glue, and make the Nozzle diameter smaller next time to increase thrust output...I design and launch Sugar rockets as well in Auckland NZ

  • @Shado8888 yep defs you cardboard with pva, so lite and strong.

  • yea, u shud carMELIZE THE MIx first

  • you only use kn03 and sugar? or do you use iron oxide?

    Do you melt youre mix?

I mean before putting it into the tube

  • you had the first one stuck into the ground to hack

  • I am also located near winton and making rockets. Would you be keen to meet up and share ideas?

  • hello, what is kitty litter?

alguém poderia me dizer que diabo é kitty litter?

  • You haw to mach sugar.

  • howdy cowboy:P

  • thanx for sharing. take care of your hands.

never mix charcoal with kno3n. charcoal can contain traces of phosphorus which gives a very dangerous, self-igniting mixture that can blow up anytime - within seconds or after a week.

  • @schl0tte Depends on the the charcoal, most charcoal is just fine, and is mixed with KNO3 extremely often, hell charcoal, KNO3, and sulfur is your basic black powder formula..

  • isn't that the same rocket the Iranian's just tested a couple weeks ago? LOL

  • I found a way to make it stronger instead of drilling all the way thru just drill 3/4 of the way thru

  • Comment removed

  • sheep shagger you couldnt see a god damn thing, was you having a wank watching those cows while trying to video tape this worthless peice of crap, i will never get the wasted 5 minutes of my time back

  • nn si è alzato da terra e hai detto che era un test ahhah

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • horrible igniter

  • do you use grains? what should i use and what ratio

  • the first one looks like what mine allways do , i cant get lift. can you help

  • use kno3 n sugar..

make sure u use fine sugar n fine kno3 (recomended), mix all that in ratio 20 gram kno3 n 11 gram fine sugar....

then put the mixture in PVC tube, or similar (yeah u know)...n pack it as packed u can...then

make hole (make sure the hole is centered) other wise it will not lift up or fly...

    try it...

  • n one more thing, make sure the measurement of the stick (balsa, etc) that u use is not to long n not too short....

    just make it "addorable"...

  • make a smaller nozzle so it will direct the energy better but dont make it too small or u will make a bomb

  • That was pretty cool but that flash powder recipe at the end is not flash powder at all. Flash powder is 70% Potassium Perchlorate and 30% Aluminum Powder. Nice rockets thou.

  • LOL.... NICE BOOTS....

  • i have a nice big piece of land too :) but its been windy a lot so i'm postponing the launches for when the wind stops, or when it rains...

  • excuse me hypoxia not hyponia

  • The Reduction of KNO3 isn't toxic at all, just take a look at the reactionequation:

    5C12H22O11 + 48KNO3 -> 36CO2(g) + 55H2O(g) + 24N2(g) + 24K2CO3.

you'll get 3 gasses, CO2; not toxic it is there where every combustion is, H2O; is just evaporated water so not toxic; N2; 79% of the air we breath consist of N2 so i think not toxic.

but don't breath the smokes of this combustion because YOU'LL DIE of hyponia ( too less oxygen) en the smokes of burned plastic (very toxic)

  • You guys, the potassium nitrate has to be "pyrotechnician grade". There's different grades of KNo3. Like table salt "sodium". there's the cheap grade you put on food and there's a grade that's superior (500%) pure but will possibly kill you if you consume it. The same goes for "pyro chemicals". I know, i've been making pro-amateur skyrockets and composite solid fuel rocket motors for my 6-18 foot rockets for over 15 years.

  • I'm not a chemist, or a smart ass, but how can something be 500% pure?

  • lololololol. good question.

  • Nice vid mate, nice rockets and i really like your idea on the remote fireing system ***** stars for that but by the way, that stuff you where saying is flash powder it isnt, it looks more like a BP type comp without the sulfur. nice work on your rockets tho mate :)

  • 5* for such a great place you live in, i'll break a limb to be a resident there, freedom and landscape beyond description man!

  • Just curious here, what does the corn syrup do? and how do you mix it all?

  • cant even c it the f@#$ing clouds and light.

  • Is KNO3 illigle in australia and dairyNZ

where did u get yours from

  • nah its no illegal, you can get it on this website. auspyro (dot) com or (dot) org. they deliver it straight to your door, its mad

  • just use stump remover?

  • we can get ours from trademe or from a gardening store

  • kno3 fumes arent toxic but burning pvc IS very toxic.20mm pvc 70mm long with a 5 mm core right to the top plug should get a few hundred feet, make sure the plugs are tight though, around 15mm thick. exploding pvc will rip holes through clothing into flesh, how do i know lets just say "from testing"

  • i just done a test in the house with sugar and KNO3, it makes alot of smoke, and i was breathing it in for quite a few minutes trying to air it out. it made me feel dizzy, but im still here!

  • So ur saying don't inhale it

  • is KN03 fumes toxic

  • yeah, ive heard it can slow down ur heart rate till it stops =/

  • KNO3 fumes are not toxic, at least when you're burning it with sugar. Slowing down your heart rate, no, you're thinking of potassium chloride.

  • can u use potassium sulphate?

  • no, it doesn't work as an oxidizer.

  • wtf are you talking about?? stump remover is about 98% kno3

  • Fjrt, I was trying to answer to height198cm who asked "can u use potassium sulphate? " and I said that is not an oxidizer. I don't know why my message didn't show as a reply to his message.

  • can it with kalkamon saltpeter

  • haha zeker een nederlander, nee het kan niet. Je moet een pure en sterke oxidant hebben geen mengsel van iets. Maar een zuivere stof!

  • how do you make the electronic inflammation??

  • have acess roomin the tube have more fuel and make the end of the tube closer to the ground

  • Ok it tells you at the end of the vid lol i should of watched it all first.

  • Good work, what mixture are you using i use 20g of kno3 and 11g of suger.

  • I use to make fuses for home made bombs by mixing charcoal salt peter and sulfer and rolling it up tight in paper like making a dooby it worked really well .

  • Create a mivie to tell how do you do the fuel please,

  • Excellent video and work on your rocket motors. It looks like you need a little extra power just at the begining take off. Try putting some iron oxide in your mix, if possible just at the begining of your motor. I think this will get you air born a little easier. You probably know better than I do, but it is just a suggestion. Nice job though, keep up the good work.

  • Cheers for that!

  • hey mate ill tell you what i do i use a 25mm pvc pipe that is 95mm long and i have a kitty litter plug on both ends that is 15 mm long and i use 60grams of kno3 and 33 grams of icing sugar (or 2 oz of kno3 and 1 oz of icing sugar) and i also compact it very hard i was having the same trouble as you and i found that the harder i compacted it the more thrust i was getting...also to launch it i strapped a piece of dowl to it and then stuck the dowl in a pipe so it shoots out of it with ease

  • i seem to get too much thrust from my 20mm, they always CATO, try using 65:35 KNO3:SU and ball mill it for a while or use a mortar and pestle, make the nozzle about 5mm wide, this should fly.

  • If your engines explode, it may be because the fuel is not compressed enough or (maybe) because the hole drilled in the fuel is too large and the fuel burns in too much volume.

  • dont you mean 10 cm?

  • I wondered is anyone would pick-up on that spelling mistake ;)

  • lol when i saw that i was like, wow tiny rockets... and i use 10 cm casings to

  • where do you get corn syrup from or what could you use other than corn syrup

  • New World Supermarkets normally sell it, it's used in baking. You can leave it out (increase sugar content)but the solution seems to melt and mix in the pan better with it.

  • Im in Auckland City, where are you guys

  • Central Southland, way down at the arse end of the country where no one lives :-)

  • hahaha, I didnt think life exsisted south of Auckland...OMG its a miracle...

  • did you just use a sparkler? lol thats what i do. it sux having no fuse in australia :/

  • I found half a sparkler works great. I have been trying to make my own with cotton string but they burn very slow. I need one of the machines that wrap cotton thread around the BP core.

  • You have a great facility for testing there, large field covered in white clover, lots of room.

Any testing with no CATO's is good testing.

    Great video.

  • btw add red iron oxide to the fuel and it will burn faster

    JUST BE CAREFULL!

  • try to put t in a bottle or pipe instead of sticking it in the ground

  • r u lighting it with an oxyacetylene torch? I should try that

  • Just LPG!

  • also loose the stick rocketry isn't fireworks :P, you should consider building a rocket to reuse (nose cone, fins, glad wrap roll tube) that will make your rockets fly lots better :)

  • oh yeah you need to put the ignitor at the top of the core (very top of motor),(one reason the first one didnt work?) they are different to the black powder motors and burn from the top down

  • wow really cool..i'd love to get into making rockets and things. im doing engineering techology this year and we do some work on rockets but i think its only like air pressured ones :( but just curous what do you use the corn syrup for, and the charcoal is that made finely

  • The corn syrup helps bind the fuel together, also when you heat the sugar it seems to stop it burning in the pan. The charcoal is ground very fine. To make it properly you need a "Ball Mill" which i'm working on at the moment.

  • mix some red iron oxide into your mix to get a faster burn time and in effect more thrust ;)
