You can´t buy lemurs . The trade with these protected animals is strictly prohibited (at least in Europe). By the way, lemurs live in troops an need a lot of space. So lemurs live in captivity only in zoos (...like ours- we do animaltraining in a zoo as an enrichement for the lemurs)

@wwwkattasde You can buy ringtails here in the USA, mostly from Florida. You have to live in that state and can't buy them outside of the state. I know a lady in Texas that sells them. I am sure to get them in the state where they are sold, the sellers had to bring them from other states. It is a law that you can't buy them out of the state where they are sold. I am sure people do though. The lady in Texas sells hers for $1,800. She spays and neuters them before she sells them.

This is not awesome. Any natural intelligence might find out the solution to this problem as fast as the lemur... the problem comes with us. our intelligence is unnatural and so we are. That's why we are amazed by the lemur's direct deduction intelligence.

How stupid might we go... and how wrong... that's the question, not how intelligent the Lemurs are. They are far beyond us.

I don´t know. We are animal-trainers in a zoo in Germany. In Germany it is not allowed to have lemurs as pets.

I had a ringtail lemur,and it was a cool pet,however,i recommend a female...they'e less aggressive...also you need to have alot of time for her. I had a male and he was great,but next time i'm getting a female...they will love you very much..also,if you plan on having kids,i would recommend waiting on getting a lemur,til the kids are 5 or so...my lemur was jealous of my newborn son and tried to attack it...we had to give the lemur away...

@bartman67041 The lady in Texas spays and neuters hers before she sells them. She also removes their canine teeth, I think. I can't remember the ones. It makes them not so apt to hurt a person. They are pretty passive from what I have seen and been told if they are handled when babies.

It is not illegal to have one in the US, but you do need to check with your State for it's own laws. I have a good friend that has one. I am actually babysitting it for a week now. and yes they are soooo much fun

yeah, they love them. But we feed them only, when we want them something special to do, because raisins are very high on calories. The ordinary treats are lemur pellets.
