  • Wonder if they could make a multicellular prokaryote?

  • Awesome video

  • THIS IS COOL

  • I want to see Ross on QI. :<

  • Out of curiosity, do you happen to know why yeast would evolve from multicelled organisms to single celled? I don't think I've ever heard of that kind of transition!

  • When (not if ;-P ) are you going to do some sort of a full blown documentary movie where you'll be the narrator, and will cooperate with some other people (hopefully scientists) for the graphics, music and all that?

  • @1234doawee That's good to hear :-) twitter, Facebook & tumblr links are in the description :-)

  • I read this study, but when you explain it out loud its so much more exciting! Fb fan page?

  • @marcmerlin I always refer to the case of moths in Manchester evolving to become black, within a couple of generations, at the time of the industrial revolution & coal pollution :-)

  • @inuyashaxx Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into a decent mic setup :-)

  • @Antoniodaboss98 Thank you :-)

  • @thewaffleironn I use a wide variety of sites, magazines & journals; New Scientist, Nature, Space.com, Live Science, Daily Science, nasa.gov, popsci, discover mag, independent Wordpress & tumblr blogs, numerous mailing lists & press wires. I'll put together an official recommended reading list soon :-)

  • VERY interesting news!

  • Interesting, cell life is all about symbiotic relationships.

One of the biggest problems is how the early cells survived.

If there was oxygen they oxidized but with out it they would die due to ultraviolet radiation.

  • Next morgan freeman right here.

  • Where do you get your science news? To be honest, I get most of my science news from you, and I'm wondering if there's a certain website or magazine you follow, or if you read science journals.

  • I really appreciate your videos, this topic in particular, since it is a demonstration of evolution in action. (As if the emergence of drug-resistant bacteria weren't enough.) I do think that findings such as these further undermine the creationist position, "no one has ever witnessed macro-evolution". It's truly fascinating to see how the field of evolutionary biology has been extended from a historical science to a laboratory one.
