  • This song hypnotizes me . I lost my brother 30 years ago today .. thought I'd listen to some good music . Thanks

  • Of my list of concerts I wish I had been able to see, this is one of the top 10.

  • It's too bad all history lessons in school weren't this good.

  • His head was smaller then!

  • Live rust is my favorite live album

  • THUMBS UP FOR CORTEZ!!!!!

  • only neil can pull this off, amazing

  • Nice guys

  • Neil said turn it up! INCRED

  • What's with the Jawas at 2:34?

  • @PadreArnaldo He hired these roadies, The Road Eyes to do the stage management for this concert. Awesome I say. The is whole concert is fun to watch Neil breaking the rock boundaries for those times!!

  • @PadreArnaldo I remember having this album when it came out and there were a lot of pictures with the little guys running in the album. Thought this was really cool back then and so original.

  • Neil Young is so good even the Jawa's are Rocking!

  • @SchoolinYou frank zappa takes farts on hendrix and page and clapton, now im schoolin you!

  • @MrDjsketch frank zappa can go suck a dick

  • I remember going to many Midnight Shows to watch Rust Never Sleeps. Over and over. Before you could buy the DVD, or look it up on YouTube whenever you wanted. I had a 1971 El Camino, that was starting to decay and I painted "Rust Never Sleeps" on the tailgate. I was a Neil Young fanatic back then. Great memories, great Artist, great great music.

  • LOVE IT, depends enough loooooong!

  • cracked sent me here.

  • Thanks to ol' Neil I now think Hernán Cortés de Monroy y Pizarro is a pretty cool guy and doesn't afraid of anything.

That Moctezuma guy sounds like a bit of a puss and a weiner though.

  • @deretsun it's ok, he got lots of poon :)

  • Go Habs Go! ahahah

  • Cracked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Hey guys, theres another vid of this where the sound doesn't suck. ty for posting anyway.

  • Been looking for Zuma on vinyl, and after listening to Live Rust in its entirety I'm adding it to my list as well.

  • @tacozzrgood15 Those two are amazing, real treasures!! i've started to listen really carefully Neil Young a year ago. I love him. One of my favourite artists. The first song that i have listened was Cortez the Killer, got addicted! Then i found my fathers vinyl collection...i have both Zuma and Live Rust, i was in shock! I really like vinyl, and is good to know that there are others who likes it too.

  • Fucking sick and all will be/ Still chills me to this day. Love it!!!!

  • 100 % SEX!

  • if u dont like this song dont call yourself a music fan

  • @frfrhome314 Agree

  • Great performance! I saw the movie in 1979 and I have since always been shocked but the power of that song.

  • this is the stuff everyone should listen to. Neil Young and Crazy Horse. This is a good song. And the dislikers know nothing of good music.

  • What a killer performance of a killer song.

  • dislike this...eat a remington

  • Grazie di esistere Neil.

  • MORE MORE MORE .... Post all of it .........

  • génial

  • a subtle majesty can be found in his playing

  • I remember this tour at Richfield Coliseum , Crazy Horse Lives...........!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There used to be a, in my opinion, better live version and video of this in concert from back in the day. It started far out and zoomed in showing the crowd and I believe had a crow on atleast one frame in the beginning. I believe the video might have even been in black in white. Does anyone know what video I'm talking about? If so I would love to see the posted or find it. Thanks

  • Jawas!

  • Why the man who plays guitar has a jersey Canadian from Montreal?

  • @keven1111 Because Neil Young and his early bands were from Canada.

  • wiped out, do we need any other music types?

  • What's with the Jawas behind the curtain?

  • @Commodor63 Neil likes to have fun. Came out when Star Wars was big.

  • It's a well known fact that the Aztecs performed some of the most brutal acts of human sacrifice in known history, I think that Young knew this and was writing a type of allegory. This song could very well be about the loss of innocence which we all experience at a young age and how, in the end, we were never really that innocent. That would explain the lyrics about not knowing when one lost one's way. But that's all just speculation on the part of a fan with a degree in History. Fantastic song

  • The white man has always tried to destroy cultures in the name of religion

  • @makalavena MAN has always tried to destroy cultures in the name of religion, regardless of skin color.

  • guitar porn !

  • A Clash of two different cultures. It's within the heart of men to be part of their fabricated constructs for the status quo must be maintained and advanced at the

    cost of the oppressed.

  • "War was never known"NOT TRUE.Still an amazing song, but i'm just saying.Tribes thought amougnst each other.

  • true rock and roll

  • HE can make his guitar cry!

  • serieus ma wel nog bij het beste dak al em gezien

  • Watching and listening to this magician at work makes the stuff coming out these days seem like a waste of time.

  • He offered life in sacrifice, so that others could go on.

  • Cortez el pinche matador. El Chingon!

  • Take that Hernan Cortez!!! You bastardized Mexico!!

  • Best song.

  • the couplet of powderfinger and cortez from this concert is among the greatest in rock

  • @pbesmer Yeah man, when I'm jamming to live rust and then powderfinger kicks I just start shaking as my body prepares to get rocked.

  • @pbesmer preach. i have to stop myself from overplaying my vinyl "Live: Rust" gotta pass it on down.

  • youngs greatest concert ever!!!!!!

  • He came dancing across the water, what a killer, what a killer man ...

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I didn't know neil Young had aliens working for him

  • are those jawas? 3:08

  • @TheHumanComa RoadEyes

  • This is seriously one of the most underrated songs ever written

  • theres not many people in music that can make u stop and think just because of a song one of the greats

  • are those MONKS?

  • Neil and "Ole Black"- the only two things that are natural mates for life!

  • NEIL IS ....are those druids or JAWAS?

  • @TheMoonunit13 They're called Road-Eyes, instead of roadies.

  • @ROKinCullen However Star Wars was released the summer before this show.

  • NEIL IS

  • I saw him play Tingley Coliseum (on his birthday) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, sometime in the 1970's !

    :>)

  • Devil, if you're reading this come and get my sou,l cause I'm selling it in exchange for having the chance to live the sixties and seventies. If it is not asking too much, I would also like marry Neil Young (:

  • @jeebsh Devil can have my soul so I could play guitar like that :-)

  • Makes me cry. Neil communicates to my soul with his music.

  • Who plays lead guitar on this one?

  • @kaisqais

    Neil Young

  • que buen tema por dios.. primera vez que lo escucho!

  • Neil, I have loved you since 1971, and I still love you today. Thank-you, for all of the fantastic years. Please keep being our voice. Love,M.A.H.

  • the maker blesses this with all of his or her glory - this is why we live...

  • What a jam!!

  • This is archetypal Neil Young, it has a dreamy unearthly quality like he's just reaching out for strands of energy from the Cosmos which he's channeling through the music. It's FLOW.

  • To me...the best song from Neil Young...simply amazing

  • And still it goes on. Rainforests??!

  • Young needs more recognition as an amazing guitarist. Granted, his name is well known, but more people need to hear his work like this!

  • @TakeItEasyC6 people who want a life in rock n roll need to take neil young classes..... leaves todays wannabes for dead

  • @clunk09 I salute your wisdom, sah.

  • @clunk09 neil & dylan are the 2 best singer/songwriters ever. neil & santana are the 2 best guitarists ever w/neil number 1. emrson, lake & palmer is the best musical group of anytype ever. my opinion; but, when it comes to music I'm very opinionated. and hooked on the 60's & 70's.

  • @myron2d No, it goes Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and then Eric Clapton as best guitarists ever, no exceptions.

  • @SchoolinYou Stevie Ray Vaughan is better than Clapton.

  • This is one of my most favourite songs ever!!!

  • Larry Robinson was in the band?

  • I haven't seen this clip in over 30 years. That was great!

  • X paola 6661

  • A work of art...9 people who disliked are morons & are listening to old Milli Vanilli albums

  • ...wow, he was so thin! His wife sure fattened him up! lol!

  • oh, to play rhythm on a Les Paul while Neil takes the lead...

  • Comment removed

  • ...well, is hard to write what this masterpiece gives to me...no words to say except the Em7,D,Am7 chords which I ever need to hear when i take my guitar and start playing Neil...to me RNS is the best version of this piece of art!

  • @androprimo right on - right on - right on - dance across the water my friend...

  • This right here damn near brought a tear to my eye anybody know of other music along these line this shit is excellent

  • Smiles

  • I love you Neil, would you marry me? ;)

  • best fuckin 9:24 of my life

  • @FRMOutsideSpace Same here mate - F****ing captivated. Cool when you can make a masterpiece look easy

  • This song was banned in Spain according to the Decade notes. I wonder why. In any case, that 3-LP, or double-tape package, or twin-CD set will always dazzle me in a way that few ever will.

  • @max2006mydog Weld version is great also but only to be found on my Weld CD VHS. PBS just did good story on Cortez in Conquistadores 4 part series. 2 to go.

  • hate was just a legend, war was never known

ha, great song but no historian

  • @theloff2 great comment, but no poetic comprehension

  • @dodecopus great poetic comprehension, but like it or not this is a feel good story- not fact that many take it for

  • @theloff2 I agree, songs are not a reliable source of historical facts. I interpreted that the lyrics in question imply the violence which occurred by the hands of Native Americans pales in comparison to the violence that occurred by the hands of Europeans.

  • @dodecopus sure europeans often cut out the still beating hearts of sacrificed virgins

give it a rest,,human beings are violent animals be they white black red realy white or what ever. ever since caine raised up and killed abel nothing new hath been created

killing enslaving raping (and even some nice shit too)

  • @dodecopus : What about Vietnam, North Corea, Afghanistan? Is that still the fault of the Europeans?

  • @Mishulyna I'm not denying that Native Americans were violent. However, Europeans are responsible for the genocide of millions of Native Americans. I would even venture to say that this song could be interpreted as a metaphor for modern wars. I don't think that these wars are the "fault" of Europeans but the tradition of oppression, imperialism, and large-scale violent warfare certainly continues by the hands of the US government, which was founded by a bunch of rich, white, European men.

  • @dodecopus : some Europeans killed other Europeans in the "cold war", the problem is: HOW WE STOP THE WARS?

  • @Mishulyna stop being apathetic? I don't think anyone has the definitive answer to your question.

  • @dodecopus The cultural devastation is the true sadness of this song.

  • 9 people dislike this? 9 people who have never herd a good song in thier entir stupid existence. 9 people who should never have the right to hear a song or see an amazing band. 9 people who need to hear 2 words from the other 1082... FUCK YOU

  • what a story what a song cortez what a killer

  • This is the ultimate, raw, version of Cortez the Killer - what a killer!

  • Jawas in the background, Kevin Bacon style, jaja, I don´t care, Neil Young is a fucking Jedi Master!!! I love his work!

  • Cortez killed 8 persons

  • WHERE'S DANNY?

  • @Dyslexia3 you mean Danny Whitten? He died in 1972, this show is from '78.

  • @Dyslexia3 Listen closely..He's there

  • I bought this DVD off of Amazon a few weeks ago. Worth every penny. Definitely pick it up, even if it is a little bit odd, what with the Jawas...

  • Masterpiece, awesome.

  • Cover is not better, This iz de shit man, Such a cool beautiful sad song.. long live the horse!!

  • Cover is not better, This iz de shit man, Such a cool beautiful sad song..

  • neil young is a stud and this is one of his best songs. but this song is one of few songs throughout history where i believe a cover is better then the original artist. Dave Matthews Band - Live in Central Park is a better version featuring Warren Hayes from Allman Bros.

  • @ctownmatt1considering dave mattews can't sing, nor play electric guitar, why would you make such an outladish comment.

  • that song makes me listen and listen it again and again all the time.... just perfect :X

  • anyone get the reggae feel at the end?

  • Neil Young is the most talented all around musician of the modern music era. Some do individual things better, but neil does them all incredibly well. more so than anyone else

  • Maybe the jawas are dancing because they like cortez THE KILLER!!!!

  • How can 7 people not like this? It's a relaxing song that reaches into your soul, it brings up a welling feeling inside you, one that says you can do anything. It brings you harmony, relaxation, inspiration. I could die listening to this song, it brings peace to me, it's a fantastic song that shows bands like Dragonforce do not represent rock, and that rock is much more than picking up a guitar and strumming some notes. No, rock is much more, it's about soul and passion. This song has it all.

  • CRAZY HOURSE

  • kickass brother! truth is sad...

  • glad to know theres still people out there that knows good music, neil young rocks, been listening to his music for years

  • 7 dislikes?!? what the fuck is wrong with you 7 musically retarded fuckwads?!?!

  • Now, I love this song from a historical perspective. But Neal, really, you want us to respect a culture dominated by the FEW at the top impelling the masses to slave and "die along the way"?

    Both cultures were corrupt.

Hands reaching across misunderstanding should contain no weapon.

  • who is warren hayes?

  • I like the Larry Robinson's jersey

  • thank you neil young for making this song so warren haynes could play it better

  • @KSEsch434 dude! not cool

  • @KSEsch434 warren hayes is a throat gobbler compared to neil young

  • why are we talking about the fucking rhythem guitarist?

  • @CKNYoung cuz he's bad ass,thats why he's in Neils band

  • Just one thought WOW

  • I did acid with neil, i think

  • @Bluessontlavie you think lol

  • @Calvakins lol, yeah it was either neil or my neighbor bob, I can't remember for sure
