I recently bought a snes and purchased this game, man its tuff i can go to the second last level on expert but the boss is really tuff you need the copper or gold armour to stand a chance but for the rest of the level's its all memory,timing and patience, beleive me. One of funnest game's for the snes i think.

@SuperTensaZangetsu The bow is awesome, more often then not you get hit when you are jumping to try and hit the enemy, so a weapon that can hit enemies without having to jump is very useful, plus with the bonus from the armour it's very powerful. Trying to get past the red demons without the bow is very hard. Then again the daggers are pretty good also. I think we can all agree though that the magic amulet SUCKS.

Dude wtf, the Bow/Bow upgrade is the second best (following dagger) weapon in this game man.

Excellent speed, B.A. range, demolishes Aeriel enemies, etc. Weapon was intense bro.

yes i beat the game today. anybody who needs any tips send me a reply or a private message. btw when you get to the level where the princess first tells you about the bracelet, dont give up when she sends you to the first level. the bracelet will appear in a treasure box in the first level.

note: in order to get the bracelet you have to talk to the princess in the second to last level for ir to appear in the first level

I remember being weirded out by the music as a kid when I first played this. I was used to games having more of an electronic and beepy sound quality (like the NES and Sega's systems) and the warm, fuzzy digital voices of the SNES were pretty strange to me at first.

Ha, I remember playing this game for the first time when I was 7. I played through most of it with the fairy bracelet until I got to the first dungeon level. When I beat the first two, I was glad to have finally gotten to the last boss THEN the princess tells me that I needed that stupid Fairy Bracelet and to go back to the start and find it again.

I was not a happy camper, needless to say.

Actually it was more difficult than you think.....Of course it was easier than the Sega version, but this game was a real challenging game, specially to keep Arthur (the player) with the Golden Armour.

now that really confuses me, iv played majoras mask and its a great, intuitive game. You are given a fair amount of time to respond to enemy attacks as well as a health bar that can increase as you go further into the game.

In this game there are overwhelming amounts of enemies, precision jumps (that you have to do with stiff controls), traps that you probably can only pass by memorizing before-hand and you are only allowed one hit per life. I'm sure you've gotten more game overs on this.

yeah of course its a great game, but that time restriction of 3 years (72 minutes or something?) is a major drawback. for example I was fighting the third dungeon boss and i had just a few seconds left before the moon would hit Hyrule (was Hyrule?) and I only had to hit the boss 1 time but the time ran out. I was so frustrated that I threw the game out of the N64 and hid it under some stuff in the cupboard. Before I contiuned playing some weeks later :)

Super GNG: I got it as a christmas present around 1992 or so.. and was just amazed by the graphics and of course the music of the game. I've beaten it within 1 week. The only frustrating thing is the "jump engine" ;) with no ability to correct the jump width in mid-air, but I got used to it. There were really harder games around. Phalanx on SNES, urks! But it's just my opinion here. :)

P.S. I know that you could slow down the time in Majoras Mask, still, was kind of frustrating. Ocarina of Time is clearly better imho. :) Both games have a cool atmosphere. Not en par with Link to the past on SNES which is still my all-time favorite Zelda, but still, great :)

im not familiar with Phalanx but I assume in there you could at least take a few hits before you die

altho i guess difficulty really just depends on the person...some ppl find twitch games easier than strat games, vice versa and so on for other genres.

I tend to agree with you, different people  think the game is more difficult or less... I think SGNG is not so hard. Ghost'n'Goblins os C64 is a different story. I only advanced to the second level (if at all) before I could play played through with a trainer. Or Dragon's Lair 1. Phew, didn't beat the first level, only on Youtube I saw how the game progressed.

Ghosts'n'Goblins on the C64 was probably the easiest of all the Ghosts'n'Goblins ports, enemies all had a simple pattern (like that demon half-way the first stage) easy to see. Try the ZX Spectrum version, Aside from the 9 lives enemies had more irratic behaviour making it almost impossible to play.

I also never made it past the second level on the C64, but on the Spectrum I couldn't even get halfway the first stage! Even the Amiga version which is more true to the original arcade I could get to the second stage...

Hey 5mwa. First of all, you aren't going to get this game for free unless you steal it. Secondly, this game is "Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts", and unlike the first two games, this went straight to SNES and was not in the arcades.

Unless somebody had a custom arcade of some kind, you played either Ghosts 'n Goblins or Ghouls 'n Ghosts.

So, do yourself a favor and find yourself Capcom Classics Collection 1 for PS2 or XBox. It totally kicks ass, it's only $10-$20, and it's got all three games.
