Nice video, this really explains a lot. I was thinking - maybe the furtive pygmy is called a pygmy because he/she was so small compared to the size of so many others - Smough, the ancient dragon, titanite demons, Sif etc. - and that's why humans were able to make it this far - and then you as the Chosen Undead make the statement "Size doesn't matter"
@FantasticHermitCrab i think all beings other than dragons were considered "pygmys" in the age of dragons. when the first flame appeared, those who found the lord souls ascended from that status and bacame gods, but the furtive pigmy found the dark soul, which could only show its power when fire subsided. thats why he never stoped being a pygmy IMO
pretty intresting lore - i love how the lore is presented in dark souls - a verry good video - but it could be so much better with a little bit of editing,backround-artwork,meabey drawn by yourself, seems you can draw pretty good, and then just a voiceover.that would be awesome but its good enough as it is,its just a thought.
@Quelaag That was me who wrote that comment and deleted it. I wrote it late at night and thought it was unclear so I deleted it and planned on rewriting it today. I had thought that maybe the dark sign was created by the Gods to give a reason for the humans to send those with the sign to the asylum, and only descendants of the pygmy would not go crazy from going hollow because they inherit the dark soul. I plan on visiting Kaathe on my current playthrough, that should clear things up for me.
There was a comment asking if it was possible if the Dark Sign could potentially be caused by God - but I think it was removed or something? I'm not seeing it. :'C Regardless, Kaathe elaborates on the origin of the Dark Sign.

@Moremooremore Just because her goal was the same as Gwyn, doesn't mean they were not at odds with one another. Especially considering many of the knight's weapons say that they hunted the demons created by Izalith. Also, I suggest looking up the dialog with Kaathe. He mentions some things about the darksign and the age of man. I can't recall the quote exactly.
@Quelaag Oh that and her "location" is very distant from Gwyn. Seems strange that two people with the same goals would be that far apart. She's quite literally on the opposite end of the map.
@Quelaag It seemed to me based on the lore that the knights hunted her demons after she turned into the Bed of Chaos; meaning, after she became a monster and lost control, the monsters she birthed began rampaging. Just not enough info to infer what the Witch's relationship was to Gwyn, exactly. They way I saw it, they were part of the Big Three Gods, and may have had a bit of rivalry (esp. since the Witch's daughters followed her like the Knights followed Gwyn). Thanks for posting the videos! :)
So correct me if I'm wrong. Gwyn needs humanity to kindle, which keeps him alive(?), and thus he created a religion that sought to destroy humanity (and the undead?). Sorry I'm confused >.<
@Ombrenuit So the world has different "ages" depending on who is in power. During the age of the dragons Nito (the dead), Gwyn (a God), Izalith (a powerful witch who becomes the mother of demons), humans (the pygmy), were all oppressed by dragons. Gwyn and his group found fire (where they found it and how it came about is supposed to be vague). This gave them power. They beat the dragons. Gwyn became ruler and which became "The Age of Fire".
@Ombrenuit But if you think about fire (or the qualities of fire) it requires food for it to stay lit. In the game, we learn that humanity acts as this food. We find that humanity is dropped by humans (pygmy's decedents). Gwyn and his uncle created a false religion and tricked humans to hunt one another down (way of the white). He would send clerics on missions to keep his bonfires lit using the humanity that was gathered. He also imprisoned those with the curse (or in Rhea's case repent)
@Ombrenuit We also find that humans (with the dark sign) have the ability to survive without fire - where as most organisms have become dependent on it to stay alive. Therefore the dark age of man can begin if the fire goes out.
If I were your boyfriend I would never ever ever walk in on you while recording a video. Then maybe I'd give you a nice foot massage as you whispered sweet nothings of Gwn in my ear =P

Also with how some of the covenants work could reflect. It was the person at the top, that actually knew the truth. everything is kept hidden.
@tharbk01 Yep. That's the way most empires work. Or even most agricultural societies who try to expand. Hell, even most sciences or schools of thought have issues with being blurred by an academic's agenda - usually to maintain power.
@Quelaag Yea I am quite scared in terms of what i believe haha. @WanderingFool100 That's what happens when you discuss social science models and religion while also trying to be respectful of people's beliefs. Science does nothing to disprove religion - that would be IMPOSSIBLE as the premise of religion is that its based on faith of an unseen / untouchable world. However, there are some societal things that conflict with stuff and blahblahblah. In short: Your teacher doesnt have an agenda. Its just hard to teach that material @_@
Gods convinced man that the Dark Sign was a curse not a gift. I cant exactly agree with this. If you have the dark sign you will inevitably lose your mind and become dangerous, it happens several times in the game with perfectly healthy and seemingly well adjusted undead, the dark sign item itself says this will happen. I mean if the undead are ticking time bombs only capable of maintaining their sanity by taking humanity from corpses its hard to believe that they wouldn't be oppressed.
@DrProfessor69 The dark soul allows humans to no longer become hollowed once the age of man occurs. I mention this in the video. I suggest looking up the dialog with kingseeker kaathe if you're curious :)
@Quelaag Oh no I understand your point on the outcome I mean this purely from a back story point of view. What I'm trying to say is that the Gods wouldn't have to manipulate man into fearing the undead, they were clearly a menace.
@DrProfessor69 They were a menace - but the dialog with Kaathe says otherwise and that Gwyn legitimately feared the age of man because it occurs at the cost of all other life.
@Quelaag I understand what you're trying to say - no doubt. But Gwyn isn't realizing that his age of fire could potentially be the cause of the dark sign's outbreak. (Its mentioned in the prologue that it was fairly dormant until the first fire began to fade).
I disagree with the Undead curse being something you're born with, Solaire made it sound as though its something you could contract, like an illness. And I'm pretty sure the thing that made Pygmy so special, and what makes you so special, is you and Pygmy have the Dark Soul which prevents you from going hollow. I was under the impression from the opening that all Undead have the Dark Sign.
@UltraTien It doesn't manifest itself until later - but if you listen to the dialog with Kaathe he says that everyone with the darksign are essentially the kin of the pygmy. There are genetic traits that are like this. For example: My family has genetic disposition to diabetes, diverticulosis, and alzheimers - yet I wont get them until I'm older. Also, you become undead ONCE you get the dark sign. It prevents you from dying. If people with the dark sign didn't hollow -
@UltraTien Explain how most of the asylum prisoners are hollow/ Explain how the knight who gives you the EST flasks hollows when you return to the asylum later in the game. He specifically mentions of the curse of the dark sign. There's also the opening cinematic which shows the fire maiden examining a hollowed corpse.
@Quelaag I'm saying that people with the Dark Sign do hollow, but you're a special case cause you have the Dark Soul, not cause you have the Dark Sign. I'm saying that just cause they have the Dark Sign doesn't mean they have the Dark Soul.
@Quelaag I have gained humanity from Frampt. On my way towards the Catacombs, an ooze of black fog flew from his mouth and into my character. 1 humanity. Also, there is a pattern towards getting "random" humanity from fighting enemies. I believe you can harvest humanity by fighting all the enemies in an area, and when you have killed enough/an unknown amount, you will recieve humanity.
Frampt does not actually give Humanity to anyone. When a player in another world kindles a bonfire, the last and next player to rest at that bonfire gets a bonus Humanity. I'm pretty sure that's what happened to you. Also, you are right about getting Humanity after killing a certain number of enemies.
1. The Furtive Pygmy has nothing to do with the Dark Sign. The Dark Sign is possessed by all undead in Lordran. The Pygmy's difference is that he (and his descendants) will not hollow.
2. There are characters other than the deitys who show signs of immortality (such as Alvina and Nito, though they both have deific status). Perhaps even all undead since the age of fire.
3. The witch of Izalith tried to recreate the first flame.
@ihasmario The undead curse only appears on humans. If that weren't the case, there would be other creatures in the asylum. I said that Izalith tried to recreate the first flame.
@Quelaag And where have you made the assumption that the pygmy is the progenitor of all humans? Unless you're going to make the game into a symbolic representation of the evolutionary destruction of homoerectus, I can't exactly buy it.
There are human characters in the game who are not undead, as they are not within Lordran (For example, Dusk of Oolacile. It is also possible that those from places such as Astora and Carim are not undead as well).
@ihasmario Watch the dialog between the player character and King Seeker Kaathe (the darkwraith covenant leader). He tells you that you are the pygmy's descendent. I don't think this is a commentary on evolution - I think its more like the setting for Ico. The pygmy found the dark soul. Certain humans get something called the dark sign.
@Quelaag Kaathe is not a King Seeker, his title is Dark Stalker, iirc. He does tell you that you are the pygmy's descendant, but if I recall correctly, only if you are in posession of the pendant. All undead in lordran have the dark sign, I don't think they have to be related to the pygmy at all; Taking havel for example. Havel is confirmed undead - because he has hollowed. However, Kaathe says that those who are of pygmy descent cannot hollow, ergo Havel cannot be descendant.
@ihasmario Not everyone in Lordran has to be undead. I never said they had to be. There could be explorers or crusaders or missionaries who are normal humans. Dusk of Oolacile is an EXTREME exception. We don't even know what / who / when / wtf she even is. She only briefly elaborates on her world and its destruction.
@Quelaag Likewise, not all undead have to be a descendant of thte pygmy (take nito, for example, the FIRST undead, he doesn't look human to me).
If you'll humor me further, if it is Gwyn's status as god that allows him to keep the first flame burning, then how is it that you, the player are able to do the same in the Link The Fires ending? Unless, of course, you're both human, and it's your humanity that fuels the fire (same as kindling; gwyns fear of dark, your desire to succeed)
@ihasmario I'll humor you all night, baby. To be honest, I think they chose their words poorly in the overall development of this game. For example: Hollowing, undead etc. I believe when they went for Nito's concept - they meant for him to be more of a living organism with an affinity with the dead. But there's seriously SOOO little information on him (aside from gravelord descriptions and crusades by necromancers / pinwheel) that its hard to say 100%..
@Quelaag Don't hit on me you silly girl. The entire translation is terrible.
So few are able to make the distinction between undead and hollow. The fact the bonfires tell you to "reverse hollowing" and "you're practically hollow", when the PC is technically unable to hollow (via the dark lord ending, and arguably the others), adds to further problems.
I suppose one would assume that 'hollow' refers to 0 humanity, but then you have to wonder how Logan went hollow.
@ihasmario You'd also have to wonder how you're not a raging insane zombie at 0 humanity - and why many NPCs (like the soliare) say "Oh you look far from undead!!! :'D". The only NPCs who mentions your state are the crestfallen warrior and Lautec. :\ Then Nico said I looked raggedy when I was decked out in Oolacile's armor. Boo hoo.
@Quelaag Oswald of Carim also mentions your state. "Fancy seeing ou hollow" and "It's good to see you are preserving your humanity" are his words, I believe.
I don't think it was Gwyn's status as a God that allowed him to be the one to create the age of fire / rekindle the first flame / link the fires. I'm sure anyone could have linked the fires. Its the idea of linking and kindling all of these bonfires through out the world benefits his society. Fire is the overall -- er -- energy source? I cannot articulate exactly what it would be since it has ineffable qualities that don't translate well. And I'm terrible with words.
@Quelaag On the subject of Gwyn, the distinction between Lord of Cinder and Lord of Sunlight is easy to make (one possesses a lord soul, the other does not). However, the distinction between The Dark Sun and Darkmoon is harder to make; one would assume that Darkmoon is his true title, given his affinity to sorcery, whilst the Dark Sun refers to his deific title and lineage (as well as his crown, which coincidentally covers the eyes)
@ihasmario Shit I disliked your comment when I meant to like it. Stupid youtube. Yes. I agree with you on that one. Gwyndolin has the most depth in terms of his relationship with Gwyn and his feeling of responsibility toward Arno Londo. For someone who was raised as the opposite gender - he takes his roles in life very seriously. The Blades of the Darkmoon / the dark sun. Blahh. I'm getting tired. I don't remember my point with this post.
@Quelaag Not saying transgenders don't take themselves seriously. :V This whole post came out wrong. I'm going to go lay down now. Goodnight mario. Keep poking holes in my videos so I have something to respond to when I wake up!
@ihasmario The interesting thing about the human ending is that although you're releasing humans from their oppression - its at the expense of almost all of the other life forms as they most likely need the fire or have become dependent on it. Too little is known about the conditions prior to the age of fire except for that prologue.
@Quelaag like all literature, there is room for personal interpretation. It would not surprise me, based on their status as "imperfect dragons", that the primordial serpents (or perhaps there is just one, since it is always referred to as "the primordial serpent), were responsible for leading Gwyn et al to the lord souls. The soapstones are interesting, as well as the final area (Kiln), as it seems to suggest a time phenomena that has created an infinite number of lordrans.
@ihasmario Indeed. The kiln blows my mind. I'm not one for metaphysics, time travel, multiple dimensions - it turns by brain into a tangled ball of yarn. But I did read, and enjoy, the soap stone descriptions. I really do like the idea of the players all being potential time lines. I also like the fog theory someone on here came up with (I believe it was multi door knob on my channel page) about how fog distorts time which allows the games to have dreamlike relationships with one another. Dunno.
@Quelaag As a huge believer that item locations tell a number of stories in DeS and DaS, one has to wonder if the blacksmith in Anor Londo is he Hawkeye Gough. He's not human, obviously (he's a giant like many other inhabitants of the otherwise deserted Anor Londo), he sells a number of specialised ranged ammunition (iirc most blacksmiths dont sell any), and the Hawk ring is amongst his things
@ihasmario That's an interesting idea. Though he could have happened upon the ring the same way Sif guards the hornet ring, or Zena happens upon boss armor. Though that would explain his mortality, and it would be a nice reference to greek mythos - only he should be a cyclops and be friends with Artemis. I like to think Hawkeye Gough is the drawing of the archer guy in the art book who was left out of the game. (Classy chap with a giant crossbow)
@Quelaag I was under the impression that those archers were prototypes for the sniper crossbow users in Sen's fortress. I don't agree that it could have been gough, on the account that the dragonslayer arrow mentions that the arrow was used by gough and his archers.
@ihasmario It was just a light hearted assumption. I'm assuming all of Gwyn's knights would have had fanciful armor like Smough and the black knights. Though wouldn't the dragonslayer bow be too small for the giants? It's quite large, but it seems like it would be way too small for that blacksmith.
@ihasmario Interesting. I'd be interested if the word in question refers to the size or an oni/troll/physical being. Japanese doesn't directly translate into English and they could simply be referring to the size.
@tjorna3 nope. they're kinda similar, but if you say they're sequels From software will get angry at you and punch a puppy or something. the stories are completely unrelated. (or so from software says)
@Quelaag awww i miss you too. :P And you havent made any mistakes that i saw. Its more a matter of personal opinion which is always debatable to SOMEONE. But i prefer it that way because it gives us different viewpoint on the same focus ^_^
Atm i took a break from DS. I hit NG++ at soul level 398.......yea im good :P
Youve been doin a great job with the vidz tho. Ive been watching (and hitin the like button) all of them. Graveyardshift .......nuff said right? 8D
@Valisk01 :D Fo sho fo sho! Well I'm glad you're still watching. Thanks for all the likes too. I was worried the change in content would be a bit weird for some of my original subscribers.
@Quelaag its actually very welcomed. The EpicNameBro and sonicandamy channels are bothdoin good playthroughs with good (or funny) information. But you have the only channel to my knowledge that attempts to delve into the deeper more subtle story elements within the game. I think your channel is more what the creators wanted from the fans.
@Valisk01 being soul level 400 at NG++ isn't good in my opinion. i'm in my ng++ right now, (only) SL 125. i think you farmed too much. and i'm not a pyromancer or some crap, just a dude with a sword (and iron flesh, lol)
@lamenotcool i didnt farm bro. I beat the game legit twice at SL 118. After that i was helping confirm exploits with the dragon head stone etc. Was gonna try for the level cap but an asian dude neat me to it. Go figure? :/
@Quelaag haha! well, we're talking games here, not fighting tournaments.
invading people is like a lottery i just found out. invaded a dude, mopped the floor with his face. and got 860,000 (!!!) souls! i'm pretty sure it wasn't legit on his part but whatever, i'll take it!
little brotip for everybody on their NG++ (that is, with a normal (150- ) soul level) take the crystal ring shield with you EVERYWHERE YOU GO! i just solo'd the four kings for the first time. (well, witch beatrice helped)
@Quelaag I dont always agree with some of your insights on the game lore, but thats natural for diverse and intelligent people. That said, this one i agree with 100%.
Gywn was an evil bastard >_> I also think that the knight solaire was kinda like lelouch from the start of R2. Amnesia+implanted memories-his god power=a pawn for Gywn to use. In this case to influence humans to serve. I think solaire originally had issue with Gwyn's treatment of humans and voiced his oppinions.
@Valisk01 Contribute more damnit. Most of the things I've been discussing about the lore comes straight from the item descriptions. If you catch me making a mistake - let me know. :)
What I didn't get is why Petrus wants to kill Rhea. He said he dumped her in the tomb of the giants to die because she's got a ton of humanity on her (her corpse will drop 7 humanity) and also "For the little madam is not worth her salt without her family name." Which means he has some sort of grudge against her because...? That's the part that bothers me. His intentions are really obscure, unless I missed an important item description or flavor text somewhere.
@MichelKobayashi Not that I know of. If you kill him he also has her talisman on his body. He just seems like a greedy asshole. (If you arent a knight or cleric - but you join his covenant - he will try to get you to bribe him for information). Just kind of shows what people will do in order to please a god. How insincere behavior and a sense of entitlement can ruin something that's intended to be good. People take things to far. etc etc
Nice video, this really explains a lot.

DrProfessor69 3 months ago
@DrProfessor69 The dark soul allows humans to no longer become hollowed once the age of man occurs. I mention this in the video. I suggest looking up the dialog with kingseeker kaathe if you're curious :)
Quelaag 3 months ago
@Quelaag Oh no I understand your point on the outcome I mean this purely from a back story point of view. What I'm trying to say is that the Gods wouldn't have to manipulate man into fearing the undead, they were clearly a menace.
DrProfessor69 3 months ago
@DrProfessor69 They were a menace - but the dialog with Kaathe says otherwise and that Gwyn legitimately feared the age of man because it occurs at the cost of all other life.
Quelaag 3 months ago
@Quelaag I understand what you're trying to say - no doubt. But Gwyn isn't realizing that his age of fire could potentially be the cause of the dark sign's outbreak. (Its mentioned in the prologue that it was fairly dormant until the first fire began to fade).
Quelaag 3 months ago
@Quelaag
"Be you brave knight or depraved slave, the Demons will snatch your soul, then you'll go mad.
And those who dare cling to their humanity are hunted down."
This is spoken by the Dregling merchant in demons souls, i think its an interesting line especially the thing concerning the humanity.
MultiDoorknob 3 months ago
I disagree with the Undead curse being something you're born with, Solaire made it sound as though its something you could contract, like an illness. And I'm pretty sure the thing that made Pygmy so special, and what makes you so special, is you and Pygmy have the Dark Soul which prevents you from going hollow. I was under the impression from the opening that all Undead have the Dark Sign.
UltraTien 3 months ago
@UltraTien It doesn't manifest itself until later - but if you listen to the dialog with Kaathe he says that everyone with the darksign are essentially the kin of the pygmy. There are genetic traits that are like this. For example: My family has genetic disposition to diabetes, diverticulosis, and alzheimers - yet I wont get them until I'm older. Also, you become undead ONCE you get the dark sign. It prevents you from dying. If people with the dark sign didn't hollow -
Quelaag 3 months ago
@UltraTien Explain how most of the asylum prisoners are hollow/ Explain how the knight who gives you the EST flasks hollows when you return to the asylum later in the game. He specifically mentions of the curse of the dark sign. There's also the opening cinematic which shows the fire maiden examining a hollowed corpse.
Quelaag 3 months ago
@Quelaag I'm saying that people with the Dark Sign do hollow, but you're a special case cause you have the Dark Soul, not cause you have the Dark Sign. I'm saying that just cause they have the Dark Sign doesn't mean they have the Dark Soul.
UltraTien 3 months ago
@Quelaag I have gained humanity from Frampt. On my way towards the Catacombs, an ooze of black fog flew from his mouth and into my character. 1 humanity. Also, there is a pattern towards getting "random" humanity from fighting enemies. I believe you can harvest humanity by fighting all the enemies in an area, and when you have killed enough/an unknown amount, you will recieve humanity.
Carnophage 4 months ago
@Carnophage
Frampt does not actually give Humanity to anyone. When a player in another world kindles a bonfire, the last and next player to rest at that bonfire gets a bonus Humanity. I'm pretty sure that's what happened to you. Also, you are right about getting Humanity after killing a certain number of enemies.
NUYgU42536 4 months ago
Lots of error.
4. Greed is a human trait (Lautrec confirms)
ihasmario 4 months ago
@ihasmario The undead curse only appears on humans. If that weren't the case, there would be other creatures in the asylum. I said that Izalith tried to recreate the first flame.
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag And where have you made the assumption that the pygmy is the progenitor of all humans? Unless you're going to make the game into a symbolic representation of the evolutionary destruction of homoerectus, I can't exactly buy it.
There are human characters in the game who are not undead, as they are not within Lordran (For example, Dusk of Oolacile. It is also possible that those from places such as Astora and Carim are not undead as well).
There are other creatures, both immortal.
ihasmario 4 months ago
@ihasmario Watch the dialog between the player character and King Seeker Kaathe (the darkwraith covenant leader). He tells you that you are the pygmy's descendent. I don't think this is a commentary on evolution - I think its more like the setting for Ico. The pygmy found the dark soul. Certain humans get something called the dark sign.
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag Kaathe is not a King Seeker, his title is Dark Stalker, iirc. He does tell you that you are the pygmy's descendant, but if I recall correctly, only if you are in posession of the pendant. All undead in lordran have the dark sign, I don't think they have to be related to the pygmy at all; Taking havel for example. Havel is confirmed undead - because he has hollowed. However, Kaathe says that those who are of pygmy descent cannot hollow, ergo Havel cannot be descendant.
ihasmario 4 months ago
@ihasmario Not everyone in Lordran has to be undead. I never said they had to be. There could be explorers or crusaders or missionaries who are normal humans. Dusk of Oolacile is an EXTREME exception. We don't even know what / who / when / wtf she even is. She only briefly elaborates on her world and its destruction.
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag Likewise, not all undead have to be a descendant of thte pygmy (take nito, for example, the FIRST undead, he doesn't look human to me).
If you'll humor me further, if it is Gwyn's status as god that allows him to keep the first flame burning, then how is it that you, the player are able to do the same in the Link The Fires ending? Unless, of course, you're both human, and it's your humanity that fuels the fire (same as kindling; gwyns fear of dark, your desire to succeed)
ihasmario 4 months ago
@ihasmario I'll humor you all night, baby. To be honest, I think they chose their words poorly in the overall development of this game. For example: Hollowing, undead etc. I believe when they went for Nito's concept - they meant for him to be more of a living organism with an affinity with the dead. But there's seriously SOOO little information on him (aside from gravelord descriptions and crusades by necromancers / pinwheel) that its hard to say 100%..
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag Don't hit on me you silly girl. The entire translation is terrible.
So few are able to make the distinction between undead and hollow. The fact the bonfires tell you to "reverse hollowing" and "you're practically hollow", when the PC is technically unable to hollow (via the dark lord ending, and arguably the others), adds to further problems.
I suppose one would assume that 'hollow' refers to 0 humanity, but then you have to wonder how Logan went hollow.
ihasmario 4 months ago
@ihasmario You'd also have to wonder how you're not a raging insane zombie at 0 humanity - and why many NPCs (like the soliare) say "Oh you look far from undead!!! :'D". The only NPCs who mentions your state are the crestfallen warrior and Lautec. :\ Then Nico said I looked raggedy when I was decked out in Oolacile's armor. Boo hoo.
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag Oswald of Carim also mentions your state. "Fancy seeing ou hollow" and "It's good to see you are preserving your humanity" are his words, I believe.
ihasmario 4 months ago
I don't think it was Gwyn's status as a God that allowed him to be the one to create the age of fire / rekindle the first flame / link the fires. I'm sure anyone could have linked the fires. Its the idea of linking and kindling all of these bonfires through out the world benefits his society. Fire is the overall -- er -- energy source? I cannot articulate exactly what it would be since it has ineffable qualities that don't translate well. And I'm terrible with words.
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag On the subject of Gwyn, the distinction between Lord of Cinder and Lord of Sunlight is easy to make (one possesses a lord soul, the other does not). However, the distinction between The Dark Sun and Darkmoon is harder to make; one would assume that Darkmoon is his true title, given his affinity to sorcery, whilst the Dark Sun refers to his deific title and lineage (as well as his crown, which coincidentally covers the eyes)
ihasmario 4 months ago
@ihasmario Shit I disliked your comment when I meant to like it. Stupid youtube. Yes. I agree with you on that one. Gwyndolin has the most depth in terms of his relationship with Gwyn and his feeling of responsibility toward Arno Londo. For someone who was raised as the opposite gender - he takes his roles in life very seriously. The Blades of the Darkmoon / the dark sun. Blahh. I'm getting tired. I don't remember my point with this post.
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag Not saying transgenders don't take themselves seriously. :V This whole post came out wrong. I'm going to go lay down now. Goodnight mario. Keep poking holes in my videos so I have something to respond to when I wake up!
Quelaag 4 months ago
@ihasmario The interesting thing about the human ending is that although you're releasing humans from their oppression - its at the expense of almost all of the other life forms as they most likely need the fire or have become dependent on it. Too little is known about the conditions prior to the age of fire except for that prologue.
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag like all literature, there is room for personal interpretation. It would not surprise me, based on their status as "imperfect dragons", that the primordial serpents (or perhaps there is just one, since it is always referred to as "the primordial serpent), were responsible for leading Gwyn et al to the lord souls. The soapstones are interesting, as well as the final area (Kiln), as it seems to suggest a time phenomena that has created an infinite number of lordrans.
ihasmario 4 months ago

He's not human, obviously (he's a giant like many other inhabitants of the otherwise deserted Anor Londo), he sells a number of specialised ranged ammunition (iirc most blacksmiths dont sell any), and the Hawk ring is amongst his things
ihasmario 4 months ago
@ihasmario That's an interesting idea. Though he could have happened upon the ring the same way Sif guards the hornet ring, or Zena happens upon boss armor. Though that would explain his mortality, and it would be a nice reference to greek mythos - only he should be a cyclops and be friends with Artemis. I like to think Hawkeye Gough is the drawing of the archer guy in the art book who was left out of the game. (Classy chap with a giant crossbow)
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag I was under the impression that those archers were prototypes for the sniper crossbow users in Sen's fortress. I don't agree that it could have been gough, on the account that the dragonslayer arrow mentions that the arrow was used by gough and his archers.
ihasmario 4 months ago
@ihasmario It was just a light hearted assumption. I'm assuming all of Gwyn's knights would have had fanciful armor like Smough and the black knights. Though wouldn't the dragonslayer bow be too small for the giants? It's quite large, but it seems like it would be way too small for that blacksmith.
Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag iirc the official translation is "giant bow" or even "giants bow"
ihasmario 3 months ago
@ihasmario Interesting. I'd be interested if the word in question refers to the size or an oni/troll/physical being. Japanese doesn't directly translate into English and they could simply be referring to the size.
Quelaag 3 months ago
@ihasmario or immortality rather.

@tjorna3 nope. they're kinda similar, but if you say they're sequels From software will get angry at you and punch a puppy or something. the stories are completely unrelated. (or so from software says)

Does the story of Demon's Souls have anything to do with the story of Dark Souls?

Quelaag 4 months ago
@Quelaag its actually very welcomed. The EpicNameBro and sonicandamy channels are bothdoin good playthroughs with good (or funny) information. But you have the only channel to my knowledge that attempts to delve into the deeper more subtle story elements within the game. I think your channel is more what the creators wanted from the fans.
Now arnt you special? :3
Valisk01 4 months ago
@Valisk01 being soul level 400 at NG++ isn't good in my opinion. i'm in my ng++ right now, (only) SL 125. i think you farmed too much. and i'm not a pyromancer or some crap, just a dude with a sword (and iron flesh, lol)
lamenotcool 4 months ago
@lamenotcool i didnt farm bro. I beat the game legit twice at SL 118. After that i was helping confirm exploits with the dragon head stone etc. Was gonna try for the level cap but an asian dude neat me to it. Go figure? :/

@Valisk01 you know we're no match for asians. difficulty levels in games (how they should be):
british (12 year-old) kid
easy
normal
hard
asian
(no asian people were harmed in the making of this comment)

@lamenotcool More like American, easy, normal, hard, asian. Europe destroys us in fighting tournaments. D;

MichelKobayashi 4 months ago
@MichelKobayashi Not that I know of. If you kill him he also has her talisman on his body. He just seems like a greedy asshole. (If you arent a knight or cleric - but you join his covenant - he will try to get you to bribe him for information). Just kind of shows what people will do in order to please a god. How insincere behavior and a sense of entitlement can ruin something that's intended to be good. People take things to far. etc etc
