I remember the Chantels appearing on the Milt Grant Show from DC. The Chantels were the first and probably the only group to sing the song twice since the studio audience (committe members)would not let them off. Arlene and the girls ARE the best and being their Nbr 1 fan: i have everything they recorded..my allowance was well spent.

@MROSEN62 I agree--while Aretha was a great singer in her prime, with perhaps the best chops, her tone didn't grab me like some others' voice qualities do, like Arlene's on Maybe, and Maxine Brown's on All In My Mind....
the chantels did a lot of beautiful ballads .

They should come back, but it is a shame, who knows where they are, and if they are alive. Love that time of my life

Arlene had one of the greatest R&B voices of all time ... Aretha, eat your heart out.

Out of all the renditions that I've heard, this one by Arlene & The Chantels is by far the most melodic and sensual of them all! Thanx....good post.
