  • Dozens more OUTDOOR MOOVIES videos can be seen on The RQVOutdoorMoovies Channel. I included clips from my other series REQUIRED VIEWING (1979 - 2007), thus the "RQV". Thankyou michigandriveinscom channel for getting me started here on you tube! Hope ya don't mind me self promin' here, I'm in that mode! Sure hope the Lansing drive in photos come to light, he seemed certain that he had 'em boxed up somewhere. Again, Thank you.

  • Almost 5,250 views! FANTASTIC! Thanks!

  • Close to 5,000 views. Congrats.

  • When i was little i never like to get to the drive-in late, if we didn't get there early couldn't get next to the snack bar aka bathrooms

  • It was a fun road trip, first the excitement of the research and first contacts, then the fun of the trip. We MAY have missed one here, we drove all around looking for the LINCOLN DRIVE IN but could not find it. We really appreciated the audio from the man that once worked at the LAKE DRIVE IN. it fit so good with the shot footage, nice segment, I think. "Looks like you won some hot buittered popcorn, Go for it!" Yup. I miss those outdoor moovies days!

  • the first shots are the Twin Hiway Drive in, still open, on Steubenville Pike, Old US 22 in Robinson Township/Mckees Rocks PA. See the Stuff thats gone Channel for another Drive In Video shot in PA

  • @theqman1956 Thanks for the tip about the stuff thats gone channel.

  • Yeah, but, that still don't answer the question: Why don't they paint their sign? By the way, you tube viewers are ignoring a pretty cool clip of a very weird snack bar. Type into search: M-37 snack bar oddity

  • I remember the Starlight Drive-Inn up in St. Henry when I was a kid.

I live about 25 miles south of it, and it has always been family oriented.

I remember they used to have benches for you to sit on close to the rides.

I thought that it was cool to sit outside in your pajamas and watch a movie on the big screen.

It's different than watching it from the car, but when King Kong came on the screen, it scared the fur off of me, and back to the car I ran.

    I didn't know I could run that fast !

  • Interesting...

  • This one is cool because it has one of the original opening credits of OUTDOOR MOOVIES. The VAN DEL was beautiful. I was very proud of this effort. Eleven drive in theaters in just two days! We were tryin' for 12, but, because of the rain storm, we missed one. This was just one of over five or six dozen OUTDOOR MOOVIES road trips we made, documenting drive in theaters in indiana, Michigan, illinois, and Ohio. We had planned to take a road trip to Wisconsin,

  • Drive in rock especially when you got a 1300 watt stereo in your car like mines

  • The Ohio drive in trip continues in Parts 2-3 & 4....Plus, there is more. You can visit the BLUE SKY...MAGIC CITY...and MIDWAY...Simply...Type into search: MILES DRIVE IN, Cleveland, Ohio. Click & watch, it's short! Then, look to the right, click on: More from RQVOutdoorMoovies and scoll to your selected drive in. These are short, fun clips. Thank you michigandriveins for getting me started. My videos are hard to find, so, I hope you don't mind me pointing people to them.

  • There used to be one by me on Memphis Rd. in Cleveland, it was right by the Memphis Kiddie Park, but I'm pretty sure it's closed now.

  • yeah celina!

that lake drive in's like a mile or two away from my place.

    thanks for posting.

  • To: dunbar girl 007: Are you a psychic? I just posted the clip you mentioned a day before you found it. If you hadn't found the "magic words", I might've never found it. Maybe when i post my second video, it wil;l make it to those 50 pages? Anyways, thanks!

  • Hello fellow drive in nuts...I was curious and typed into search "drive in theaters from RQVOutdoorMoovies" and found a hidden drive in theater, the Miles in Cleveland. This is strange because it doesn't appear anywhere else, even on the 50 drive in theater pages. Check it out!

  • I'm going to the van-del this weekend.

  • Thank you for the kind comments. I think my favorite part is 3, maybe 1.

  • To: 1 minute til showtime: It's nice to see that you plan on watching the other parts. I'm watching this backwards and I know you'll enjoy the other parts as much as I did. Part one gets 5 of 5 stars. The 4 part epic stands as a classic and was very entertaining.

  • Nice intro! I've never been to Ohio, so, I'm looking forward to seeing parts 2-4. The Van Del was nice. Also, the car with all the grafitti was wierd.

  • Like airia phobia, I too enjoyed the Outdoor Movies intro. It makes me wonder what the show was like. Thank you for posting what appears to be a complete episode. This 4 part presentation is really appreciated. I lost the two drive ins where I grew up and only got to go to one of 'em....albiet several times. I could tell you stories but they might arrest me. The Van Del was cool. Nice marque. I really liked the audio interview at the Lake. Very informative. I'm looking forward to part 2!

  • i wonder what the ABC marque looked like?

  • The intro to Outdoor movies was nice. To zaphop 1138: What is, or WAS, a Yumbo? Who is Burger Chef and Jeff? To gdwmontg: I wish I did remember the ABC drive in, hope someone does. I liked the van del marque. I bet it looked nice all lit up. The interview with the guy at the LAKE was interesting, he was a natural. It is nice to see a single screen drive in. This must've been a fun road trip. To drive in nut 61: Are you sure the LINCOLN ever really existed? Maybe it was in Illinois?

  • to michigan driveins, make it burgerchef and jeff and in with you, and dont forget the yumbo from burger king. what about the whaler lol. looking forward to the next adventure. the benches at vandel were very cool, miss the drive ins im on to part 2 thanks

  • Thank you Timelytoo for your kind comments.

  • Miss the ABC Drive-In in Noblesville, Indiana - anybody remember that one?

  • Ahhh...........huh?

  • Man this stuff is old. We need somebody rich to go ahead and lose some cash while bringing this "Homemade American Apple Pie" feeling back to all of us. Thank you.

  • Oh nice footage. This really takes me back.

  • Forget McDonalds, make it Dog 'n Suds and I'm in!

  • It's nice to see the intro for OUTDOOR MOOVIES. With all the cool drive ins AND those OUTDOOR MOOVIES TRIVIA GIRLS, it must've been quite a show. The VAN DEL was very nice, I'd like to see it at night. The interview with the grounds guy at the LAKE drive in was interesting. I'd like to see more Ohio drive ins, and Texas drive ins especially. How about a Texas drive in road trip! I'll chip in for gas. Dutch treat for McDonalds? How about it?
