My friend wrote his master thesis about one city in Poland called "Kielce" where in pre-medevial times lived a tribe of celtic people and my slavic ancestors named them "kelci" becouse of their diferent culture:)

Moim zdaniem to, co pokazano w clipie opisuje dalszy ciąg historii, którego nie ma już w tekście piosenki. Szkoda że nie pokazali tych lachonów, przez które dwaj marynarze pobili się na miecze, a trzeci (ten z czaszką) poszczuł ich wilkami. Nie wiadomo czy było warto.....

Breton is the celtic langage of (part of) Brittany
Breton isn't a romance langage (nothing to do with french)
Breton is of the Brythonic family, not the gaelic family (closer to welsh than to irish/scottish)
The song has nothing to do with the clip (three seamen fishing in Newfoundland and conversing with an local inn maid on where they intend to spend the night)

@ericmarseille2 good explanation! Actually Poland has to do with Celts more then you might expect. My friend wrote his master thesis about one city in Poland called "Kielce" where in pre-medevial times lived a tribe of celtic people and my slavic ancestors named them "kelci" becouse of their diferent culture:)

@ericmarseille2 Bien vu mais le breton appartient comme le gaelique, le gallois, le wallon, .... aux langues celtiques qui occupaient avant la conquète romaine les deux cotés du channel C'est ainsi que les termes Wales, Wallon, Cornwall ou Cornouaille (corne des gallois) se réfèrent aux celtes tout comme gallois, gaelique, gaulois, galice ou galate dérivés de l'appelation romaine des celtes conquis dont l'emblème était le coq (gallus). Ce terme est lui même emprunté au grec galatos = barbares

- effectivement les termes Gallois, Gaulois, Wallon, Welsh, Gaélique, Welsch (allemand pour non-germain), Galate (Turquie actuelle), Wallache (Roumanie) proviennent de la même racine, mais
1) ça ne provient pas du Grec, c'est un endoethnonyme
2) Le rapprochement avec le coq provient d'un jeu de mot romain, gallus (coq) = Gallus (Gaulois), ils trouvaient que ce peuple et cet animal vantard allaient très bien ensemble.

" Gaulois et dérivés" (Galatos en grec, tout comme Gallus homonyne latin de Coq mais n'ayant aucun rapport évident) auraient la même racine "Gal" empruntée au celtique signifiant "fureur guerrière". Par contre, Celtes provient aussi du celtique "Kelkon" signifiant colonisateur.
Welsch, Wallon, Wales, etc... proviennent quant à eux du francisque "Walisk" désignant les latinophones étrangers (donc non Francs et non Germains).

Gal c'est très possible sachant que Celtique et Italique sont cousins intimes dans la famille indo-européenne (96% de similitudes dans le test de jsaipluqui, à égalité avec la famille indo-iranienne seule) ; ceci dit, les Romains nous ont donné notre langue et notre "symbole" national ; je maintiens.
quand à Walisk et assimilés (il y a des Welches dans les marches Germaniques opposées : Roumanie) je pense avec des linguistes sérieux qu'il vient de l'autoethnonyme celte.

Pour les études Indo-Européennes, c'est du lourd mais passionnant ; la meilleure introduction générale (origines, cultures, dispertion, filiation, vocabulaire reconstitué) en français reste à mon avis "les indo-européens" par Bernard Sergent, chez Payot ; après faut aller dans le super lourd linguistique avec "Introduction à l'étude comparative des langues Indo Européennes" de Meillet et le "vocabulaire indo-européen" de Delamarre ; éviter les dingues nazifiants!

there is an argument that british sea shanties are the lowest, being basic work and counting songs , then breton , then the polish have taken it to an art form (I was told this by polish shantyman, on his return from the krakow shanty festival, after Id just sung breton shanty/ dance tune)
