I have no idea why people think that ETs would be presumed friendly. Just cuz they might be brighter or have better tech does not mean they have enlightened themselves out of chaos. If tomorrow humans suddenly achieved interstellar space travel, we'd still be the crude violent race we are now.

There is no credible evidence to support the idea that an ET civilization should be peaceful. They have their own agendas, and being technically superior to us -they dont have to be nice.
