  • 3:24 is that a mac i see?

  • mac sucks

  • the real question is what are you on

  • "A pioneer and an innovator"??

What are you on? What did he ever pioneer? Where is the evidence of innovation? He's copied everything from Apple held back software development for years and destroyed many good small software companies.

On top of this he's been responsible for the loss of millions work hours and millions of Dollars in the process.

Why don't you give him a blow job while you're down there?

  • "...believes any problem can be solved" Except any issue with the compatibility of MS/DOS/Windows/Longhorn/Vista and the very PCs they are meant to run on, countless security issues and 440,000 pieces of malware

"...one of the greatest business minds of al time" Bullshit. He runs a virtual monopoly, founded on the laziness of IBM and based on a flawed product that the world has become dependent upon. He's like a... drug baron then!

Only fools hail Gates as anything other than a fraud.

  • you forgot to mention the countless lawsuits AGAINST microshaft

  • LOL I ran out of space!

Now we're being inflicted with ads claiming ordinary people came up with the idea! Which in a way is true, only these ordinary people worked for NeXT and then Apple and they came up with the idea about ten years ago!

It's called Mac OS X and we've had it since 2001.

Is there no end to the blatant crapness and total lack of originality of this shit company from Redmond?

  • nope, now they've got a windows phone, lol

    redmond, start your copiers!

  • windows mobile has been around since ~2003. it's not a "redmond start your photocopiers HURR" thing, everyone's wanted to get into the mobile phone business.

  • yeah, and guss what? threr would be no mircosoft if apple didnt ask them to write some programs for them, therer would be no windows, yeah i said it the first verosn of windosw was a rip of of the os 1....but w/e go apple and mircosoft!

  • Then what if Xerox hadn't shown Apple what GUI was all about? Are you itards ready to call Xerox your daddy now?

  • r u on crack? they started with basic for the altair and continued with developing dos for the ibm pc. and with out windows, the mac os wouldn't be anywere near as good as it is today. more importantly though, gaming would be a whole lot shittier.

  • Bill Gates ripped off the work of John George Kemeny and Thomas Eugene Kurtz to produce Microsoft BASIC.

Microsoft did not develop DOS, they purchased QDOS from Seattle Computer Products and this became MS-DOS. QDOS was itself an inferior ripoff of CP/M for which its creator, Gary Kildall was never compensated for in his lifetime.

You have no reason for stating Mac OS wouldn't be as good without Windows.

And the Amiga offered better gaming for its time before PC gaming ever took off.

  • hmm so you dont consider windows worth what it could and can do then?.... bit daft really sinc wwithout windows we wouldnt be were we are today.

  • Without Windows and Microsoft's oppressive monopoly, we'd be years ahead of where we are today.

  • How?

  • have you seen the price tag of windows 7? disgraceful, especially after the vista debacle

  • snipurl com/t05zr

$140 is seriously not bad at all

  • wow, nice use of an operating system designed for .5% of the computer buying population. this one will be far more popular:

    ht tp://tiny. cc/s6iES

    $319.99 is highway robbery

  • only fools buy the retail copy.

    snipurl com/t13tm

    $174.99, much cheaper :)

also don't try to say that OS X is cheaper since a retail copy of OS X is technically an upgrade. finely tuned.

  • only fools buy your incomplete copy. or as one user put it 'vista lite' the price reflects just what it is. :)

which version of osx is only an upgrade besides the $29 snow leopard?

  • all box copies of OS X are basically upgrades. you have to install it on a mac, after all, and macs come with an OS X license.

where's your proof that it's an incomplete copy?

  • if you think tiger was just an upgrade to panther, then windows7 is just an upgrade to vista. what do you mean that 'macs come with an osx license'?

    1 example: ht tp://ww w. tomshardware. com/forum/240113-45-windows-system-builder-licensing-work

  • so are you saying that I can buy a copy of OS X retail and install it on a PC and be within the terms of the license?

you do realize that the vista retail license is also 1 machine at a time, right? only difference is that it's transferable (and you can do that with the OEM license - just say your motherboard died)

  • no. that is the license of osx. your statement seemed to infer that the mac computer had license. i read where the motherboard is NOT changeable with this limited version of windows. what about ms support?

  • a mac comes with a license to run OS X.

    1) it is and it isn't. if you can convince them that you simply swapped the motherboard, they'll take your word for it on the phone activation line.

    2) i don't think people buying system builder licenses will need microsoft support??

  • a mac has no license. all licensing is in osx, not the mac.

1)so you are recommending lying, as need be?

2)so you agree that relatively few people will use/need builder licenses?

  • 1) why not?

    2) relatively few people know about them. do the majority of retail windows buyers take advantage of microsoft's support?

    3) a mac comes with an OS X license in the same way a PC with windows preinstalled comes with a windows license

  • 1) people with a conscience will avoid that practice. i would hope that most people do.

2)relatively few people build their own computer. the point is not whether they use it but wanting the 'insurance' of it

3)so, if a buy a used mac, with no os on it-it still has a license?

  • 1) god forbid you cheat a multibillion dollar company and actually use the software you purchased

    2) okay, have you ever called apple support when you're having problems with software, completely unrelated to hardware? or do you just google up and find a solution?

    3) you're entitled to install OS X on it if it meets the requirements for support, so pretty much.

  • 1) yes, people with morals will not cheat ANY company. people with no morals (like you), will.

2)never had a problem in OSX. that's my answer.

3)the os has that license, not the mac

  • 2) yeah, you don't really use your computer, I forgot

    3) you're stupid. you're fucking stupid. when did I say the machine is licensed? never. I said it includes a fucking license for the OS. stop arguing, you're just pulling bullshit out.

  • 2) please define 'really using your computer' what does it entail?

you're stupid, you're fucking stupid. 1 day ago you said, quote: a mac comes with a license to run osx.

the os is licensed to run on an Apple labeled computer.

please change your nick to theBSguy

  • 2) using it for actual work?

the mac comes with a non-transferable OS X license, does it not? you cannot legally take the copy of snow leopard that comes with a new machine and install it on your older intel macs, can you?

  • are you claiming that I have never used my computer for actual work?

the mac computer doesn't come with a license. osx has the license and tells the user how and where osx can be installed. if i have bought a mac with tiger on it and install leopard over it, the computer doesn't retain some 'license' for tiger

  • considering that a low-spec imac is sufficient for your needs, yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.

i'm not arguing with you about licensing, you're ignorant.

  • considering that I don't have an imac, you're ignorant

i already won that argument, you're ignorant

i suppose my pc holds my windows license too, lol?

  • really now? what mac do you have?

i never said the mac physically contains a license, you fucking idiot, I said one is included with the purchase.

  • 2 g4's and one g5

    your quote:

a mac comes with a license to run OSX

osx has the license to run only on the mac-this is what you SHOULD have said

  • g4 and g5 power macs?

  • yes

  • ah, okay. i have a 5-year old ibm thinkpad t43 running the latest version of windows, windows 7, and it runs it pretty well. am I correct in saying that your G5 powermac runs the latest release of mac os x, "snow leopard", quite well? oh wait

  • what are your specs on your thinkpad. what are we missing in snow leopard?

  • pentium M 750 (obviously single core), 2 GB of RAM (maxed it out a few years ago), 64 MB ATI X300 graphics (not a great card even by late 2004 standards but it still ran Aero even with Vista) and 160 GB of hard drive space (also a later upgrade)

  • ahhh good enough to run that bloated windows7 i see

  • bloated windows 7? it's a weak laptop by today's standards (single core 1.86 GHz processor, way outdated graphics) and it runs it fine. i suspect that even some netbooks would outperform that machine.

  • it's bloated when compared to osx's requirements...

  • almost forgot, we are just around the corner:

    h ttp://snipu rl. com/t41rb

  • why would apple release the intel-only version and wait months to release a PPC version? notice that this was made before WWDC, where Serlet made it clear that SL would only support Intel macs

  • we shall see <:+)

  • didn't we discuss apple's purchase of a ppc maker previously?

  • yes, when you were using your "wellhowdydew" parachute account after your 5th ban

considering that the recent mac sales numbers can be attributed to the intel transition, do you seriously believe they'll go back to an incompatible, niche RISC architecture?

  • sorry, haven't been illegally banned nowhere near 5 times

the recent numbers are more attributable to tiger first, then leopard

  • so if they had stayed on with IBM and continued selling PPC macs, do you think that as many people would have purchased them anyway?

remember that apple really pushed the idea that you can run windows on macs.

  • no, but the push was mainly from tiger, NOT from being able to run windows

    ht tp://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/File:Macsales. svg

note the upswing clearly started BEFORE intel switch

correction: apple pushed the idea that you can run BOTH

  • tiger came out in 2005. the intel switch was announced in late 2005. clearly the sales begin to get speed after the intel transition.

  • tiger in april, 2005 the mac pro completed the intel transition in january, 2006, some nine months later

  • your assertion that tiger led to increased mac sales holds no water. it's no mystery that the intel transition did this. seriously, look at the numbers.

  • seriously, did you look at the chart where mac sales had dramatically increased BEFORE the intel switch. seriously, look at the real facts.

    seriously...

  • yes, I see that they started selling over a million macs per quarter after Q3 2007. I also see that Q4 '06 was a record quarter with almost a million units sold. this was after the transition, by the way.

stop trying to prove something that's just wrong.

  • yes, the upswing was started with tiger, intel helped but tiger really pushed the mac

  • really? looks like tiger helped but intel really pushed the mac.

  • no, id say that tiger was the #1 reason, followed by vista failure, then the intel transition. i have seen reports justifying this

  • show me these "reports"

  • straight from steve jobs to you:

    h ttp://money. cnn. com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2005/02/21/8251769/index. htm

  • okay, but the numbers don't seem to agree with your assertion. it's no mystery that mac sales really started to take off with the intel switch, and later, leopard

  • so, steve jobs is wrong and you are right?

  • steve jobs was right in 2005, when that article was written.

    snipurl com/t53nc

look at the market share numbers.

  • yes, your marketshare numbers directly correlate with the release of tiger

  • lol, mac fanboy denying that windows compatibility made the mac more relevant

  • no. I am not saying it wasn't important. I am saying that tiger was MORE important. if osx had not progressed as it did with tiger, the importance of the mac would have been considerably less

  • correction: the mac pro release not until august 2006, some 16 months AFTER tiger

  • Yeah. Also i don't use microsoft i use apple for my mac.

  • xbox is the only thing that came from Microsoft that was worth buying
