My dog won't touch a raw bone. I've tried and tried and she won't even attempt to eat them unless I pan-fry it for her in the skillet. I only brown the bones for like a minute on both sides, and THEN she eats it. But if I give it to her raw, she'll only stare at it. What am I doing wrong????
Good for you for putting him on the raw food diet - he is loving that cornish game hen! I also find it quite hysterical that they call it the "BARF" diet, pronounced with a New England accent - very funny! How is Bob's progress? Seeing some good results?
I think it is very healthy to feed canines small amounts of veggies AND fruits. But you need to ground them up in a food processor or blender because they don't chew them up enough to use the nutrients. The reasoning behind this is to mimic the small amounts of partially digested fruits and vegetables they would get from the intestines of animals they kill and eat in the wild.
my knowledge is that theres no right or wrong on feeding vedges or not, as long as you dont feed them anything cooked. in the wild you dog would gobble the stomach of its kill which holds greens, and so their body, including their stomach is designed to digest them. some people think that therefore you should feed them, including me, but if you dont its no biggie, anythngs better than commerical pet food. my dog gets k9 natural food which is based on barf diet (i think)
I just started my dog on the diet, which he is loving so far. I have just been doing chicken and turkey necks so far. I also joined the group on yahoo and have been reading alot about it. It's a little confusing to me because some add vegetable and other stuff and others say not to. Do you just feed the meat or suppliment as well?
It's great how Bob eats in that designated area. I tried raw feeding today and my dog takes it out of his bowl and takes it in the living room carpet. I have to buy some enclosures to keep my dog in the kitchen at least. Beautiful dog, by the way
It's the best thing for the animal, but make sure you do LOTS of research on the subject.Join the yahoo groups about raw feeding and buy these books,"Raw meaty bones" and "Works wonders"
what about raw meat and rice? sardines is it ok? actually i dont believe in commercialize dog food my puppy is hard to feed and no appetite at all... and maybe i should try barf diet..
I see you had trouble with keeping Bob on his plate. I really find that a blanket works the best. That way he can always eat on the blanket and if he gets off then take the bone away until he gets back on. All of my dogs have gotten that in no time. But, I bet he has it figured out now. Isn't the poop so exciting? And no farting...just lovely. Great video and funny too! Thanks for sharing
Bob is doing absolutely wonderful on the raw,It's a transformation! He never pooped right in the two years before i started the raw,now He's completely normal. And also my mothers greyhound had the same problem, and within a week of raw she was fixed!
If you are interested check out the yahoo groups about raw feeding, there is a wealth of information in those groups.
I see this video was posted a few months ago, how is it working out for Bob?
I'm looking at switching to raw myself, I've had 2 dogs die of cancer in the past year and a half, both fibrosarcomas, which is pretty uncommon in dogs...so I'm thinking something's not right here...

Plus, it's kind of badass to have your dog gnawing on a dead carcass like that. I'd feel like a viking Chuck Norris if that was my dog.

It took him a while to learn to eat in one area. The easiest way is to just feed outside! No cleaning!
"Beautiful dog, by the way "
Thanks!

Where do you get your meat do just buy from the store or a special raw food place?
omarsolis1986 2 years ago
Right now i just buy from the grocery store, with chicken being the staple in his diet.He also Gets beef, pork and organ meat.
When i get my Great dane put that will change,I'm going to have to buy in bulk.
