All 3 times i've ever gotten a play reviewed the goal was still allowed, never had a goal taken away from. I've had "kick in" calls and the stick being over the crossbar but never have they said no goal. Really cool concept and I was shocked when I first got it.
I'm not even joking if Phil kessel did that, that would be the most amazing goal ever scored :P or atleast itd probably top 3 in that season, that was unbelievable.

@HabsFanTom it does show a replay sm2323 has a disallowed goal in the demo he scored but kicked the puck into the net and they review it and it shows a couple of replays of the disallowed goal

When this happens in the game, what is the called based on? Random, or does the game take into account real hockey rules? It makes me mad when im playing goalie for my club and my shutout gets broken due to a home run swing. On top of that, its tough to bat the puck out of the air in real life, so when the player attempts this in the game, they should have a chance of missing too. But anyway, they better wave off a goal that goes in like this if the player swings above his waist.

My point was that over-ruling a disallowed goal better go by the book and not by random chance. But still, a nice informative comment would have been appreciated.
all I can say to the haters, nhl has been the winner of the sports game of the year award for the last 2 years, and I know it will be 3 when nhl 11 comes out, no other sport game comes even close to nhl, bottom line.

Obviously true football & soccer fans make those games where as the interns work on NHL. Both Madden and Fifa are on another level when it comes to presentation.

I'm voicing legitimate concerns that get ignored because EA loves to "bandage" the game with new features rather than own up to and fix existing problems (ie shit passing or computer player penalties). Hopefully they'll listen to our concerns (if we voice them) and actually make adjustments that gamers actually want, unlike broken sticks and new face off mechanics.
- Passes still went 2 miles an hour in a different direction you were pressing.
- Players wiff on easy one timers.
- Goalies flop around like they have turrets syndrome.
- Toe drag shots are still too effective and cheap.
- The computer takes slashing & hooking penalties and gives away penalty shots!
Before selling us on stick breaking, user celebrations, CHL teams, face offs, all that nonsense nobody cares about. How about just fix the damn game,..that's all we want EA

Fighting last year was a joke. Its pointless and on top of that, they did a horrible job with the graphics, physics and sfx. It proved EA was out of touch. This year's features look even worse aside from the new hitting physics

@itstoohotout well if computer players never got any penalties the game would be dry. You would have the option of being one man short or not and everyone would pick the logical one. Also, if they didn't take penalties they would be useless. I am saying this because they wouldn't check, raise sticks and other ways to get the puck since it could lead to a penalty. I agree with you on the goalie and the one timer stuff, that is just pure bullshit that's been going on way to long.

The angles of the ref looks like they are in replay mode which scares me if it's actual game footage because there's clearly no attempt to make this look realistic or polished. No replay angles, no talking with the guys upstairs. Just a weird cut to the ref standing there. Totally fabricated. Lets hope it's better than this.

You can't be serious? Madden SUCKS! It's awful- year after year. FIFA is excellent and just like NHL it is made by EA Canada- they make the best EA sports games. NHL is a top quality product that never fails to produce hours of fun.

I've been a die hard fan ever since getting my hands on a Genesis controller back in '93. I should correct myself before somebody jumps all over my post. I've played over 600 games online this year alone, in '09. So what I'm saying is that it's not like I'm a casual player. All the mention of new features but no mention of any fixes is what really bothers me. Why can't they just own up to the fact that the passing was atrocious in '09, or that the penalties taken by your computer players was terrible, or that the goalies are so flaky. Instead, stick breaking and faceoffs, really?!

@THEDATSYUK36 hahaha. It was a goal. The player hit the puck over his shoulders but below the crossbar. Seems like referees are using the first one as a norm and the video judge the second. Nice feature.

They should have 2 refs and 2 linesmen in my opinion, there should be a ref behind the net making the call, not a ref skating from centre ice.

When this happens in the game, what is the called based on? Random, or does the game take into account real hockey rules? It makes me mad when im playing goalie for my club and my shutout gets broken due to a home run swing. On top of that, its tough to bat the puck out of the air in real life, so when the player attempts this in the game, they should have a chance of missing too. But anyway, they better wave off a goal that goes in like this if the player swings above his waist.

My point was that over-ruling a disallowed goal better go by the book and not by random chance. But still, a nice informative comment would have been appreciated.

It's hard to believe NHL, FIFA, and Madden are made by the same company. Oh wait, they're technically not.
Obviously true football & soccer fans make those games where as the interns work on NHL. Both Madden and Fifa are on another level when it comes to presentation.

I'm voicing legitimate concerns that get ignored because EA loves to "bandage" the game with new features rather than own up to and fix existing problems (ie shit passing or computer player penalties). Hopefully they'll listen to our concerns (if we voice them) and actually make adjustments that gamers actually want, unlike broken sticks and new face off mechanics.

...last time I checked:
- Passes still went 2 miles an hour in a different direction you were pressing.
- Players wiff on easy one timers.
- Goalies flop around like they have turrets syndrome.
- Toe drag shots are still too effective and cheap.
- The computer takes slashing & hooking penalties and gives away penalty shots!
Before selling us on stick breaking, user celebrations, CHL teams, face offs, all that nonsense nobody cares about. How about just fix the damn game,..that's all we want EA

Fighting last year was a joke. Its pointless and on top of that, they did a horrible job with the graphics, physics and sfx. It proved EA was out of touch. This year's features look even worse aside from the new hitting physics

@itstoohotout well if computer players never got any penalties the game would be dry. You would have the option of being one man short or not and everyone would pick the logical one. Also, if they didn't take penalties they would be useless. I am saying this because they wouldn't check, raise sticks and other ways to get the puck since it could lead to a penalty. I agree with you on the goalie and the one timer stuff, that is just pure bullshit that's been going on way to long.

Wait a sec, Rammer tried to pull a fast one on us. "disallowed goals!?" Do you guys not know what the referee's signal is for disallowed goals? He pointed to center. That means it WAS a goal!...uhh... That's pretty embarrassing. If you don't know the rules of hockey then why are you working on this game!?

@Greg676 Sounds like you're making excuses for a lazy attempt at stringing together some stock footage. You can tell that none of this was actually taken from the game. The angles of the ref looks like they are in replay mode which scares me if it's actual game footage because there's clearly no attempt to make this look realistic or polished. No replay angles, no talking with the guys upstairs. Just a weird cut to the ref standing there. Totally fabricated. Lets hope it's better than this.

The game is a month or two away from being on shelves and the best they can do to show off their "new feature" is to cut together some crappy looking stock footage from replay mode that looks like it was taken from the NHL '04 engine?! What frustrates me the most is NHL is the only game that gets away with looking exactly the same year after year, from the menu screens to the actual graphics of the game. Games like madden and fifa have huge improvements in the visuals every year. Its all the same company, why do different games get different treatment? Its very frustrating from a hockey fans point of view.

I've been a die hard fan ever since getting my hands on a Genesis controller back in '93. I've seen so many improvements over the years and yet at the same time it feels like there have been so many missed opportunities. I have spent over $1000 on this game over the years so it gives me the right to expect more common sense from the developers

I play all three sports, watch all three sports religiously, and hockey has by far been the laziest of the 3 as far as presentation & fundamental problems go. I'm all for improving the physics (it's about f'ing time!) but fix probelems before adding stick breaking and faceoffs and other crap that we don't want. OWN UP!

I'm pretty much sure this isn't what we will see in the full game. It would be very weird if they just cut from goal replay to the ref making his decision. I bet there will be something in between

I should correct myself before somebody jumps all over my post. I've played over 600 games online this year alone, in '09. So what I'm saying is that it's not like I'm a casual player. All the mention of new features but no mention of any fixes is what really bothers me. Why can't they just own up to the fact that the passing was atrocious in '09, or that the penalties taken by your computer players was terrible, or that the goalies are so flaky. Instead, stick breaking and faceoffs, really?!
