The old cure stuff was labeled darkwave, as opposed to the lighter new wave of the 80's they pioneered the genre which later became gothic rock or gothic music, so calling The Cure Goth is quite accurate. All of this lies within the realm of "Alternative" music, a kind of hazy and generic term if you ask me!
