I dont understand how to edit pictures like this. It is like you have treated the whole picture with some effect, layer, blur or softening that is in almost all of your pics and I have seen it used by many other pro photographers and it looks great but I just cannot figure out what the hell it is. I call it the pleasentness effect lol and it looks fantastic on nice big prints but what on earth are you doing to get this effect ? Please tell me I am Welsh, not English lol.
@SuperMangn if you mean by how only the people are in focus and the rest is 'soft/blurry' then this is the effect from a good lens and a large(r) format camera, probably full frame. If you use a compact camera it would be very hard to achieve this.
@SuperMangn Hey i do all my treatments in ACR, adobe camera raw, not in photoshop its self. its a great program if you shoot and use Raw files. Having Nikon cameras like the D3 and D3s helps too, huge dynamic range!!
Please tell me how did you get the picture at 2:33. Is that natural light or if it is a product from photoshop? Can you show me the tutorial to get light like that, or any key words about it by which i can search myself. It really impresses me. Thanks you very much!!!!
Hey use Adobe Camera raw, not PS, rays are there in raw file but u can lighten them using the local adjustment brush in ACR to make them show up more. (adobe camera raw) :-)
@TempoFilmDK Soft light from the art history brush is good but my post is almost all done in camera raw now, i use smart objects and if i need more contrast of colour i just double click a layer and it opens back in raw. easy :-)
Hey dan, generally what aperture do you use? i ask a mate of mine who is a wedding photographer and he told me he use 2.8 all the way pretty much..when i did my sister's wedding i did 2.8 because he told me so and i just change my iso depending on the light..and yeah.. i only have a 24-70 and 70-200 2.8..need some advice as im taking wedding photos for a friend too..any help would be good
@tochikiks Hey it really depends upon the situation, if you're doing a close up on the brides face, maybe f2.8, the wider you go the greater the margin for error in terms of focus, a slight movement towards or away from the bride and the photo is soft! Outdoors if im shooting a wide angle shot i might use f8, it really depends upon your iso and how much light there is, time of day etc. Group shots ie family shots i'd use 5.6 -8, people don't tend to stand in a straight line.
Some great pics here, however I must express my concern towards people asking basic advice about shooting their first wedding, if you need to ask then maybe you are not up to the job, learn your craft first, would you like someone experimenting on your special day??
great job! done a wedding this Summer and learned a lot with my mistakes but had some very good ones at the end! just wish I could get the same intensity as your, thanks for the inspiration.
great stuff mate i have my first wedding shoot in 2 weeks i am doing it for free for my cousin trouble is i am a landscape hobbyist : ] i will do my best what wedding situations fit a prime lens and which ones a zoom would you say ??? Many thanks
Cool, the first is generally very nerve racking! Lens wise, i use a 24 , 35, 50 , 85 mm 1.4 plus 24-70 and a 70-200. Just make the most of what you have, remember you're shooting it for free!!
@ashki, its true that all of that pictures wer éditéd.Im à photographer as well but will you believed that before i take à shot on my mind i know how it will be edited already. We edit coz We want to show our ideas about our pictures.
@spindoctor94941 honestly this is NOT photography, this is digital editing. i mean if you look at these photos before being retouched, they look dull, or not as effective as they are now. all the photos need to be edited.
@ashkibala1 isnt digital editing or post processing part of the photography? sorry im newbie in the art. but im inspired by works such as these. thanks.
@spindoctor94941 yes it is but sometimes when you compare the before and after photos, they look way more pleasing. i mean many people think there is something wrong with their cameras but they dont know that post processing is as important as taking the shot. of course you cant take crappy photos and rely on editing them. most of these photos are edited probably in Adobe Lightroom. any photographer must have Lightroom and/or Photoshop and you have to learn them. good luck ;)
15 years ago in a DarkRoom i, vignetted, dodged areas, added contrast, warmed up the developer, bleached prints and toned them for affects, thing was no one said, " that's been darkroomed" , these days ppl think its all photoshop. Photoshop cant fix a poorly composed photo and can turn a bad shot into a great shot. Ansel Adams spend hours, days on prints to get it just right, the process of photography is not just the capture but the printing or these days the treatment. My 2 cents :-)
@ashkibala1 Honestly you must be an amateur, what do you think photography is???? There has always been two parts to photography, capture and finish. When we shot film the end product would always depend on the printing process, dark room process had always burning dodging, lifting edges of paper to create soft focus etc. To NOT finish images and expect out of the camera to be a finished image is beyond belief. Photography has always been about composition, capture of light and mood.
but i think her pose should've been a bit different, like staring down diagonally with a tiny smirk or smile with her eyes closed, i wish i can have that much control with lighting though
Hi oblivionthoughts , thanks for your comments, that shot was just available light, infact 99% percent are available light, no flash but some video light used on reception shots. i use the LED lightpanel. That bride was standing in a garage with sunlight shining though gaps in the roof, there were about 100 people at her home for the Lebanese traditions so i had about 3 seconds to do this shot, would ahve loved more time too!!
@oblivionthoughts , i simply asked them to lay down in the grass, i was standing over them on a small mound with a 24-70. I should add that in all of my slide shows the images are from real weddings, not hired models.
Damn you!!! all pictures soooooo pretty :) i guess some would say over saturated in places but its all comes down to personal preferences, in any case i think they are amazing, thanks for sharing
Hi Daniel! Keep those amazingly good photos coming, i am loving it. You got some realy funny ideas how to make weddingphotos more seductively for the eye.
