  • Not sure if this kid's some kind of world champion, and not saying I'm especially good at table tennis or anything, but there are a number of ways to quickly win a rally when an opponent's doing that. The most reliable being to let the ball drop and instead of smashing just whip it very low with plenty of topspin. It'll drop to the ground before it gets to the other guy. Or just a nice dropshot would work.

  • 1 level behind Chuck Norris

  • man that guys defense is amazing.

  • levels

    easy

    medium

    hard

    expert

    asian

  • also he's so far back and because he's so far back that means he's closing down so much of the angle even if he hit it to the sides u wouldn't notice plus that would be stupid because it would be very likely that you'd miss so the best option there is to do what he did and and play it safe because its very likely he'll make a mistake as he did. Not forgetting he's playing michael maze the best left handed lobber in the world, so don't go around chatting shit when u don't even play table tennis.

  • how stupid are u do u know how hard the drop shot is and theres no such thing as soft shot also he's putting no spin on it he's quite clearly lobbing, not forgetting when you go for the drop shot you've got to move in to it and that gives a clear sign that ur going for a drop shot and ur opponent will usually run in and then he'll start attacking. I'd say a drop shot only works effectively 1in 8 attempts.

  • *Click* *Click* *Click* *HOOAH!*

  • wtf i thought this was a joke/setup, but he was actually trying to win it? WOW fucking dumbass couldve just tricked him, then do a soft shot, or maybe fucking hit it towards the very fucking side at least.

  • @JackyRBKwan soft shots can always backfire.

  • @JackyRBKwan The drop shot is the most difficult shot in table tennis...

  • like if you began to feel bad for the blue guy

  • im the ceo of microsoft....yeah well im a sweet ping pong player...

  • both of them are left-handed d:

  • i think the dude in black is like fuck man if you want it so much...

  • this has a beat

  • lol 1:06

  • that guy who kept smashing it must have been getting really pissed off

  • @pesfan302 The guy in black has put a great amount of spin on his backhand. And so it's difficult for the guy in blue to just simply hit to the other side, coz the spin will make it go out. If it was just a simple flat backhand with no sidespin, then the blue guy could've smashed it the 'other' way easy! :D

  • even though maze lost that point,he still make his opponent tired, thus he can win later on!lol

  • It's actually not that hard to defend like that.

It looks good, but it's quite simple.

  • @pking4lifely There's spin involved ya know. If you just return a flat backhand, the guy can easily smash it to the other side with ease.

  • 1:00 the only time his left leg does not spaz out when he hits the ball

  • wtf both lefties

  • He could have perhaps twiddled to the short pip for forehand and attempt a drop shot or flat hit it to Maze's left corner. This would have saved energy and thrown off Maze's routine.

  • how can he be out of breath after a table tennis rally...?

  • @gammaray4evrr Obviously you haven't played much table tennis. It can get pretty intense, especially when there's a long rally like this.

  • @Wkesi2

yeah it can get intense, but come on, they do more moving while celebrating between rallies then in the rallies...

  • It is not a smart idea at all to hit like that many times, except it is the last point of the last game. Tan Rui Wu has no potential to be a world champion.

  • Maze should have continued lobing . It's a good strategy to tire out the opponent if they are going all out attack like this .

  • Not really. The reason is because if hits soft the ball has so much topspin that it will jump high enough for the other player to approach to the table and smash it himself. Another option is trying to drop shot it, but again this is very hard because of the spin and the placement (the defender keeps going long). It's always safer to keep smashing unless you see a clear chance for a drop. Most of the time the defender will eventually miss.

  • I'm not sure why he kept on slamming it. That made no sense. The guy was far from the table. A soft hit is all it'd take....

  • @Oreganoseasoner its about sportsmanship...

  • @r0na1d07 What? If you're in a competition, why would you lower your playing abilities or strategies to allow the other guy a chance? That's patronizing.

  • Same thing here :

    watch?v=A8IVASo0umU

  • try beating forrest gump

  • @EDDIEinWAR laafe is laake a box of chocolates.

  • what goes around , comes back around

  • WWOOOAAAAHH!!

    //...AWESOME!

  • die können nix

  • @lllDispensablelll

was willst du eigentlich, natürlich können die was, die sind bestimmt besser als du!!!!!!!

  • @MichaelMaze1 sicher nicht!!!

  • wtfff why is this idiot hitting in the same postion

  • @najwakaram1000 this is a type of style that aiming the backhand of the player and not let him counter attack..

  • The 7 people loved that shit.

  • WTF!?

  • verdient! :-)

  • he knew hed get the point cause by doing that the other guy couldnt attack, and easier to attack than defend, so he was less likely to make a mistake

  • i think micheal maze kinda gave up, ahaha, nice point though

  • Silly guy, wasting so much energy while the other guy is lobbing it back over just waiting for the right time to attack.

  • Why doesn't he change his attcking style? No difference in the lenght of the smashes, no difference of spin, always the same attacks...

  • And that is why Asian players kick all your motherfuckers assss in alll Tournyyy... get some bitchhhhh

  • i really wanted the blue guy to lose..

  • Lol you could tell how livid the guy in blue was getting towards the end

  • fuck sake hit it with some power u asian bitch

  • แต้มนี้คนตบแม่งโคตรภูมิใจเลย 55555

  • Should have just hit a drop-shot.

  • @joeg1988 The drop-shot is not allowed in ping-pong.... the ball has to go past the table. so hitting it softly would be easy to counter

  • @paulrocks247 Only in the serve...

  • @paulrocks247 Slightly incorrect. Drop shot is perfectly legal but the lobber is likely to be putting a fair bit of spin on the ball which makes any delicate shots difficult to control. If the attacker gets it wrong then he could risk giving the lobber an easy shot to run in and attack at.

To the guy below me, the serve doesn't have to go past the end of the table either (if that is what you meant). In fact, players practice short serves that bounce two (or more) times on the other side.

  • @joeg1988 You are so damn ignorant.

  • @busterbrownation

I was just being facetious, trying to make a joke. I've played enough table tennis to build up a basic appreciation of its rules and complexities, and to understand why a drop shot in this situation might not be desirable. I know that sarcasm is hard to convey over the Internet, but you should just chill out and enjoy the video, or at least contribute something constructive to the discussion.

  • Actually well played by both of them xD

  • Well played by the guy in blue but best ever rally? All I saw were the same two shots replayed over and over again.

  • He didn't hit the forehand with all possible strenght (and with the right timing), guess he was tired

  • /watch?v=kQ5xBksN9CY&feature=related

  • fakee ?

  • If he would done all that huffin and puffin and lost ida fiked it...this was some bull

  • two words...drop shot :L

  • haha that was fun to watch!! :D

  • @imcrago i'm not sure if you quite understand how table tennis works. the GUN (guy) in the blue, aka Wu is hitting the ball with such great force and top spin, that Maze is unable to return the shot in an offensive mode. So the defense is to Lob the shot to the other side. All of that energy that Wu puts onto the ball must go somewhere. So about the only option is to hit the ball high up and arc over the net. This is common in professional table tennis, unlike your basement games.

  • @mountpunchmore why didn't he hit it to his forehand on the right side of the table? serious question i'd like to know the answer thanks.

  • y didn't the azn go short and just end it?

  • the blue guy proves this is just like tennis, a big workout.

  • wow, i can even do that on my wii!

  • @danthedude12345 me too ;)

  • if i was the guy in blue, i would drop shot it, end it a whole lot earlier.

  • i say the blue guy is boring. why can't he try something else instead of smashing the ball the same way over and over again only to tire himself out in the end?

  • @kamalhanafi may be he wanted to prove that he is better than this the man with black tees. that's why he persistently kept hitting the same way..

  • wow ... i wish i had that defensiv play ...so many times

  • Ive done infinity in infinitieth of a second! :D

  • Greatest point ever ??? See the amazeing Michael Maze in action

  • well that was a surprising ending

  • why couldnt you just tap it lol there was no way he'd make it there in time

  • @xxxxFrEsH Because the ball has so much spin, it would be hard to even get it onto the other side at all without doing what the attacker was doing. They make it look WAY easier than it really is.

  • how come there was so much noise when the guy barely hit it back?

  • i love how the gun in the blue is going all out and the other guy is casually hitting it back

  • @imCrago guy in the blue isnt smashing for a point tho... its all on the same half...

  • @imCrago it's called offense / defense

  • @imCrago seriously i mean what the fuck, ever heard of a god damn drop shot!!!!?

    ?????????????????

  • @OutofBlack7 In these countries, table tennis is as much a serious sport as it is something to show off with. Don't act like they don't know a dropshot, this is just way cooler!

  • @OutofBlack7 yeah they have heard of it, but it's outta sportsmanship they just don't drop it.

  • @OutofBlack7 there is too much spin on the ball and if he tries it will go out.

  • @imCrago that is why we called asian losers.

  • @imCrago there's a gun?!?!?!?!? HOLY CRAPSPOPO

  • @imCrago That happens all the time with long rallies.

  • a 12 year old did better at 173 in 60 secs.

  • @BDoggy45 yes but did you think that was as fun to watch as this? no. It was just a crazy asian girl. Nothing speccial

  • @BDoggy45 Ai Fukuhara, she's now a great table tennis player :D

  • @BDoggy45 ya but this was an actual game

  • @BDoggy45

    This match isn't staged

  • @BDoggy45 the dif is that the girl was just passing the ball not smashing it :D

  • @BDoggy45 that 12 year old hit from the same position and did not use very much muscle to hit the ball back, while this guy needed to actually smash the ball

  • @TheAber97 So at least he can hit the ball 173 times, which is probably a lot better than you could do, so don't hate.

  • @chinaninja19 srry if you thought i was hating i really wasnt im just saying its harder to smash the ball than what the 12 year old did. and no i cant hit the ball 173 times, i never said i could

  • @BDoggy45 that was setup, this is a real game

  • @BDoggy45 that's just rally though. This is a full match! xD

    Unless you're being sarcastic xD

  • @BDoggy45 but those were just returns no smashes or any other spins just returns, 'coz it is for the longest rally

    in the world.

  • Two LeftHanders. If you are left hander give +

  • I'm surprised that the ball didn't broke.. :P

  • they are very good but i can't help thinking that the guy in blue smashes it almost exactly where the guy in black is standing

  • @thetennisguy100 because of the spin put on it, he is forcing him to hit it that wayh as if he was to change direction or push it the spin would overwelm his bat

  • It's funny how the guy in the blue is trying to hard and the guy in the black is like whatever.

  • i remember when i had a rally almost like this when playing with my friend, then the teacher came to us and yelled at us for hitting the ball too hard..Seriously WTF

  • so incredible i thought it was looped at first lol

  • I swear I thought there was nobody there until the point ended

  • Omg the blue shirt is very tired after 36 hit ;)

  • hehe the guy smashing must have been lik "oh come on!" for 1 minute

  • DON'T HIT IT RIGHT TO WHERE YOU OPPONENT IS STANDING, MAKE YOUR OPPONENT RUN FOR IT.

  • @john17972 It's actually much easier to smash the ball then it is to lob it back onto the table, which is why the player smashing the ball tries to outplay the guy lobbing. However, the guy lobbing is one of the best lobbers in the world, so he is returning the ball well.

  • maze is the best player ever but he lost this point after a match to the death

  • Supprised the ball didnt crack 0.o

  • lol it so funny how the guy in the blue was strunting that ass!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol it so fnny how the guy in the blue was strunting that ass!!!!!!!!!!!

  • People are recommending a drop-shot when the defensive player is hitting high, deep shots with tons of spin? Maybe go play table tennis for the first time.

  • wow awesome

  • ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh xDD

  • For some table tennis trick shots visit my channel :)

  • black guy was just wasting his energy x)

  • Why doesn't the blue guy just hit it soft and get the point? Dumb

  • same beat over and over lol u could make a song

  • @ArepoEn

Mistake, becouse the ball is near the table it has much more spin when it culminates, and becouse this is very hard to hit it on the table, and if it is done, it is not more than 50% sucsess against a good defender.

  • It's not so bad, but definitely not the best T-rally ever. Rather it demonstrates how NOT to play the smash effectively against a good lobber. Very often it's much better to play the smash much before the ball culminates and close to the table, but surprisingly many high-class players does not know how to play the smash in this way.

  • @ArepoEn

    * when it is near the table it has much more spin, than when it culminates in high

  • I don't understand why the guy smashing the ball kept hitting it to the same side....is that a rule?

  • @AlfieJ06 no its just him wanting to do it! The only rule is that you have to serve to the opposite side of the table when playing doubles.

  • It's a defensive player not a 'lobber'

  • how come pros always smash it wen they see their opponent standing far? why not a little tap?

  • @iamadefender When the ball is hit so high, it has spin most of the time, the angle of tapping is not trained often, so you will be exercising a untrained stroke, which can cost you the point.

  • I have free working tips to grow taller add me !

  • The smasher was always gonna win lol. every hit was the same by him though. not that much variety.

  • so fking stupid the asian guy should just hit a short range shot

  • Toi muon tai ve mot so clip bong ban nhung khong lam sao tai ve duoc. ai biet bay cho toi voi.

  • the guy in blue poured his heart and soul into every hit lol

  • lol the one in black only messed up cos he tried to smash it. he shoulda just kept returning it carefully. the one in blue was about to die

  • Comment removed

  • That's how my matches on Playstation move are on highest diff are, only that my opponent takes the ball around a 100 times.

  • 59 hits counting the messup.

  • Maybe Tan Rui Wu shouldhave attempted a backspin to throw off Maze's rythmn after replying to so many topspins. He won anyways but oh well :D

  • Maybe a strong backspin shot from the lobber would have caught person in blacks rythmn off after replying to so many topspins.

  • sometimes it seems like maze goes into a lobbing position before he's even put at a disadvantage

  • if i was playing i bet my hand would have already pop out of the socket LOL

  • they were just spamming the same moves. boooring

  • Farq u - I played my besst game, You people are soo hard to please. Lobbing may seem like the easy route to you but try to return with a bat made out of re-melded Gnu shit. It ain't easy peasy! 'Jam my backhand' - interesting concept Mr. Nobody. Fool. Next time I in Singapore, I clean your ass!

  • why the fuck lob... and why the fuck continue to smash ? mix it up boyz.... lobbing looks pretty shite on youtube and lobbers think lobbing looks impressive yet it sucks cause they usually lose point trying to look cool..get my drift

    okey dockey

  • every time maze lift the ball it has tremendous spin and deep placement making it imposible to properly do a drop shot. the best way to counter the spin is by looping or simply drive the ball with a powerfull smash. maze is on the defensive and tai keep him jammed on his backhand avoiding a possible counter loop from michael maze lefty forehand lol

  • @DBZGUY100

    grow up

  • @DBZGUY100 if you are so ignorant about table tennis you shouldnt be watching this! And for the record Table Tennis is one of the smartest sports ever invented, something that you obviously ignore...

  • LOL @ chogak. As of July 2009 the US only had 307 million people. Get your facts straight. Oh, and I'm glad you enjoy table tennis on vacation. Cause that's about the only place you can find someone you can beat ;)

  • the thing is that tthey do it far they can do small one for them to come all way forward and 2 bounce alredy XD

  • he got pretty tired..

  • I know hey! The guy in blue should have done a small lob.

  • why didnt the retard in blue try not hitting it straight at him everytime?

  • If you have ever played TT you will realize that picking up a smash with height on it is very easy from a distance. The guy hitting the smashes seems a little bit out of ideas. When you hit a smash and a lot of your force has gone into the vertical speed, one thing to note is that gravity is working against cancelling that vertical component of your force, so by the time it comes to the opponent at a distance it is coming at a very comfortable speed. The way to do is hit a flat directed smash

  • 20 guys were drunk or on druggzz atm clicking on the "BAD" button... shame on you!...

  • Eh..? Ive seen crazy asians do cartwheels Search best ping pont point ever

  • this is the gayest straight thing ive ever seen

    srsly play football or something

  • @chogak and football isnt? diving around like a bunch of ponsies? ahah u make me laugh!

  • @JiMaNeYbOb im sure that its much better than standing in the same spot playing wannabe tennis, even tennis is better than this. ping pong is a fun game if ur on vacation i will admit that but it is not meant to be a professional sport. 1.2 billion people out of 1.5 billion people in the united states are fans of either high-school college or pro football, the 300,000 other people are nerds who CANT run or get buff like people in football

  • @chogak You are so close-minded. Table tennis is a sport just like football. Football requires being far more physically fit. Ping pong requires have far better reflexes. Why don't you stop being a typical idiot and expand your horizons?

  • @vj2hoodra *having

  • @chogak table tenis is the most payed sport in the world :/

  • @chogak

there are not 1.5 billion people in the united states.

  • @chogak nice make the nerd go back to his room and pracitce ping pong :D :D :D

  • Pssh thats nothing i got like 90 hits....on rockstar table tennis :P

  • table tennis players are really unfit
