  • the overtones produced are really something!

  • Dayum!

  • so beautiful!

I do a piece of music where I place small clitoral vibrators into tuned Bar Pint Glasses. They buzz and bounce around the bottom causing a clattering noise but occasionally they bounce off the bottom and 'ring' the upper part of the glass just like a ringing telephone. I loop a long ambient section of this 'found' chord and then I loop another

'fundamental' pitched glass and pitch it with a midi wind instrument through an electrix Repeater, tuneable live looper.

  • my very very favorite glass marbles I play ringer with are called "sea turtles!"

  • I wonder if metal aircraft ball bearings (steelers in marbles) will make unique noise? wild wild wild video...

  • @rocketshipstud1 find that metal ball bearings are a little to clattery. The size of the the glass marbles I use seem perfect to pull as much tone as possible above the clatter.

  • fantastic!...marbles are pure physics into motion!...vibration and sound...(well we could either write a termpaper on this or we can drive our baby-sitter nuts!)...or how to get divorced with red marbles...lol I bet this drives dogs and cats ears crazy!....cool video!/ @ milwaukee

  • TOTALLY COMPLETELY AMAZING

  • This is my favorite. It is magic. <3

  • It's a "natural" oscillators session... Very good :)

  • funny! from that sonic viewpoint yes!

  • Haha. Awesome ^^

Im going to try this in the morning and see if anyone wakes up XD

  • sounds like an alarm!

you can wake up with that!

  • That's eerie, but at the same time, incredibly beautiful. I love this idea, and I will have to try it =]] thanks for your musical input!

  • eheh ;) i like the idea ;)

  • That's hipnotic, beautiful.

  • When the first 3 or so bowls have the marbles spinning in them, it sounds like part of the intro to the song Time by Pink Floyd. Pretty cool!

  • Sound of glass hitting glass...very nice

    its quite suprising.

  • Sounds rather eerie and mysterious. Perhaps build a mechanism that moves the bowls around for you if you push something down.

  • very nice !

  • that's ingenious

  • pretty cool. will any bowl work or do certain bowls/material work better than others

  • whoa... sounds like a fire drill. awesome!!!

  • yeah..this is definitely awesome. Sounds very beautiful.

  • i think 5:59 may have been just a tad too long....

  • not exactly the most beautiful music :p , but aboslutely a wonderfully unique concept!

  • to be honest that is quite annoying

nice try though and a good idea

  • Sorry I just didn't like it, kinda sounded like an alarm clock gone horribly wrong

  • Now all it needs is an idm drum beat playing in the background and you've got yourself a jungle hit.

  • Gave me goosebumps o.o - amazing

  • that shares some of the haunting sound the glass armonica produces so well

  • wow that was great. I'd like to have a 60 min CD of that to listen to.

  • Very interesting sounds. Pink Floyd would have loved using these bowls for sound if they hadn't smoked so many bowls of something else and broken up.

  • this sounds like several alarm clocks going off at once . . . !!! you should experiment with clocks! I'm sure you, Sxip, could come up with some amazing sounds with a couple cuckoo clocks and the like. You're just that amazing.

  • WOW! That is a very awakening experience. Thank you, Sxip, you are pure magic.

  • Sxip's music is the non-verbal audio guide thru a mythic numinous Jungian dream. I like to close my eyes.

  • Playing my shadow

    Brings individuation

    Momentarily

    Tickle my eyeballs

I, too, like to close my eyes

    So that I can see

  • absurd, beautiful, i love that fifth bowl.

  • It makes me want cherries.

    Little, rouch cherry

    Marbles, birthed from a bowl,

    Laugh because they know.

    It's boring just to

    Lose ones marbles commonly.

    Make music instead.

  • Ahem. "round" not "rouch"

  • amazing, you knew that.

  • Very cool.. not that I'm surprised :)

  • Why this is amazing? tis Puzzling. Why it isn't amazing? All the more puzzling

  • I would never have thought of anything nearly as awesome as this. I would have broken the bowls.

  • Modern Life Orchestra

A small family of bowls got a chance to work with a marble gang via Sxip Shirey.

I had a ball singing along in my head!

    guts and bugs,

    holly
