I have downloaded the Skype Smartphone version, and let me just say, that it is utterly slow and choppy, and when I am not using a USB ActivSync connection and go on the Verizon 3G network, It's not that great/very high latency.

Couldn't you use audio headphone for audio out for skype? Wouldn't that solve the echo problem?

I tried to run the SkypeForPocketPC.exe and did not work.

Should I try Skype.exe for normal PC?

Possibly changing the QoS on your WiFI AP and/or not using the speaker phone might help with the quality...  would be interesting to see. Good stuff.
