  • nothing like Abe's work. started off with serial experiments Lain. definitely a must see for all Abe fans. Great music by the way. Epic anime.

  • Hey, Otani & co. did the music for Azumanga Daioh... loved this series and all of aBe's stuff...

  • Sooooo beautiful song! ^^

  • so pure, so holy ;_;

  • Just finished watching this series. Watched all 13 episodes in one day. It's now my favorite of all time. Beautiful song. I can't stop listening to it. Makes my eyes tear up every time.

  • this anime changed my life!

  • ummm... i just finished watching Haibane Renmei and can someone give me suggestions of an anime that's like Haibane Renmei or is worth watching? :3

  • @chochoify

if you want anime with nice visual and awesome soundtrack watch last exile in case you haven't seen it yet or hack sign the first serie.

  • @chochoify There's nothing like Haibane Renmei. It is completely one of a kind.

  • @chochoify There's nothing like Haibane Renmei. It is completely one of a kind. I would recommend Summer Wars though. It's really good.

  • @chochoify Revolutionary Girl Utena. It's being re-released. It's like... five times longer but utterly brilliant. Just skip Secret Diary. That ep can just go die.

  • I listen mostly to rock stuff but this song is so soothing.

  • 「灰羽連盟」のこの曲感動的ですね・・・

  • Haibane was one of my faviourite animes for what it represented, and the way they portrayed her transition into that world was amazing, it was really perfect.

Captivating, sad, emotional, every episode it was like stepping into theyre world =]

  • im new to chobits so i havent finished it yet but it is not as captivating as haibane renmei and doesnt even compare. it definitely didnt grab me like haibane renmei did. its peaceful and wonderful all at the same time. very worth watching over and over. i really want this to be the first anime my future children see in my opinion :)

  • How can you compare this show to Chobits? Chobits is just a sleazy, generic anime, aimed at old fat, 35yo otakus who had no childhood and wish they were teenagers again. In order to find an android sex toy in the trash bin, of course.

Also, the music in Chobits is totally forgettable, as opposed to Haibane Renmei. The soundtrack for this show was released on at least 4 CDs, and it only has 13 episodes.

    tl;dr CHOBITS IS SHIT

  • @zugurudumba I agree with you on the most part. The only thing i kind of disagree is about the OStT chobits has 3 OST's that i still remember and i've seen it years ago. Of course they aren't comparable with Haibane Renmei's.

  • i started watching this show on animedubclub a few hours ago i'm on episode eight i'm realy enjoying the show i love the characters and the music i'm very glad that i stumbled across this anime

  • Animes like Chobits, Haibane Renmei, and Kurau Phantom Memory are some of my favorite animes. They're so beautiful, you know? And the music is absolutely magnificent~

  • I did not expect this to be almost addictive. my children simply love the story.

  • @wedoawaywithyourkind

good anime can be really addictive

  • @zeke2400 ye verliy.

My little Boy has now discovered Chobits. We'll see how it goes.

  • @wedoawaywithyourkind

well at least he is watching some good anime and not all that Sh** with no story

  • this anime is a lot like serial experiment lain no stupid fan service and great story and character development

  • @zeke2400 This and Lain are by the same guy, Yoshitoshi ABe.

  • Luna Ukabu yoru wa

    Hora Yume no sora ga

    Sarigenai unmei no

    Kanata ni maneku

  • definitely one of the best story out of 150 anime series that ive watched

  • one of the best animes I have seen. no mushy mushy love tale. just a great story with great characters...

  • where can you get this song?? plz tell me

  • I bet this would be a great song for any AMV

  • i would love to have this song... can you send it to my email or show me where to download it from please?

  • awesome!

  • Just love this song, and the anime is amaizing to=)

  • i love drawing to this song...

it clears my mind and helps me think..

  • Oh yeah, trakcs like these are great for creative concetration. I write and draw to this song, what do you enjoy drawing?

  • @WhiteShadowSlayer usually dbz stuff, anime and manga...

  • i loved the fact that after reiki and raka were purified from their sin, their same names opened other meanings to them which were the ones with more powerful meanings and made it their true ones

  • that anime made my eyes get wet D:

but very happy at the same time :D

and it made me think about life and made we wish there was a town like that somewhere XD

  • I think Coraline stole this music.

  • one of the best and most complete series ever

  • love this anime !!!!!

  • Perhaps Johnny, but then why was only Reki Sin-Bound? She is the only confirmed suicide.

  • I think Reki (and Rakka) are sin-bound because they not only committed scuicide but had help and ignored it.

the whole thing with the crow makes me think that Rakka had people who were trying to help but she tried to deal on her own and killed herself. same with Reki because of the ending.

    (my take anyway)

  • Rakka was also sin-bound :\

But in her case her'symptoms' didn't start showing until kuu went away

  • Ah, a mistake on my end.

  • Wish I could be a haibane! Too bad our world isn't as beautiful (not in the physical sense) as the world in this anime.

  • Wow. What a temper you have. Who would have thought that my rather innocent comment would have provoked such a vile, angry and irrational response.

  • i wish i had wings =\ they mean alot to me v.v

  • actualy ive never tried it

my friends call me ski because my name is alaska and shen i was small i said it like alaski

P= i dont live in alaska though just have creative parents

wings are important to me because with wings im not tied down to anything and im free to do whatever i want with my life

  • @SkiSkiAlaska same even if the wings didn't let me fly i would still love to have wings

  • @SkiSkiAlaska love can give you wings, srsly :)

  • @ShinjiIkariFTW Pretty sure that only happens if you love Redbull.

  • Those who remain Sin-Bound loose their wings and halo after a while and live their lives in the Temple, never interacting with the Haibane or the humans. The Speaker was one of those who remained sinbound. Also the maker said that he used the wings and halo because they simply looked cool, so they're not "angels" They're most likely tortured souls (suicide, never born, left alone, etc.) in a purgatory of sorts before they are reborn (Day Of Flight/Day Of Leaving The Nest).

  • Haibane Renmei is a very good anime but i just dont get it. Like where did they came from or where are they going. And does the wings mean that they are angels or something?

  • I think the place where the angels are is a place between earth and heaven. Like a second chance, maby they done something horrible or they have never given chance to live on earth and they sent to this place to become what they are meant to be. I think the halo and the feathers are an idea that these people are on some sort of trial and have to overcome to become an angel in heaven. But that is just my idea of the story.

  • A trial to become an angel? Thats nice. thank you. But do you know what happens when they fail. Do they go to hell or something? And about the black wings? And what i didnt get the most was the train.

  • I think when they fail they will go to hell or maby the same thing as hell they will be erased like never excisted. The black wings stands for sinn, and when rakka ignolized herself thats she was forgiven for her sins the black feathers became grey again.

The train in reki dream was an memorie of her life on earth how she died, i think she did suicide. In her life on earth she felt like she didnt belong and noone would miss her. And the feeling of rejection was still in her in the afterlife.

  • wait, that is't right either. what about the haibane renmei? during the anime, when the head renmei guy was explaining what happens to failed haibane, it sorta told you that he was a failed haibane. i think the failed haibane are forced to live in the city for eternity as haibane renmei or something. kinda like my religion. they teach that there are different levels of heaven. hell is a state of mind. if youre in a lower level and know you couldve been with god at the highest, thats hell.

  • Throughout the anime though it was said that the entire town was meant for the haibane, so the elders could be seen as guides to the younger ones. Although the show uses highly religious symbols, it is only meant to emphasize the ambiguity of what "living" could mean. Assuming that the haibane had lives previous to this one, it could be said that they didn't quite get a chance to live a full life and this town is a place to gather themselves before they rest in peace.

  • The only thing that could prevent them from moving on, is the "sin bound" mindset where the person damns him(or her)self to complete insolation from other people, giving up on life. I like ABe's choice of suicide as the highest expression of this attitude, Reki gave up on life in her first chance in life and her only chance of redemption at this town was reconnecting to humanity by reaching out for help

This series is by far one of the best allegories on how to move on from life ever written.

  • In every dream is somoene who cares and lookes after you, in reki's dream you heared a voice calling her name, in rakka's dream there was a bird. When you remember your dream before you enter the afterlife place and understands itt its a way of accepting yourself and to forgive.

  • Waw, (In every dream is somoene who cares and lookes after you). Somehow i wish that this can happen in my dreams......... And thank you, this was some shocking information you're like a Haibane Renmei specalist... But i have one more thing: About the other people in the city or town, are they also----ahh---dead. And what about the wall?

  • I think the other people are also dead or they live in another dimension, because the world or place they are living is not on earth. You hear in the movie : your blessed to be born here as an angel <-- its something special. And I think behind the wall is someting really evil maby hell? In the wall you coudl find a lifeline from every people who lives in that city maby its a like a symbolic intrepretion of the life and death scenario. Behind the wall coudl be death itself.

  • Ok, if after the wall there is death what about those crazy people with masks (that no one can speek with) who can go in and out of the city walls.

    And there's a MOVIE?

  • is not that hard to discover if you get all the pieces together, they are people who gave up to life (commited suicide) and have given a second chance, if i interpreted well their "dreams" are the last memory of their lives or the scene of their death, rakka's bird was her friend who tried to stop her but he couldn't

  • i don´t know what means the song , i´m sorry i don´t speak japanese i wish jaja . if somebody can tell me what means i´m gonna apreciate that thank you. in mexico we know how to apreciate the japanese anime. =) hi from mexico

  • sou scry yet rly addictive

  • Naze, wasuretai no... I learned the lyric by heart! Such a beauticul song! Great quality! Thanks!

  • does you have an Ipod version of this song?

  • ummm .mp3 version

  • That IS an ipod version of this song.

  • IDK I don't own an i-pod... but do you want to send me ur e-mail? cause I can send you the song..

  • yes please.

  • everyone go watch Haibane Renmei NOW!!!

    it's great

  • I wish, that i could understand the lyrics...

  • this song is okay its just that the fact is that its too long

  • >:( It's an amazing song and I wish it was longer!!!! A song as beautiful and meaningful as this should be as long as possible!

  • to Iluvmangalots

if it was to long it'd lose its meaning

  • Yeah, I guess that's true, but I've heard songs that were longer that didn't lose their meaning. I've looked up the translation of the lyrics and if you read them, you can see that the length of the song adds to its meaningfulness rather than taking away from it.
