  • who cares! people really think there's only one church out of all the churches in the word that is right? the only right church is the one God call's you to. how sad do you think Jesus is that we cant just just love each other? people need to get off there high horse and humble before there God Jesus christ. p.s. converted catholic 2010.

  • As a member of a schismatic and protest-ant sect, this mans ordination is invalid. It always makes me laugh to hear a Christian layman such as this man say "Rome should have never tried."

  • If Lutherans, from the Catholic perspective, were only schismatic then the ordination would not be invalid. But it is according to the Catholic church, that does certainly not make Pastor Lassman's church a sect.

  • HI...you are right except Lutherans have not taught "consubstantiation" ..that label was put on Lutherans by the Reformed Church (Protestants)...Pastor Lassman

  • BUT the Lutheran Church is a part of the Reformed Church hence Luther initiating the Protestant Reformation. We could play around with terms here all we want.

  • Good question..I do it for educational purposes..technically Protestants are divided into two groups: Reformed and Lutheran and there are signifcant differences between them..but hardly anyone understands the term "reformed" so I subsitute "protestant" as a teaching device..Pastor Lassman

  • Dont you feel this presents itself a problem when believers of Calvin who descended into what is eventually Calvinism & Presbyterians after Luther feel that they are not protestants because they have reformed the church into its true being? Where do you draw the line. Each has the burden of proof on the one they decended from so Lutheranism has the burden of proof from Catholicism as it held its beliefs first. Therefore Lutherans fall into a protestant category as Luther protested Catholics.

  • @nschaub Maybe English lack a good word...in Swedish you can say that the Evangelical-Lutheran church is a "reformerad kyrka (church)" but a church which were influenced by Calvin & Co is a "reformert kyrka". I think the word protestant is always wrong to describe Lutherans as Luther did not call himself Protestant and we do not have anything to protest against, at least not now..

  • As I understand it Pastor Lassman is a confessional lutheran pastor, not a catholic priest and not a lutheran priest (there are such too). The roman catholic transsubstantiation and the lutheran consubstantiations are two interpretetations of the real presence in holy communion. Lutherans and catholics believe that in the communion I do literally receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ.

  • Can you please explain me, how come confessional lutheran is not lutheran?

The Book of Concord clearly says: "We believe, teach and confess..."

  • Am I missing something here? Is this guy a lutheran? If he is was is he teaching catholic lies?

He must be a catholic priest ? why would someone from a different church promote the lies of the RCC ?? WHats going on????????

  • He is a Lutheran, but yes many people spread lies about the Catholic Church and these misconceptions only produce an anti view against the true church of Christ. The teaching of the real presence is something in common between Catholics and some Lutherans as this is a teaching instituted by Christ. There are some differences between the two teachings, but the importance of the Eucharist still remains. I am afraid you are a rather confused on Catholic teaching.

  • You could post your uninformed comment here for the pastor to see as I am sure he could give you all the necessary information on the biblical doctrine of the real presense. As you stated "yeh, its really a miricle isnt it !! how God turns up and gets eaten by catholics allround the world every week year after year after year... and what was the purpose again? to receive eternal life was it? is that what Jesus said... eat me and you will be born again?" Please realize the true church teaching.

  • To continue the comment, the rest goes - "how many times do you have to eat jesus to qualify for salvation and heaven i wonder.." Do realize that your idea of a symbolic presense is very new to Christian history. Please do not call Jesus a liar and undermine His institution of the Eucharist and connecting us as a Christian body. This pastor could set you straight I am sure on why we must partake in the Lords Supper.

  • Don´t sweat it ; the Rev. Schaub is a Lutheran, with just one of the 40000 protestant interpretations of the Catholic Bible,

minus 7 inconvenient books. I like his sermons, though.

  • Good sound priest

  • The real presence in, with and under the forms of bread and wine is the true biblical doctrine, instituted by Jesus Christ Himself.

It is a great joy to partake the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Very good explanation pastor! God bless you

  • Don't transubstantiation and the real presense mean the same thing?

    Thanks!

  • Nice try..but that's not true - they were certainly "Catholic"..but not ROMAN "Catholic". that reality didn't start until the 6th century and took several centuries for it to come into full expression..Pastor Lassman

  • I am a member of a SSPX church, and they don't give the communion in the hand, but in the tongue, and it is only given by the Padre. BTW, excellent videos stevesilvia!!

    Keep'em coming! :)

  • Hi.thanks for the comment. Years ago we used to place it on the tongue too.....somewhere in the 1970's the custom changed and I can't really tell you why! thanks again..Pastor Lassman

  • Hi...what does SSPX stand for? Pastor Lassman

  • Society of Saint Pius X.

  • Hi..don't know if I ever got back to you..but thanks for your comments. We use to receive the Body with the tongue too ..but around 30 years ago we started using the hand...not quite sure how that change came about...Pastor Lassman

  • Pastor Lassman, Vatican II made substantial changes to the liturgy and 6 protestant pastors participated and suggested changes to make the mass more man centered, instead of God centered. The host had to be taken kneeling and in the tongue. Now is taken in the hand, casually, and gobbled down with wine, given by lay ministers sometimes with big cleavage and miniskirts. I really don't think is right. Pax et bonum.

  • Hi..Yes Vatican was a mixed bag..some good, some bad. Sigh. Thanks for your comments and I wish you God's blessings as we have entered Holy Week...Pastor Lassman

  • Thanks, Pastor and God bless.

  • Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the catholic Church. Letter to the Smyrnaeans 8, Saint Ignatius of Antioch around AD 110

  • You are right; the bishops are essential

  • AMEN!

  • Well said! I agree...indeed the Real Presence is the Gospel! His Body and Blood for the forgiveness of sins...Pastor Lassman

  • Other than the Gospel itself,Christ's real presence in the eucharist is one of the most glorious gifts God gives us!!

  • But the "Early Church" and the "Church Fathers" were Roman Catholic!
