Great tutorial! I am having my synth stop climbing though at about 5 1/2 measures, it just goes back to the base note and doesn't climb anymore at all. Any ideas why by chance? :\
when I do this, the pitch starts climbing again before I want it to. Like, I have an 8 bar climb and it will start over somewhere before usually around the 6th or 7th bar. help plz.
First of all great video. Well Explained Thanks. Second, I was having the same pitch problem that others have had below - it not rising or cutting off too short. The problem is with the LFO & setting. Just tweak (reduce) the rate down and the pitch will rise for a long time. Certainly 16 bars worth anyway. My riser still doesn't sound as crispy as yours but I'll keep tweaking. Cheers
CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEEEEEEE PLEASEEEEEEEEEE DO THIS FOR SYLENTH1 PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! IT'S KILLING ME NOT BEING ABLE TO DO IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH RYAN!!
same here, pitch drops back down, when i hold a note its pitching long till the end of the envelope, if i play new note pitch starts again from the beginning
@pshottz if you want it longer, instead of using the envelope to control the rising action, use LFO 5 and set it to the triangle wave. from there select sync and set the ratio to your desired length (such as 8-1, 12-1, 24-1). You can also select how far you want it to rise with each oscillator. Basically wherever you used Env2 replace it with a Triangle LFO

@MrRjzam hmmm true. but my parents said they DONT want to buy me massive, so torrenting it is waaayy faster. if i had the mula at the time i would have gotten it, but i didnt. the only downside is that its version 1.01 :( but still better than not having it at all. btw i AM serious with music production. check this:

ah i have an annoying problem! my synth doesn't go the full 8 bars, it just stops rising at about 7 and a half bars and then just goes flat! does anyone know how to fix this? thanks
Removing the LFO on the cutoff on the lowpass filter can be nice when Ur mixing up a build up, kinda making it more intense then the previous climb :)
great video's mate, i absolutely love them. and with the quality of your videos you should be getting paid for this pure gold. love the work mate. keep it up
what did u have going on in lfo 7? kuz it works for me without routing the lfo 7 on env 2...i think lfo 7 automates the wobbleness i guess towards the end of the rise...in the track you have...just a thought
I seem to be having the same problem everyone else is. I can't seem to get it to keep pitching with short stabs. Only when I hold the note down. I even tried what JimHarren wrote at the bottom and I still can't get it to work =/
I figured the pitch problem out guys Now when I followed this tutorial i made sure everything that nzmusic101 did, I did Once the tutorial was over the synth i created would only change pitch if I held down the note but wouldn't raise in pitch if i made a pattern using short notes You have to change the release knob on the amp envelope (4 Env) and the release on what ever envelope you set the pitch changing to. Try moving both of these knobs all the way to the right . Hope this works for every1
I've found that using the sawtooth LFO works much better than an envelope on the pitch. You can set the rate to the exact number of bars you want the pitch to climb or dive for- 4/1, 8/1, 16/1, etc. A positive number will make the pitch dive, and a negative will climb.
I've think I've found a fix ;) TIPS: may not work for everyone but worked for me... Go to "4 Env", and drag the "Release" so it points at the first "e" after "R". Basicly, just drag up the Release in Envelope four, but not too much (because then it gets stuck)
Same here. Pitch reset. But with longer notes it continues.
I noticed that the lfo @ lowpass makes sense then. It 'stutters' then.
Without the lfo, the notes are long. Kinda logical..
But if you change the 'gate' to another setting @ envelope 4, you also won't have short notes, but longer. With short notes. But then the pitch still resets all the time.
to those having trouble with the pitch effect using short notes: record the midi track as an audio track. from there, open the clip editor on your audio track. click the small 'e' at the bottom left corner of your clip editor to open a new sampling window. click transpose, and automate the pitch that way! it worked perfectly fine for me, and gives you more control over the pitch bending.
hey i was just wondering how to make the pitch start from the lower pitch every time you press play.. i'm using ableton and when i press the space bar it starts playing then i press it again to stop but then when i press it again it restarts the song but the pitch is at the same level as where it left off not low again
@hugenjapan Yea i have had a few people tell me this! i keep meaning to troll through my computer to see if i could find this project to see how i did it again! hopefully i will find out and get back to you! :-)
@nzmusic101 I'm curious to know if you ever found this project... When I hold the note down, then the pitch climb happens.. however for some reason when using the midi sequence you used, it down pitch up over tiem. It just retriggers back and forth from C3 to C4 without pitching all the way up over time... any idea why this is happening?
@JHiZ06 haha no damnit! i look everywhere but never found it! so annoying because even i really want to use this sound again! I know of a few people who have got it to work and they told me they loved the sound! but as for me i have had no luck in getting it to work which sucks!

@JimHarrenDjProducer Your my hero bro! Soo many people have wanted to figure this problem out with very little luck! i mean i would have helped try to figure it out except i lost that preset file and logic project file! good on you!!!
I think I have followed pretty well your tut and can't get it to work. I can get a rising sound when a note is held, but when i switch between short notes there, the notes just stay still. it is like the envelope is re triggered every time a note is played, so that due to the long attack you pretty much can't hear anything. would you by any chance have any idea?? thanks!!!
Yeah Im having the same problem, I get the pitch going up when I hold a key down but when I play a pattern of notes, I just stays the same pitch & doesnt rise...what are we doing wrong??
@stephenm28 yeah we are having bad luck. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the legato setting. May I ask what version you are using? I think I have 1.1.3.
I think I have the same version. I tried it with slightly longer notes & it seemed to work a bit. I reckon if we just mess around with the settings we'll get it in the end!
@stephenm28 maybe there is a bug in this version? the notes he is using in this video are really short. just can't figure it out. aaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh
Thanx for all your tutorial!!! There is something I don't understand in this tutorial. The envelope 2 "re-initialize" each time a note is played so a sequence like your in Live 8 doesn't make a long pitch bend over all notes ...why does it works for you?? But if a play a long note with my controler, yes it does a pitch bend... (sorry for my english) :)

* With short notes, the pitch reset
* With long notes it works for 8 bar only.. tried a lot, but I can't get it further
* LFO is nice for stuttering, but in the video it has no effect (?)
* Other envelope settings doesn't help, but is very nice for tweaking
