Watch the documentary "card subject to change". They talk about Sullivan starting out as a clean cut face, then experimenting with several characters. At one point apparently some people actually thought he was Satan.
Man, wrestling was awesome back in the 80's - Buzz Sayer and Tommy Rich had a hella feud going back then. Wrestling needs to be like this again, no hokey BS - just put people in real life situations, and don't be afraid to hit someone hard jeeessss.
@mankind2112 No need to hit anyone hard. This is the illusion of hitting someone hard. I wrestled from many years and I was always accused of being too stiff or laying in potatoes. I admit, it's loads of fun hitting someone (depending who you don't like). Mando Guerrero would always whine about having to work too hard in the ring. He was in a hurry to get to his other wine.
Here in Florida Kevin was a face as the 'Boston Battler' but became a heel afterwards. Sawyer used to be a fall guy but came back as the 'Mad Dog' and was a great heel! This really is both in their primes.
Sullivan was at this time a heel in Florida but was still a face in Georgia. It happen a lot. Piper would come from Mid Atlantic were he was popular, to Florida and be a complete dick. It was amazing because here in Jacksonville we got a lot of syndicated wrestling TV shows from everywher between 1981-1987...MACW, Mid South, WCCW, Alabama, WWF, GCW and of course CWF. Man, Saturdays were awesome because we had a lot different promotions to watch. Mis those days!!!
@ZenPimps That is something I've pointed out a lot. Back in the 1980's it was still possible to be a face in one territory and a heel in another due to the fact that cable hadn't penetrated as many areas yet. Of course now it is next to impossible to pull such a feat off and its not just due to cable but the internet makes it really impossible.
@meekrob Yep. All that changed in the 90's with guys like Austin and the Rock. They would do and say heelish things but they still would get massive babyface pops.
I believe Sullivan started out as a face wrestler in his career. But don't quote me because I could be wrong. I seem to remember reading that either in a wrestling book or a back issue of an old wrestling magazine. This was an outstanding matchup with lots of intense action! Great video!
Both of these men were at their best shape to contest each other. Too bad we did get to see them really go at it instead of out of control brawl. Was there another match that they got to finish?
Two smaller guys with big hearts and huge wrestling talent.

@Sargebri That, plus the fact that the face/heel dynamic doesn't really matter all that much anymore.

Kevin dishes out nearly 5 minutes of arm punishment, and then goes back to Buzz's arm at 6:25. Too bad the match ended in pandemonium.
