  • This is the truth of what we are becoming. I love my country dearly but we have nurtured a police state. This is what it is like to be different AND this is how hard it can be to make a difference! I love this one eyed activist. Lets end hunger. It could be done quite easily. And lets not ever be afraid to speak the truth even when outnumbered by hostile idiots. Thank you for your efforts. You got me to take notice and get fired up!

  • Nice video and keep up the awarness....

  • Like those smoking ads. The ones where they put the chalk outlines or the body parts all over the streets. They requested a license to use the public areas and went through the proper channels to get their points across. Why risk tarnishing your objective by going around the process? I still think that you guys are a terrific organization but you don't need sympathy from people to reach your goals, you can only hope that people resort to being humane in this country cause it's long overdue

  • Do you HONESTLY think the city let them do that for FREE????

For a non profit organization that gives the money they earn to people, it's alot of money.

But, I like your cause sapperman. Actually, I don't, because your cause is..? I dunno, your post was completely useless.

They're doing it the right way, and are reasing hungrr awareness, and I support their cause, and this video.

  • Why did you even post your comment? I never said I had an agenda or cause. Non profit organizations pay for licenses all the time for rallies. Do you think that people can just walk down a street for a protest and not get the permission from the city? They have to otherwise everyone would be arrested for disturbing the peace and various other charges. My post was an observation from my perspective of the video. If I even cared about your opinion I would ask you what you thought about it.

  • I agree and support their cause one hundred percent but they have to do it more intelligently. If you are trying to raise awareness or get donations on private property then you need to have enough courtesy to at least ask the owners of the property otherwise these things will happen. I donate my extra money throughout the year, not just holidays but I give my money to organizations that don't resort to silly stunts or bending the rules because they are the forefront of nobility.

  • Man those Jack A**es have a lot of nerve treating the mascot of hunger like that!

    Geoff Lafayette

    Director/Writer/Producer

    BUCKYSTEIN

    BONES SKELETON: ZOMBIE VS. ALIENS!

  • nice way 2 protest, heck yeah...

  • How more modern art can you get than this?! They should've paid you for being there!

  • It's based on the Newman's Own model. Have a little fun, and do a little good. Sell stuff people might like and give the profits away. It's much simpler to set up and run than a non profit. And we pay federal, state and local taxes. Mostly, it's about getting people talking and thinking about hunger in America.

  • 2 thumbs up. Keep up the good work man!

  • Only their "profit after taxes" is donated to fight hunger. Why aren't they a non-profit organization?

  • There a difference between wanting to get the word out on an issue and just being attention starved.

  • Bah. Stupid hippies.

  • Yeah, their trying to help less fortunate people, they must be hippies... fuckin moron.

  • btw... katu lata kulu is not Japanese, it's Finnish...

    Stupids!!!

  • Shouldn't the money you spent on the costumes have gone to charity?

  • stupid students waste the governments money on controlling the protests.dressing up wont do anything about it.

  • nor will negative attitudes.

  • good stuff other folks cant understand i was a hunger kid

  • What a load of CXXP - no one in America starves and a very, very few are "hungry" on occasion - check out the rest of the world and you will know what real hunger is. Hell, just go to the Mexican interior and you will see some pretty harsh stuff. Lefties really need to wake up and deal with the real world.

  • Right, we shouldn't waste our time fighting hunger in America because people in other countries are hungry too... or are hungrier... Not smart. I'm sure that we can fund one person thst has starved last year and I am sure that at least one more will starve in 2007, your unfounded blanket statements are false.

Stop trying to pass your opinion off as fact.

  • Right on

  • I have no problem helping those in need, but we should refuse to take part in any action that keeps poor people dependent on the system, like welfare. Giva a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for life. Convince a man that he needs the you to give him his fish and you make him a slave.

  • Give a man a a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you've lost your customer base.

  • what the fuck was that?

  • I HAVE A SOULUTION! Ramen, GENUIS! $0.10 a PACK! I think all you need is a tap and vitamins on that and you could live off of it!

  • Actually, we have donated time and money to the local food banks. We also take time out of our lives to go out and have a little fun and help people remember that people in America need help feeding their families.

  • Wow! That's right up there with the young man who stood in front of the moving row of tanks in Tiananmen Square in 1989! Very risky! Very cutting edge! Well done! Now take the money you spent on the costume, signs and videocamera and donate the proceeds to your local food bank.

  • Yeah, real revolutionary like. Where's your Che shirts? Every hippie college student has at least 3 of them.

  • This video makes me something... I don't know if it's angry or if it's hungry.

  • We've spoken to people about hunger and many have listened and enjoyed our antics. If one person gives some time or a couple dollars to their local food bank or just starts to think about the issue of hunger, we've done something.

read about what people are doing in their towns and cities:

    check out hungrr dot com

  • wtf was that that was a waste of a download ffs i cant believe i watched that crap

  • How about doing something about the obese? The spill-over benefits of more food would go to the hungrry silly rabbits :P

  • Only end hunger for fat people.

  • y not just use your time and run a food drive to collect food for those who need it.

  • Please realize that in performing a publicity stunt, there are protections we as americans have and you are STOMPING on them, by ABUSING your free speech rights, PLEASE for the sake of YOUR OWN cause and any cause that needs to be fought for, FOLLOW THE LAW. and quit being idiots to the people and places whom are just doing their jobs.

  • some folks just dont have imagination to njoy something;p

  • sadly there are hungry people everywhere

but protesting in a museum is a bad idea... i would throw out anyone in costumes that ridiculous... props for trying to help people though

grr. hunger makes me mad. grr.

  • At Wal-Mart, you can buy Ramen noodles for 14 cents.

Although Ramen will probably kill you faster than hungrr...

  • and why is this under comedy?

  • lol they aint spelt anything wrong hungrr is there thingy ma jig and stop criticising them if they want to stop hunger they can i dnt see anyone else doing it.

  • im pretty hungry right now

  • I'd have thrown the morons out too.

  • You can start by spelling hunger correctly so kids don't have to stay in the streets or work McDonalds because they're "unedjumucated" :P

  • lol exactly

  • you spelled "hunger" wrong

  • Time will tell what we have accomplished. People on the street have been positive and interested. We've spoken to people about hunger and many have listened and enjoyed our antics. If one person gives some time or a couple dollars to their local food bank or just starts to think about the issue of hunger, we've done something. read about what people are doing in their towns and cities:

    check out hungrr dot com

  • When you worry about taking a serious stand, I'll pay attention. All I saw in that video was a bunch of illiterate attention seekers.

  • Yes we are attention seekers. We seek the attention of those who are unaware of the real issues of hunger in America and around the world.

  • Look, I agree, hunger is growing and all that, but a museum is private property. You are being a bit of a hippy by dressing up in orange and chanting like you're worshipping some hunger gods or something. Just donate money or something to a homeless shelter. Honestly how many people do you think actually did anything about hunger after you did this?

  • Hunger and starvation are natures way of culling the herd. SORRY, I DIDN"T MAKER THE RULES, MAN! Some people are able to find food for themselves and their families. SOME ARE NOT! Just like in the animal kingdam, people, can you at least follow THAT simple piece of logic. WE ARE ANIMALS before we are anything else. Liberal "problem fixers" are just starry eyed DREAMERS attempting to alter the the human condition at its very core. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS!

  • so you see no need for a social remedy if "just like in the animal kingdom" people went around stealing others' "kill" ?(ie food) If i came to your crib and said gets to stepping and put the pie down before you do, you wouldn't run to the local constable for "problem fixing"?

  • ROFL!

  • im sure every third world child dying of starvation really got a kick out of that.

  • what the hell were they dressed as?

  • If one person volunteers some time or donates a few bucks to their local foodbank as a result - or just thinks about the issue of hunger - we think we will have "made a difference".

  • I'm sure you accomplished so much from this stunt....

  • I take a STAND against bad public service videos.

  • They could have spent the money they used on those stupid outfits to help feed hungry children. Hypocrites.

  • We all work.

  • not only should they have thrown these jobless idiots out, they should have busted their skulls open to teach their lazy asses a lesson.

  • this is stupid

  • Want some cheese with that whine? I got gas, or I have to use the bathroom, don't know which.

  • that was stupid - how is that gonna help hunger?

it would make more sence if they gave food to

bums on the street. give money to charity

Salvation army / the united way. Duh!

  • everyone wants to be famous. Like PETA, these people are more interested in becoming celebrities than making a difference.

  • DO NOT GIVE TO THE SALVATION ARMY - and the United Way spends too much on executives running the United Way and not enough goes to the people in need.

  • A lot of hungry, poor, and homeless people are mentally disabled, so does that mean they should starve to death? How about we raise federal minimum wage to something you can actually live decently on? And people are like blah blah its their fault ok it might be their fault but does that mean their children should starve because of it? Douche bad ass hole republicans. Rich dumb spoiled shits.

  • stfu

  • Read the government's latest, the United States Department of Agriculture's Report. That's where the numbers come from.

  • I hear the sound of a douche bag getting owned by Gaaagle.

  • Gotta love the random "38 million americans". Are Hungrry? Idiotic, and Al Gore heating himself up in his one-eyed Pumpkin Warming costume is a hoot though. This would be funny if it wasn't a horseshit propaganda piece.

  • what museaum was that? i disagree with the way they handled that and i think u weren't bothering anyone and it was a good cause. u weren't even talking to people promoting an idea. just cuz u were wearing a suit and making a statement, they asked u to leave. I will not go to a place like that. people like that do not deserve my business.

  • Politics are everywhere brother, and some people out there don't like to have it thrown in their face everywhere they go. I completely understand why the museum booted them.

Did they get permission ahead of time?

  • what u said makes no sense. if u had read my post before replying, you would have noticed that I had mentioned that they weren't bothering anyone. therefore, no one had anything thrown in their face. they came to see art and saw a moving exhibit, they don't have to look at it and are free to move away.

  • the one-eyed monster

  • rofl

  • yawn

  • we should feed them all of the overweight people in America lol just kidding chill chill

  • It looks like the security guard ended Hungrr. We need more security guards to fight Hungrr where ever it may strike.

  • That sounds as good an explaination as any.

  • i think i get it the odd orange things won't go away cuz it's like that whole elephant in a room thing. u have to make it go away by doing something about it... i could be totally wrong. :D

  • The issue of hunger in America is not one of starvation or famine that exists throughout the world.

In the US, there are 38 million in need of food assistance. Many children are malnourished. Their numbers are growing.

    www.each1-teach1DOTorg/Home1.asp

They are not starving. And the obese are often malnourished.

  • You can't feed your kids, don't have them. Can't fee yourself? Should have finished high school. Still hungry, work hard and don't spend your money on bullshit. Still can't feed yourself? Too bad.. life, survival of the fittest

  • ah, the invocation of darwin. the most ironic of all conservative rhetoric.

  • yeah, people taking responsibility for themselves...that is real crap. the liberal mind wants to care for everyone...it's kind of cute, but VERY unrealistic. you take the food you worked for and feed the hungry people with that. you go hungry so someone who does not want to work can feed their kids. you take care of them since you care so bleeding much. take off the silly suit and take them YOUR food. didn't think so.

  • I personally have counted pennies to feed my husband and I. We both work, and want to work. I lost my job because I asked for more hours.

  • It happens. All sorts of unfair things happen. You won't catch me complaining cause it's my responsibility to take care of myself and my husband, but starvation and hunger is sometimes hard to control, and even sometimes out of your hands. Even people who work, and work hard get burned. Sure there are people who just need to get a freaking job cause they're bums. But I'm not one of those people. And I know there are other's out there who've been thrown one too many loops.

  • Starving Americans? I don't think the world is gonna give a shit about that. MacDonalds LOVES to feed you people! Maybe we should kick our own MacDonalds to the States, so they can help too!

  • Haha.

The Protect the Innocent Bystander From Activist's Exploitation Foundation. Give that man a grant.

  • hahaa, thats great. The security guard tells hunger to leave. He didn't even realize he was being an activist. Is there an organization that works to prevent normal me and yous from being tricked in activism?

  • *i mean "...tricked INTO activism." oops.

  • cool.

  • this is stupid.

  • Thank you.

  • I can't understand what the black man says to the One-Eyed character... Would you transcribe it???

Hahah nice response from the MOMA to a Happening, or sort of.

  • ... Damn I hate it when people can't just understand. When you donate money. You DON'T GET IT BACK... You'll have pelped some other humanbeing and that is your reward. Also I hate also the other way of thinking it. If I donate money. OF COURSE I WANT TO KNOW THAT I AM DOING A GOOD THING. I say the golden middle way is the only way.

  • If you donate 10% of your income to charity as faith in god, you shall receive it back in some way.

...i like RECIVE IT BACK...so donate means ti give and get something else, i thought that was buying

  • some people also have poverty -.-;

  • Thanks.

  • Hooray for activism! Keep up the good work :-)

  • i think it works, but needs to be more informative.

  • That´s freedom of speech right?

    Americans are really blind

  • its freedom of speech, not freedom to do whatever you want. they were doing more than talking, and are subject to the same laws as everyone else.

  • Like what?

To me it seems that all they were doing was stand still holding some sings!

  • If you donate 10% of your income to charity as faith in god, you shall receive it back in some way.

  • kids and old people, lol showing them we care, so sad

  • This is a street awareness campaign. It is meant to take people off guard in person, and in a lightly humorous way, get them thinking about the issue of hunger in America. People on the street have been positive and interested. We've spoken to people about hunger and many have listened and enjoyed our battles. If one person volunteers some time or donates a few bucks to their local foodbank as a result - or just thinks about the issue of hunger - we think we will have "made a difference".

  • so whats the point?

  • You gotta leave Sir. Sir you have to leave. Ha.

  • good thing there are starving people in the world then...cause if there weren't, then I would be starving apparently.. and we couldn't have that...

  • pretty cool =)

  • They are not starving. And the obese are often malnourished.

    Read:

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5576/obesity_and_poverty_the_poorest_of.html

  • Go to hell you Damn hippys!! :P

  • compared to most other starving people in the world, americans sure are fat.

  • You have to love Youtube its a great way to get any message out!

  • The complete nonsense is to believe in governemants to erradicate poverty and distributed equally. I am from Brazil! and most of polictians are corrupted.

  • but was it intended as art, or as a demonstration? Maybe they were kicked out because they were demonstrating over some social issues (hunger).

  • I read once that if all the useable food supply on Earth were equally distributed amongst everyone, we'd all starve to death.

  • And my parents told me that Santa Claus brought me gifts. There is enough useable food to feed everyone over and over in the world today. When a region faces starvation, it is because war, sanctions, some idiot dictator, etc. disrupts the transportation of food shipments. Just go check out the agricultural statistics. They're on the web. Actually, some countries burn excess food.

  • you guys should try doin that outside the white house, they may be more able (though probably less willing) to help financially, very cool vid tho keep it up!!!

  • national security will probably get to them before they even set it up :X

  • even if bill gates used all his monney to end hunger, it woiuld only last like 2 days because its too much.

  • This is complete nonsense, there is enough food for every human being on earth, it's just not distributed equally.

  • This is true. They actually destroy food to keep the prices falsely inflated.

Ironic that the Museum of Modern Art doesn't seem to appreciate a bit of it in their lobby. LOL

  • pretty cool video- raises a little bit of hunger awareness, while simultaneously making a jab at stuffy academic "high-art" institutions like the moma.

  • It was real and fun.

  • Actually, we were very surprised they let us in at all.

We were just as surprised they threw us out.

They only asked that we leave our signs in the coat check and that we just shoot videotape in the lobby and garden areas.

    See http://hungrr.com for other clips.

  • Was this a real demonstration, or just for fun? Either way it's hilarious.

  • finally, an intelligent response. i completely agree with you lestinky.

now i'm going to go out on a limb here... but one could deduce that when the group chose the MoMA to demonstrate in while wearing strange bright orange jump suits, they went in with full knowledge and intent to be "kicked out" so that they would be given a reason to post this video. now if so much thought had gone into a fundraising venture to benefit the fight against hunger.... hmmm...

  • also, most museums have a policy on photography which bars commercial photography without permission, people walking around in bright orange costumes and jumpsuits could easily be construed as commercial photography. don't get me wrong, i am all for public demonstration and civil protest, however, it needs to be in the right place. it is not fair to put institutions like that in the position to be the bad guy when the individuals there may agree with whatever you are trying to say.

  • it is silly to think that a demonstration without consent wouldnt be met with resistance at a place like MoMA. it is fair to assume that the same resistance would be met at a place like the library, a movie theater, or any "public" event. it is disruptive to the audience that paid admission to see in this case art.

  • This is why I don't like MoMA. They were supposed to be about the cutting edge of all kinds of art, but now they've taken modern art as of 1987 and put a hermetic seal on it.

  • ...

  • kids die from hunger bacuase stupid people collect the money. those people are stupid they are uninvited and they should not decide for other people whats normal and ok and whats not all this civil righs workers are extrimst if you know what i mean. and the guy had no right to tell them to turn off the camera i hope it makes him feel better to pretetnd that he is somebody for me he is a piece of sh*t and abusing his power just like cops do

  • wich moma is this

  • NYC

  • The security guard is pretty stupid telling them to turn the camera off - it's a public area (even if it's on private property), and they have every right to film him and anyone else they'd like to. All he can do is tell them to leave (which he does).

  • actually, it is against the law to film or photograph (unless its purely personal and not being shown to large audiences, such as youtube) inside any public or private building without written permission from the owner/manager/etc... its also illegal to film just anyone, because it is illegal to show people's likeness wihtout their permission to an audience. i got in a while lot of trouble for all that before, believe me.

  • How can I put this nicely...uhm, you're wrong. Completely wrong. It's your right (under US law) to film any person at any time they are in an public area - and note that this is a public area; even though it is on private property, the people there have no "reasonable expectation of privacy".

Broadcasting the footage later is a completely different issue. The fact remains that it's not 'against the law', and you certainly don't need written permission.

  • The guy sent him out because he had his head covered, it's like walking into a shopping center with a motorcycle helmet on. Or into just a small street shop, they can send you out if they want. Anyway your not meant to cover yout face in a public building, if you do they have the right to send you out, because you look suspisions.

If he shown his head it would of been ok.

  • Good message, but one could say that you're actual stance is to end poor spelling. Hahaha, just kidding.

  • I feel that your act would have been more appeciated at a graphic art show vs. the stuck up formal art museums. Specially' the Museum of Modern Art... but none the less good message... but I dont feel that this video works too well because you seem to be showing two things, the right to protest, or the right to eat. Which is your main point?

  • Nice message and neat video. I liked your presentation, however I don't think making people mad in the museum was a good way to go. If it was done with more consideration of others you probably would have gotten a better response. I still like your idea and presentation and I wish you luck in your message! :D

  • Can't believe it took the museum so long to notice a luminous orange suit? Mmmm... I wonder how long it would take them to notice a man exiting with a large canvas?

  • it takes them 2 minutes and 33 seconds. dont ask how i know... >_>

  • This is not an attempt at making a political statement. This is a street awareness campaign. It is meant to take people off guard in person, and in a lightly humorous way, get them thinking about the issue of hunger in America. If one person volunteers some time or donates a few bucks to their local foodbank as a result - or just thinks about the issue of hunger - we think we will have "made a difference".

  • this attempt at making a political statement is a total farce. it's obvious the people involved are more concerned with being recognized as artists rather than participating in any sort of real activist effort. If they're attempting to make an ironic statement about the ridiculousness of activist art without a solution, than it's a gem! but if they're serious about what they're doing, they should just go join the Peace Corp and actually make a difference.

  • The people in the museum were very much enjoying the fun and interested in our message. Also the security guards allowed us in. Not the enemy at all. The enemy is Hungrr.

  • are they saying that the bourgoise should stop looking at art and do something about the hungry? they want to get a few people to join them? eh, i don't think it worked, and I think they knew it wasn't going to work. More a long the lines of "let's make people mad because we think we are right" mentality.

and, they vilify the security guard. He's just doing his job....trying to make money so HE won't go hungry, they don't appreciate that though. he doesn't agree, so he's the enemy too.

  • very powerful, thank you

  • I don't get how MoMA connects to what you're trying to say at all...

  • Modern art thrown out of the museum for modern art. What a free land... lol

  • Thank you! Funny imagery. Serious Subject. World Wide

    Tragedy.

  • These people are the best - hunger is a huge problem in this country and the world. If you were hungry it would be an issue, not a joke

  • I'm hungry i think im gunna go eat 4 sandwichs cause i could :)

  • art is powerfull and can change the world

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGEbHwtedn8

  • Only because you make it powerful subjectively.

  • Great idea. What does orange mean?

  • The battle against Hungrr is not a protest. It's a funny way to remind people of the less fortunate people in their own communities. It's a campaign to take people out of their own worries and personal concerns, have them smile and think about helping someone else.

  • that was stupid. go protest to the city or the capitol or something. or better yet use all that effort to actually do something and feed someone.

  • Did I miss something? What the hell does a guy in an orange suit have to do hunger?

  • its ok to protest. you guys suck for going into a museum and making them look like their the bad ones. they have nothing to do with it. take your point were it belongs.

  • Im hungry now someone feed me

  • nice job

  • good work...not to mention the many people who are one paycheque away from being homeless and hungry...

  • Detroit.

  • Thanks for your protest. Thanks for your awareness. You're doing a good thing. Be encouraged.

  • fun times

  • Oh that everything were as simple and easy to explain as you suggest.

We think the issues that contribute to hunger in the USA are social, cultural, spiritual, and commercial. The issue of hunger in America is not one of starvation or famine that exists throughout the world.

In the US, there are 38 million in need of food assistance. Many children are malnourished. Their numbers are growing.

    http://www.each1-teach1.org/Home1.asp

  • r u kidding there is hunger in america? u don't even know the real meaning of the word.

  • Thank you jax. Thanks for your important work.
