I don't know what everyone is raising a storm over. I think that the CGI is an improvement because the characters are more expressive now. Seeing Thomas' face move is just too cool! I love animation!

my most number 1 complaint or thing i hate the most (and this is coming from a thomas fan starting from almost the beggining of my life) is that THERES WAAYYY TO MANY NEW CHARACTERS!!!! like i think after oliver they just went to much overboard really theres way 2 many they need to de port them away and leave the original engines alone IMO

@saurfan Lots of the -new- Characters you speak of, are in fact ORIGINAL to Rev W. V. Awdry and his original Stories he told to his son. True though... There are lots that are not of his creation, and I hate the fact they are going with CGI... I'll miss George Carlin and Alec Baldwin as my two favorite narrators... Gah! and the fact that they are so "Kiddiefied" makes it even worse... I don't want "Bob the Builder" in my Thomas! Everything went down hill after Britt Allcroft left the series...

i too grew up with the old Thomas and so have the generations before us, but things evolve as time moves on. Thomas was bound to have some major changes happen at some point. i really don't mind the CGI animation, but it's weird. i'm used to the old models. but at least their faces still look the same.

Although it's a big change from the old series, I personally don't really mind the new changes, actually. Yes, the CGI is much different and it causes new effects and the way that the show looks. I grew up watching the old series, and if you really pay attention, you can't help but notice that Thomas was already changing over the years in many different ways. The models have changed, gradually with small details. Even the 'animation' has changed. So, this really came as no surprise to me.

Of course, it's called Cartoon Network for a reason! Now there's practically no difference between it and Adult Swim! It's worse than all those new shows on that aired on CN last summer, like Flapjack, Johnny Test, and Total Drama Island, except Skunk Fu of course, that's an awesome show.

The only reason why HIT made this horrid transition is because they wanted to express more flexibility and "the models were getting too expensive to run". What kind of sad, lame excuse is that? How can running a few toy trains cost more than designing motion-capture faces and characters on a computer?

I was thinking the same thing. I would think animating the engines and faces would take longer than filming real model trains with moving eyes and static faces. Even if the models are more expensive to run, Thomas DOES NOT BELONG IN CGI! I thought the show was ruined when the yuppie parents took control and claimed it had to be "more educational" than it already was, making the new episodes slow and boring. But the CGI thing is too much in my opinion.

yeah plus I noticed a GOOF in the sea12 epi. that was called Best Friends. Were after thomas brought Emily to were she had to go, just before they stop you can see on the tracks a little wasp nest looking thing that makes the steam look like its co ing from the engines but really from it.

The idea of Thomas episodes were that they were short and sweet. They talked about journeys which covered possibly HOURS in seconds with a catchy theme tune (HEnry going from Tidmouth harbour to the mainland England, The Flying Kipper though he crashed), because the new episodes lack in interesting factors and more of repetition, if they go on for 7 mins, that might be boring, but any longer will completelt lose our interest and concentration. BUT HEY! It wasn't aimed at us and it ain't now!
