wow this is pretty accurate because they just put up that cellular tower there a couple of months ago and it was there in this video. my friends dad ken flies all the time i have always wondered what it looks like up there lol ive just never wanted to do it because im affraid of falling. have you ever fell out of a thermal?
@NMERider lol yeah i live in top town right down the street from playground where you guys launch and my friends have tried to get me to hanglide one day, I dont know man it looks like it must feel like a dream to fly, but what you just said how you can fall like a brick.
Is it really worth the risk? does the feeling of hangliding far outweigh the negative side of it?
@ArBiTeR0000Tactical I fly in turbulence that most other pilots avoid which is why I get some nerve wracking experiences. Most pilots fly in smooth conditions where you don't get dropped like that. The risks are very manageable and there is no other experience on Earth like it which is why I fly as much as I do and as hard as I do.
Probably one of the better narrated XC flights I've seen. Excellent work. It is rare in a free flight video that one can get into the pilots head and figure out what he's thinking, your video brings this quality out masterfully. Thanks for sharing.
@hamboot Thanks. I have a lot more XC video to edit and narrate going back 18 months. I'll be churning it out bit by bit while testing different narration styles. .
Nice flight! I was clenching up a bit with your altitude for approaching Keller. The only time I ever got near Keller was when Kenny Westfall, I and a few other crazies launched their in about 1977. Launched right off the road at Keller. Several tried to make it out the canyon with not to good of results. Ken and I flew west and made it some the highway descending down the canyon and landed there. Was pretty poorly planned and executed, but a memorable flight.
just finished watching this, Need more pilots doing videos like yours you share the info very well thank you. hope to see more with a commentary like this one.
@CraigRidley1 I take that as a true compliment. I loved that actor's delivery in Matirx. I'm still trying to find my own narrative voice. I'll keep working on it.
what things are usually the best thermal triggers? do u find thermals that are pretty much always there in certain places that you fly on a regular basis, like can you totaly work out an area if u fly it enough?
@immortalisblog I prepare a mental flight plan according to the weather and soaring forecasts but usually have to change it during the flight depending on what the wind and air currents are doing. It's pretty dynamic. A lot like sailing too.
@NMERider anyway, I love your videos. Too bad I live on the Great Plains (in Hungary), with the highest point of 110meters (330ft), so there's no chance to try hang-gliding... :D
Hey, very good!!!!! R U an Instructor? Would you have someone you could refer to me?
Plz, keep posting, it's very good and pleasant to watch!
thanx

@ArBiTeR0000Tactical Yes, I've gotten dumped sideways out of thermals and dropped like a brick.

@menamiketrx 1977 sounds like some classic fun times. Especially given the equipment.

Very pretty scenery.

@johntsingis Thanks. It's a very scenic route. Too bad that only a handful of us regularly fly its full length.

Wow, it is so beautiful! Do you have a filghtplan prepared more or less prior to the actual flying, or you just follow the wind and warmer air?
