The signals were tapped during the game then looked at after the game. The NFL reviewed the case and stated that it did not give the Pats any advantage (along with other teams). Two time superbowl winning head coach Jimmy Johnson admitted to doing what the Pats did and he also stated it didn't give his team an advantage.
A few months back the Bronco's did the same thing as the Pats against the 49ers and lost, which proves once and for all spygate gave the Pats no advantage.

The signals were tapped during the game then looked at after the game. The NFL reviewed the case and stated that it did not give the Pats any advantage (along with other teams). Two time superbowl winning head coach Jimmy Johnson admitted to doing what the Pats did and he also stated it didn't give his team an advantage.
A few months back the Bronco's did the same thing as the Pats against the 49ers and lost, which proves once and for all spygate gave the Pats no advantage.

By the way, the player Alosi tripped was out of the play anyway, so there wasn't an advantage there.

The NFL punished the Patriots so much because they broke the rules and the NFL also wanted to send a message to all the other teams doing what the Patriots did, for example the Jets.
And yes their was an advantage to tripping a player of the opposing team during a punt return. How is their not? The Dolphins get one less guy than the Jets. PLUS he could have messed up the runners career! What the Jets did just goes to show how much of a scummy, classless origination they are.

Many people who now work for ESPN/FOX/CBS that played in the NFL have also said that they saw their team and other teams doing the same thing, so the Pats were not the only team doing "spygate."
Spygate didn't give the Pats an unfair advantage, but coaches tripping opposing players on the sidelines does.
