  • Torture is dispicable.

Remember the rats that were used in 1984? I am sure that they prevented some "terrorism" in Oceana too.

  • Is the US a nation of laws or not?

If we are, lets just follow the rules. Charge the Al-Qaeda prisoners as unlawful combatants, give them a trial, and then shoot the guilty ones.

Not even the UN can argue with that since it is right from the Geneva Convention.

Or we can just ignore the law and torture - which is bullshit.

We hanged Japanese and Nazis for that very crime after WWII.

Is that who we wish to become?

  • I agree absolutely.

  • @tenebroust If we are to prove to the USA has progressed, we need better methods.

  • @airforcemax You're damn right we do.

  • @tenebroust and everyone who GIVES A DAMN !!! The USA needs an open forum for profit and nonprofit organizations that are pro-worker (pro-business), the labor with supporters for viable solutions.

  • @airforcemax Agreed.

  • @Peridolin President Barack Hussein Obama II needs to remember the spirit of "Change We Can Believe In." Who and what are hindering him from his promises? I do my part by writing letters through the White House website. 55ella2007k and orwellsdaughter give excellent commentaries and I am proud to say we are friends. The USA needs an open forum for profit and nonprofit organizations that are pro-worker (pro-business), the labor and supporters for viable solutions.

  • Very well put. I actually used your same argument about using torture on presumed murderers in this country with a retired navy man and he actually got mad. They (republicans) like to use the argument "well they dont recognize a nation or wear a uniform therefore they dont fall under the geneva conventions" FAIL. Enemy combatants are EITHER military POW's OR civilian combatants, and they both fall under the geneva conventions. No one falls outside the law.

  • You're right. I'm not surprised he got mad. The argument is valid as it is at the crux of this issue. People who support this HAVE TO be in favor of this being brought here and used on us or they can't support it at all.

  • I think that we will find ourselves disagreeing on this issue friend. You see, I pay little to no attention to this topic for several reasons. Most importantly, I do not feel like what has been brought to light, is the extent of what our government routinely does to captives, whether citizens or suspected terrorists. Secondly, I do not feel as if waterboarding is torture. Thirdly, I feel like this topic only serves as a large distraction, referencing my first point.

  • Hey, that's cool man. I love all opinions. And I think you could be right on many levels as well.

  • 5 stars and thanks

  • Thank you for W and C.

  • i think the hat's clean lookin..

  • Thanks...I think?

  • I like the hat.

I agree 100% with you on this torture business.

  • Thank you.

  • Secondly, our enemies will continue to torture and execute our soldiers regardless of the Geneva Convention, ROE or any other asinine law passed against it. Such is their nature. The Geneva Convention stated that all POW's must be treated humanely, yet this doesn't stop Chechen muslims from hacksaw-ing off Russian soldiers' heads in front of their buddies.

  • Again you have a valid point, thanks for posting it.

  • It is a cool hat. I'll be sure to check out Ella's vids in a few minutes. Canada has also been guilty of secretive torture as well, as has come out in recent years. "Only in extreme circumstances." And who decides this? And who decides how far? The 'evidence' of torture is questionable at best, because of course if you're being tortured you'll say anything (or most would) to give their torturers what they want, whether it's true or not. Good video.

  • Thanks N.

  • This is one area where I have to respectfully disagree with you. You do make valid points, but consider this: If you don't trust the government to tell you the truth, then why would you trust them to follow their own laws? (We already know that they don't). If torture is made illegal, people will still be tortured regardless, but instead of the incident being documented, people will just disappear in the night, a la USSR (where I was born).

  • That is a good and valid point. I don't have an answer for it either.

  • When we except torture then our enemies will have justifacation to torture our people taken prisoner. It doesn't work.

  • The point is lost on those that support it, as well as every other reasonable argument.

  • your hat is awesome , and it does look cool , reminds me of the hat worn in 1920;s style

and i too hate torture , because it could happen to anybody ,

  • Thank you, and thank you.

  • I really like your opening intros on that book, really good stuff.

Nazzis tortured people. The people that support torture claim to be afraid if they're against it, that they are Bin Ladin Lovers. I'd take that over Nazzi Lovers any day.

There are many great documentaries. "Torture: The Dirty Buisness" -does a video on Maher Arah a Canadian kidnapped by the USA.

Also there is "Rendition" which stars Reese Witherspoon.

  • Sir, if Bush was still in office this would cause a media firestorm and a call for his head on a spike and denouncement of torture as barbaric.(which is exactly what did happen for much of his tenure) But we have THE MESSIAH, Obama as President and if he says it's okay, by God it's 110% okay!

  • *****

  • Thanks.

  • the hat is cool bro anyhow you stole my topic....wait you were first so i guess its yours damn it i hate it when that happens

  • Shit man do your own video, I don't own the idea! Post your video as a response to mine brother! We all be in this together. Glad you liked the hat.

  • I'm glad to hear it.

  • another good series of points Ted.. for those who don't like the Constitution nor are willing to adhear to it and those who are not willing to defend it can pick another country to move to.. The Constitution is the playbook and I'm in this game for life..

  • I agree absolutely.
