@liamsilva1 nice to listen the story of the song, there is even a movie I think. However, a correction must be done... it is not a "gay" but a "guy". Gays were not mentioned on songs in that time, at least no so open. But nice comparison on the lyrics "by a head" with taking the risk on betting in love, however, I think that the song has a more strong impact than the lyrics and that is why it sounds much better only instrumental (loosing the great voice of Gardel)

@naam123lol por una cabeza literally means "for a Head" the song has lyrics that tell a story, I don't know the history behind the song but por una cabeza in Spanish normally means that you won something that you were really close to lose, something like in the horses racing games when a horse win because He was ahead only by His head so he won "for a Head" I can't explain it better sorry >.>!

Cuando vi la pelicula, el tango me transporto a aquellos años. La presentación de la película y el tango abrieron la ambientación de esos dias. En la pelicula se ve una orquesta que llamó inmediatamente mi atención y lamenté que la canción no continuara. "El tango es fuerte, tiene olor a vino, sabor a muerte". It's the original recording, from 1935, shortly before he (and the lyricist Alfredo Le Pera) perished in a tragic plane crash in Columbia. He was 44 at the time. During his career, he was know as the "King of the Tango" and is widely considered to be one of the most influential persons with regards to the Tango. With out him, there would not have been a "Por Una Cabeza". Bless you, Carlitos!
