@floz336 To use the pickax, just tap the square, circle, or x button to slash your sword while you're up against a wall. Make sure you're facing it. As to the other items, I may not have gotten too far into the game, but the other ones seem to take effect upon collecting them.

That's the only conclusion I can come to.

lol namco always loves mentioning this game in many of there other tittles. mostly the tales series (of witch im a fan) especially tails of destiny ware a sub quest had you going threw the whole tower. only to fight a boss that could only be beaten by one of 3 special rods you find in game.

Ya. Well in my opinion the game starts getting very difficult from level 35 onwards. Then if you try Another Tower, levels 44 and 45 are a nightmare. In order to defeat this game you need to memorize every floor by heart and on top of that have a good reaction time against certain enemies. The Druaga Mages can be a pain in the ass.

Man, I think Namco is great. When I discovered this game in Namco Museum DS, I thought "Wow, I'm not sure if I've ever heard of this game. I can't wait to play it!", so I downloaded the Famicom version. I hated it. Then I played the arcade version. Hated that one just as much. If Hydlide was an arcade game, it would be this.

They really should have put the jet boots on level 1. I think the fact that you move so ungodly slowly through the first two levels seriously dissuades people from playing. It's a great game once you get to the boots!

I managed to beat it, with the help of a guide, of course.

How can anyone remember how to get the treasures on ALL 60 floors, although some don't have any, but still...I can only remember the first few floors' treasures.

As for Druaga himself, he got stuck walking around a corner so I got him easily, but I wished it could have been more challenging.

BTW, I am playing on the PS1 Namco Museum 3 version.
