TOO damn funky!!! NO ONE plays funk guitar and bass like Onnie and Alan - no weird chorus effects or reverb crap to mask a lack of true soul and space, just creative, DEEP in the funk playing...
To UltLiveEnt - Just so I can correct you - there is a comment which has been removed which said that this "wasn't actually the Average White Band". Some idiot claimed it was a band pretending to be them - the comment has since been removed. Don't try and educate me on AWB - my point was that there have been MANY memebers of this band throughout the years and I'm well aware that Elliot Lewis was in one of the more recent incarnations - I was merely calling out some of the more familar names.
To pau1murphy. I can't figure out the condescending tone towards mcgavin16, when clearly you don't know the original lineup of AWB.
Steve Ferrone was the replacement drummer for the original drummer, Robbie Mcintosh. Onnie Mcintyre, in this video, is the original rhythm guitarist . And Eliot Lewis is certainly no original member either, having joined them in 1989 (15 years after Pick Up The Pieces first hit).
Research before you speak, or you're as bad as Fox News...
I was there and it was amazing!!!! Obviously isn't the original line-up but it still certainly opened my eyes to funk! AWB and Tower of Power are definitely the all time legends of jazz-funk.
Haha - brilliant. I was there you muppet - yes, it's not the original line-up of the Average White Band, previously featuring Hamish Stuart, Malcolm Duncan, Roger Ball, Robbie McIntosh, Steve Ferrone and
Eliot Lewis. The band changes certain players on an almost annual basis - especially the drummer, and I've seen them live for about 15 years, every year. This is DEFINITELY *THE* Average White Band - you can clearly see Onnie McIntyre and Alan Gorrie, the 2 original founder members. Idiot ...
I learned to play by watchin Onnie & Alan here in PA (USA). They never fail to thrill when they are here regardless of the lineup, which seems to be chosen carefully. Good comment! I did enjoy Hamish back in the day though.
This song is way too infectious :-)

Well, for all you "purists" out there, I like
the Charlie Dark Remix of this song.
Alantiquity album/cd. I could never like or
understand "that knocking sound" in the original studio release.
