I was a British Paratrooper when when homos were not allowed to serve .We had a Sergeant-Major who was an excellent soldier, strict, but fair, humorous and charismatic. We had a company "smoker" one night ( a bonding social night with drinks, smokes and d-i-y cabaret). He was all over a rather nondescript young guy, who wasvery shortly promoted above his abilities, and then again. We later found out he was a poof, and he was poofing the and he was discharged.

My daughter is in the military, and she just keeps her mouth shut. She is too busy for a relationship anyway, but she wants to stay in and retire from the military. Hopefully this can be repealed so she can have a relationship without worrying about losing her career and retirement, etc.

She IS celibate now, though, so technically she is not violating DADT. But I would hate for her to have to abandon her life

Is this America? Liberty and justice for ALL? or some? The reason it's don't ask don't tell is that the MAJORITY of people in the military are gay - they need to leave their family and hometown because they are different "inside" and don't know how to deal with it.... it's one of the oldest stories in the book...
