  • WINING

  • Omg this really how you handle an acoustic guitar!

  • he looks like chase from doctor house :D

  • you have turned the guitar into a qanun!! watch?v=Hpr3htx95S4&feature=related

  • craziest fuckin bridge ive ever seen, amazing shit dude

  • great song.. his grooving kinda creep me out though hahah

  • Great song!!

Imo, the drumming could be better.

  • This is a great song but.. I don't like the fact that he uses a capo. At all. I made a song that I use at performances that has a very similar structure, but I tap to hit the high notes, while this guy just uses a capo. It makes drumming easier for him, while I have to use my elbow to drum.

  • @SirMikeys then use a capo?

  • @januto Nah drumming with my elbow is what I'm known for. I just don't like that this guy made it too easy to achieve the same sound.

  • This guy is incredible...I've played finger style guitar over 40 years and I can't even relate to how good this guy is. I mean seriously, forget the ability to play it, but the knowledge and creativity to write it...unbelievable. I'm going to go chop my hands off now....

  • 20 people have no soul.

  • What capo is that?

  • pussy magnet.

  • finger pick of destiny was used in the making of this video.

  • cappo whammy. genius.

  • I wish Michael Hedges was alive to see artists like this.

  • My favorite candyrat song since Ewan released Time 2

  • congrats on hitting the 100K mark

  • who says small handed people cant play?

  • this is just transcendent... he can not be a human being... this uberawesomeness almost makes me cry... thank you Sir that you enjoy our humble existence with your superhuman skill!

  • What a cool vibe! I wish I could play like that..And brilliant use of the capo ha too cool

  • What type of finger picks is he using? Mine won't let my fingers hit the fretboard correctly to produce good sounds.

  • @Terran156 Acrylic nails glued on, filed short enough that they don't interfere with tapping techniques.

  • @VanLarkins Oh thank you! I've never used them before, do I need to literaly super glue them on to make sure they're firm enough to play? Or is there a specific way putting them on?

  • @Terran156 I would recommend having them put on by a beauty technician to begin with, make a note of the size nails and glue then order it yourself after that. It's not difficult, I hear crazy glue does the job. Once you use nails you will never want to go back! Enjoy OvL

  • @VanLarkins Thank you so much! I have always used those plastic finger picks, and they feel very dull and unatural. :D

  • I hate the way he smiles when he plays

  • @ywed14 why? he's having a good time i think hes kind of entitled to be proud of what hes done

  • one part of it sounds a bit like classical gas

  • what make guitar?

  • @arseniyonline1234555 Stonebridge.

  • I feel like Van Larkins should have a full band behind him with this kind of talent and style. Lookin forward to the release of the album!

  • @whouston33wh Buy Myriad by Hunter Van Larkins. NOW.

  • I am so looking foreward to the solo album, can hardly wait... bring on those emotive, energetic, feeling, eathy beats and excellent musicianship mate

  • First half was definately the best, really good! The other half was kinda boring to be honest.

  • Merry Christmas guys, hope you all have fun, be good or be good at it, OvL

  • Anyone know when his solo cd will be out?

  • @adammacmillan January ; )

  • Its interesting watching him play. It creates so much energy and makes the music seem so much more alive

  • How do people come up with this stuff? its amazing! how do they learn what sounds good together? do they just doodle on their guitars? I need answers!!!?!?! lol

  • @TheAtomBuster its all about how creative your willing to get. i know that sounds really cliche, but trial and error man. i promise if you just sit down and let ring, you can do this kinda of stuff. start off with a simple beat wiht your palm and work from there :)

  • 19 people... Ugh they aren't even worth the words to describe them.

  • @ZacVrono shut the poop up

  • WOAH, good i was already sitting down.. this is clever stuff.

  • I can do that!!! (stuffs doritos in mouth)

  • Amazing! also lights must be hot in there...! lol stay cool sir

  • his wife would be happy with those wandering hands!

    gentle and exact!

  • anyone have the tabs to this song.....LOL!

  • I'm not trying to kill anything here...this song is beautiful and he is beyond talented, but how does he finger a girl with those nails?

  • @Rcmp4life Doesn't need to. chicks would be crawling allover his d*** after seeing this.

  • @YanosAldrin Wouldn't that be nice? Most chicks can't comprehend the music candyrat puts out unfortunately. They would probably be like: OMG SING.

  • @throbbingwartool I beg to differ... I know quite a few ladies who appreciate it greatly... I would assume it depends more on the person's age than the person's gender... Maybe you just need to look for slightly older women, you know, those with more refined tastes? ;)

  • @CT5Holy Yeah, you're right. Maybe when i'm older i'll come across a few. Southern California.. It's pretty self explanatory.

  • @throbbingwartool Yeah i'll admit it's wishful thinking on my part. To me, these guys are the real rock stars :-D

  • @Rcmp4life The answer is, with his left hand. You always trim those so you can fret the strings. (From experience though, guitar nails and girls do not mix well at all... but even if you scratch them a bit, and they're upset, they still let you...)

  • definitely some dope shit - reminds of me of kaki king :]

  • Like Andy Mckee smoked some really good kind bud and was groovin out

  • great song, that shit-eating grin he has in the beginning is kind of ridiculous though.

  • Damn, this song has groove.

  • i swear every time i come back to this song i try to like it again and again

  • Don't lie to us Van; you been to the damn crossroads, ain't you

  • ... shit, I can´t stop coming back and getting the chills!

    this is some heavy stuff!

  • He wiggled that capo at :30.. what a badass

  • please! Owen Van Larkins cd come out!!! :(

  • how is he playing behind his capo? ... id really like to do that aswell .

  • @ManOnEarth17 Its a partial capo. It's only covering 4 strings

  • @ManOnEarth17 Are you talking about like at 1:05? I'm not smart about this stuff. My opinion would be maybe it has to do with the resonance of his guitar?

  • well cool

  • Well the influence of your song i ear here is Antoine Dufour all the way. That's not a bad comment i'm making, it's just the way i feel your song and the way you're playing. In the other hand, you master play the guits. greats

  • strangely accurate title

  • make sheet music for this so i can learn it on the piano man

  • @Frances3654 The tabs will have the manuscript above them also. So you'll be fine! Available 1st Jan 2012 : )

  • @VanLarkins

I can't wait. My brother and I play mostly original works but this is phenomenal. Where can I get info for live shows?

  • @VanLarkins

    nice

  • amazing!

  • Great song! Does anyone know what the tuning is?

  • @Jvangastel11 DADGAD with capo on 11th fret, strings 1-4

  • anybody know where these guys learn how to play?

  • 15 people have wandering hands

  • From now he shall be called Obi Wan Larkins, because the Force is obiously with him

  • 0:30 - 0:32 what just happened there???

  • @Bcuzieatiron he strummed the strings that were before the capo :) ...pure genius

  • let me guess, that takes like 100000 hours with your guitar and a special addiction to wooden 6 strings? : ))

  • Not only is he an awesome guitarist, but he's pretty hoot. :D

  • catchy tune!

  • what is he using ??? that is not a cap what is that ???

  • @mohannad636 it's a capo alright P: he's just using a capo that covers the 4-6 strings

  • I wish there was a like, and then there was a love button. Because I don't like this song... I LOVE it! <3

  • "8=================D~~~~~~"

  • I don't get the dislikes from people. Even if you don't care for the particular song it is amazing you can't just sit back and enjoy that talented people like this exist in the world. There is something special about life that these kind of people are here and pour their heart and soul into their craft. Do us all a favor and stick that thumbs down in your butt:)

  • @papastache102 don't worry about it, 1% dislike of *anything* is about as successful as a thing can be :D

  • I'm considering filming a tutorial of this song. Anyone interested?

  • @Persicutor Me! You'd help me a lot because I was trying to figure it myself :)

  • @Persicutor Uhm. Yeah.

  • Comment removed

  • @Persicutor YES!

  • @Persicutor me for sure :D

  • @Persicutor Did you make it? if soo post link here please?

  • @Persicutor .....yaaaaw.

  • @Persicutor , yes

  • One thing... the tone at 2:05?

    But...

OMG! This is brilliant! How about making a vocal cover of this with hmm... Adele?

  • @biffN whats wrong with that chord? just wondering :)

  • genial!!

  • how could anyone dislike this...badass!

  • is a prs??

  • @CammiluchaVs Stonebridge

  • I'd like to have tabs for that :O I want to learn this so freakin hard!!! <3 Inform me if some one got them :D Cheers!

  • Fabulous guitar playing

  • holy F#%!

  • when i first heard this it kind of sounded like just a collection of riffs he had come up with thrown together randomly, but the more i listen to it, the more it flows. can't wait to hear the rest of your stuff!

  • This is amazing.

  • Im literally shitting myself with worry that there might be no tab for this after release.

  • @CloudysGuitarChannel There will be, I promise ; )

  • @VanLarkins You can tell much you LOVE to play guitar! I hope to be as good as you one day . . . Or maybe even signed to Candyrat along with you! Thats my dream

  • What strings are you capo'ing in the firs 2:40 of the song? And then what ones are you capo'ing from then on? That doesn't seem like a capo that is capoing all of the strings or even the bottom few strings.

  • If this makes you want to quit playing guitar, you're playing for all the wrong reasons. If anything this should inspire you.

  • That crazy what he heard

  • if someone says "what are you doing in andy mckee's house?" i fucking swear to god... just enjoy the damn song

  • @avlkush what are you doing in andy mckee's house?

  • i didn't know jason manford was into finger style

  • I don't want to wait until the end of 2011, can you just release his album now?!

  • аааааааааааааааааааа

  • Cara vc toca MUITO BEM.Queria tocar assim.

  • thats not a paradox its low self-esteem

  • Incredibly appropriate title. Incredible execution.

  • This makes me hate myself for being so shit at guitar.

But I can't stop listening to it.

  • good gawd man. thank you!

  • The breakdown at 2:07 is fucking brilliant man, as is the rest of the song. Looking forward to the release of the CD

  • Damn:|. Is there a technique this guy has NOT mastered?

    Loving it.

  • Excellent, O. Waiting on the edge. Peace! Mike

  • This song covers so much ground musically, it's so many things and yet seems to keep moving!

  • @TheBigD13 I agree.

  • muy muy bueno

  • oh yeah ihihihiii!!!

  • Very nice.

  • you are amazing

    Thumbs Up !

  • Owen: Thanks for responding. Would you consider posting a workshop, also, where you would simply tell us how you come up with your musical ideas and show us how you translate them to your guitar, what tuning and chordings you use. Sort of an informal, but instructional chat with your fans, of which I am one. That would be very helpful and certainly most informative and would allow us to get to know you and your musical style that much better. Thanks, Mike

  • @mtischler1 I will post these sort of videos after the release of the album for sure! All the best, O.

  • I'll do my own version of this piece but I'll name it instead wankering hands, I hope you can see why:P

  • 12 people got caught with wandering hands...

  • Fantastic sound and variety!

  • What are you doing in Andy's room?

  • @ZeroALLEY Just chillin'

  • Somehow I recalled Morrowind, hmm...

  • I don't know if it's because of Andy Mckee or candyrat itself but this song seems to be easy to learn...

  • @Edfoster Yea, I think so too

  • Well done enjoyed it. Nice to see this style being played and keeping a tune instead of playing the same thing over and over again. We like it.

  • So much technique... rly awesome

  • 0:12 pedo smile i liek it :3

  • dude his reactions and faceial expressions were so cool ^^

  • Why are there always guitarists like him and making me sound like shit on my guitar?! ;) Great song!

  • hey yo where's hunter xP

  • If you're giving someone flack for using a tuning that you're familiar with then you need to re-prioritize what makes a good solo acoustic piece.

  • Hey Owen. Thanks. I've heard DADGAD before, but you give it a new dimension all of it's own. I've not tried it yet, tho I've been playing for over 50 years. Your phasing is really melodic. You sure can string words, phrases, and sentences together. I'm really glad you're sharing it. Peace! Mike.

  • my guitar popped a boner at 3:45. i dig the Hunter Van Larkins stuff, but I like the solo stuff just as much, i knew he was good but not this good.

  • omg please marry me *__*

  • where the hell is candyrat finding all these amazing people??

  • @MrOlliguitar I agree. Though I admit there are many Andy McKee clones out there.

  • Nice Capo Idea.... it's a shame for me because I don't think I could do it with my type of capo, but this video really makes me want to come up with my own style! ^_^

  • new awesome guy :)

  • This shit just got soooo real Bryan.

  • Amazing and what a ingenious way of using the capo:-)

  • 好聽,給你鼓掌^^

  • Excluding the part where it focuses on percussioning the guitar its awesome. That feels totally out of place same tempo or not.

  • @herolaubet IMO the perc part the transition is just a bit rough. but for me its the harmonic part at the end where is out of place. really dont do it for me. maybe hes telling a story we dont know.

  • Great ideas in this video...

  • yeah, the first half was amazing but you lose momentum with the drumming part.

  • @Jornibo he was still in beat..he was using a syncopated rhythm that crossed with amalgamation thus causing him to still be in sync with his tempo....i believe Sergio Altamura also used the same technique in his Villagio Globale song

  • It's a little all over the place but still good.
