As for the pain level, I am only requiring breakthrough pain management, as opposed to 3 years of baseline and breakthrough. Definitely much less pain than prior to the surgery!!! If I try to lift something too heavy, or am up for too long, I pay for it in pain, so I am not yet all the way better, but so much better than before the surgery.
Thanks for the feedback:) Hi guys:)) My Neurosurgeon is Dr. Stanley Antolak Jr.. He is a retired Mayo Surgeon, and currently works in Edina, Minnesota. I am now 4 months out of surgery, and moving better than I have in 10 years. Dr.Antolak gave me a "tune-up" last week, as I was having a return of sharp pain every thirty seconds. This nerve block hurt more than before the surgery, but has lasted longer. I am still being cautious, and not "over-doing" it.
Much better at 9 months post-op - the deep internal burning remains gone. Not cured yet, but continued improvement, working on peripheral pain with PT, etc. Max benefit is 12-18 months from surgery.
@rjrin2011 I have been having perineum pain for the past nine years. I just made an appointment with Dr. Hibner's office in January. I was wondering, were you given the pedendual nerve "block" prior to your surgery to diagnose PNE? If so, how long did the injections last (or work at all)? I was curious how you are doing now? Are you able to sit without pain? Mostly my pain comes from sitting. How bad was your pain prior to the surgery? Sorry for all the questions.
I had this surgery two weeks ago, and am doing pretty well. I am still very sore though, so I decided to do some research as to what exactly went on while I was under the knife. This is an incredible video, you did a great job of illustrating the pudenal nerve. How are you doing now?
