My cat was one of those who had the disease without knowing for years. One day I found her gasping for air, lying helplessly on her side. She was rushed to a animal hospital, had two needles clear the fluids that was crushing her lungs (like drowning). She lived for 2 more weeks, then the fluid came back fast. She was crying and gasping again. She was supposed to be put down at the VET, instead she died in my arms on the table. How it broke my heart to see her suffer so much! This was 3 days ago.
My kitten had FIP :(. His condition got worse and worse starting in December when we noticed his stomach getting much larger. We originally treated for and hoped that it was worms, but we had to put him down on Tuesday. I miss Tut so much, what a horrible disease, I really hope there are scientists working on this so that no cat ever has to suffer from it again.
My kitty Franny was diagnosed with this today. Her little belly is fat and she still as playful as ever. We're having her put down tomorrow and I feel like the grim reaper. I know it's better to put her down, but I feel horrible.
i just had to put my 5 month old kitten down because of this :( hardest most painful decision of life, but it was the right thing to do. poor baby's belly was all puffed up :(
I got my kitten on march 27th 2008 he was 10 months old I had to have him put down today he was suffering so much over the last 5 days he quit eating and drinking and sleeping all day and night after 2 days at the vet we got him back his belly was bloated and he could not use his back legs any more the vet said he had F.I.P. it was so sudden and he was miserable vet said he would have died in a few days anyway I could not bear to see him suffer any more
I'm so sorry about your cat. I lost my seven-month-old kitten about two and a half months ago from FIP. It's really awful, watching your cat waste away and knowing there's nothing you can do.
Nice topic, too bad she didn't differentiate between FIV, meaning the virus is present, and AIDS, which generally means some disease process is present. FIV cats can live very long times without illness.
good video, very important information for all cat/kitten owners :) I had a cat who was FIV positive, he lived with the disease for more than 10 years, was completely strong and healthy his entire laugh and passed away at the age of 18 from a completely unrelated stroke. FIV is absolutely not neccessarily a death sentence for cats :)
