  • how tall can one person be... this outfit makes Stephen's arms/legs even more freakishly long than usual lol

  • 0:28 Stephen's eyebrows look soooo plucked? but did they even do that to actors back then? :)

  • Fantastic. Those people were and are staggeringly talented.

  • Oh god, Stephen in this, hhhnnggg..

  • I actually got out Troilus and Cressida and read it with him :D

I had a different edition though and the speech wasn't on the same page...

  • Yes, I'm excited indeed!!

  • Stephen is SO gorgeous here. The greatest loss to womankind ever.

  • I have to say it. Stephen Fry was completely and utterly lovable at that age and CUTE!

  • This is a perfect parody of drama school.

  • God Stephen fry makes me weak in the knees. Gay or not..he's my dream man.

  • @soultaker30 Here, here!! :)

  • @soultaker30 Plus he had very nice calves from the looks of things :)

  • Comment removed

  • Fry was born in 57 so by 82 he was 25.

    Not so appealing now he?

  • Hugh laurie is so cute :)

  • Eeek, who in Holy Greece is that gorgeously pale, toweringly tall, fine-legged, port-sipping Byronesque turtleneck God? Oh my, it's Stephen Fry. I'm only half way through my first cup of morning joe and I'm rather tempted to go back to bed ... bringing my laptop with me, of course. "Honey, it's over. Oh, don't cry. It's not you ... but it's not me, either. It's a vintage Stephen Fry".

  • @ostellamaria

Except you know he's gay right?

  • The shakespeare sketch reminds me of english lessons on poetry, one word does not mean all they teach you, the poet chose it just because it fits

  • I just noticed on IMDB that Penny Dwyer died in 2003 of "a long illness." It doesn't say anything else about it, and very little else about her. Very sad. :(

  • I'm in the process of reading 'The Fry Chronicles' and 'The Cellar Tapes' is listed as a huge turning point in the careers of these young people - the youngsters in this performance are signed to an agent because of it. Pretty thrilled I get to see this!

  • oh Stephen!

  • Just to back up Microburts comment. I find myself watching this ( and many other clips) because I'm halfway through 'The Fry Chronicles', it's a brilliant book and I highly recommend reading it and then coming back to view some clips.

  • @stratmanuk It's a wonderful book! The very same reason I'm watching this, as it so happens.

  • Wow...HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! Hehehehe....

  • i love that stephen smoked a pipe even at uni

  • @Flickerfly and hugh.

  • 1:19 The scene of the dancing is hilarious! LOL

  • he look's so graceful and sophisticated in a turtle neck :)

  • I agree with the comments! These guys are and were great. I've been reading Stephen Fry's autobiography which sheds light on all this. They got an agent just from doing the Footlights stuff at the Edinburgh Fringe!

  • COMEDY HAS CHANGED SO MUCH. IT'S HARD TO FIND ANYTHING AS INTELLIGENT AS THIS TODAY. IN THE TRADITION OF MONTY PYTHON AND PETER COOK AND DUDLEY MOORE. AS WORDY AS THE TWO RONNIES BUT ALSO WITH ELEMENTS OF SLAPSTICK HARKING BACK TO THE VARIETY OR MUSIC HALL. NOWADAYS A COMIC STANDS UP AND CALLS THE AUDIENCE A BUNCH OF C**TS.

  • you've no idea what i would give to have gone to cambridge with hugh laurie, stephen fry and EMMA THOMPSON. mostly emma thompson. haha

  • In the credits, Stephen merely looks like a caricature of himself :p. Hugh looks apologetic for finding himself in the camera's view, and Emma just looks unbelievably stunning!

  • Tony was gorgeous back then!

  • i made the terrible mistake of taking a huge gulp of red hot tea at 7:23 and nearly died!

  • Lololololol Hugh Laurie looks WAAY Better as house XD

  • emma thompson is hotttttt

  • @febrero159 I would

  • Tony dancing in that sketch seems like the inspiration behind Louie Spence...

  • How could anyone possibly dislike this!!!

  • I actually think the dancing sketch was very funny too. Quick and sharp and wonderfully simple.

  • @uncleangus It's simple and sharp, but it works largely due the brilliant absurdity of Tony's dancing.

  • This is the absolute most fantastic introduction I have ever seen.

  • "Gathering from the buttocks." I can't not chuckle at that

  • Amusing as the Shakespeare sketch is, it's way too long.

  • Stephen has amazing legs.

  • I'd love to see a bit of fry naked right there. God he is beautiful.

  • stephen's "whoawhoawhoawhoa" at around 5:22 reminded me of dr zoidberg :)

  • STEPHEN FRY IS BRILLIANT!

  • such a strange sight 3:04 ... stephen wearing plain black socks

  • @Flickerfly and moist <3

  • 8:25 is the beginning of my favorite part!

  • hey i have a pipe just like that and i'm at a university. all i need now is a camera and some cool jogging clothes and i'm halfway to fame :D

  • @Flickerfly and fluffy and pink and moisty :D

  • "Wantonness?" I can't blame him for coming up with that when face to face with a young Stephen Fry in a turtleneck.

  • Why on earth does Stephen look 20 years older than everyone else? I feel he just doesn't age.. hit his peak at puberty and just stopped there. :|

  • For a university production, this is incredibly professional....!

  • @Flickerfly he didn't think he was. But he was wrong.

  • Stephen at 2:33

    *melts*

  • Tony Slattery and Stephen Fry, when they were my age? *drool*

  • 0:34 Baby House haha

  • at 8:42, the german flag is upside down :D

  • Fry shows such ease and an impressive self-confidence, and he's only 24-25. Alhough the British public schools are outdated and sadistic, inculcating in an entire class of Britons a lack of compassion and a permanently confused and troubled sexuality, it certainly does produce young adults with tremendous competence and "sang-froid". It's easy to see how products of the system expect to be the "smartest people in the room", and assume they will always run whatever activity in which they engage

  • I never knew Stephen Fry used to be SO SEXY.

(Charming, yes. Cute, of course. But hothothot? I am pleasantly surprised *drolls*)

  • Emma looks so stunning!! haha. Hugh looks so cute ^_^ ... and Stephen is just King.

    <3

  • Emma!

  • Stephen Fry is SUCH A LEGEND!!!

  • emma's a hottie here

  • Gosh, Stephen looks good...

  • ha ha ha! gitta love british humour

  • i was admiring the anonymous white shorts runner in the opening then i realised it was Stephen. I lol'd. Then I watched it over again...

  • @moonmatter ? You are extremely weird... Hahahah..

  • @LaSeuleEtoile Try to use question marks at the end of sentances-makes you look slightly less inept

  • @moonmatter Not exactly. You see, people who go from day to day without poles shoved up their backsides can realise that that question mark is a shorter and more polite form of WHAT THE FUCK.

Oh, and you tell me that I look inept? You can't even bloody spell, so shut your trap m'dear, there's a love.

  • @LaSeuleEtoile I'm sure you know those people you pretentious cunt (that's a polite form of question mark). Shut your pie hole-your grammar is crap. Inept!

  • @moonmatter Oh get a grip...

  • hugh is HOT

  • You can tell which legs are Laurie's because his have the enormously muscular thighs xD

  • I wish there was a recording of "A Kick in the Stalls"! (1975-76)

  • Thank you so much for sharing this. Absolutely brilliant.

  • Hugh is and Steven is gay.

  • Stephen Fry was so ridiculously attractive back then. So handsome! Him and Hugh Laurie were a pair of Genii even back then.

  • Stephen Fry still is so ridiculously attractive!

  • cute little young faces! I was like 'ok, I've seen Stephen and Hugh so young, but WOW that's Tony??'

  • omg love !!!! i loves it man :L

are hughs eyes brown here :O

  • Hahahaha...a very nice parody of Chariots of Fire in the intro. And Stephen Fry smoking his pipe all innocent like was awfully sweet. They all look so young here! And this is the reason why I would love to go to Cambridge...

  • I can't believe these two are what...22? 23??? Look at males that age today...they're...BOYS!!! And will probably be so for much longer!!!

Bu these two...they were probably born MEN!!! WHERE HAVE ALL THE MEN GONE???? Bring them back!!!!

  • right on!

  • @Eilatj Amen, sister

  • @Eilatj Oh my God, what an incredible comment, so true, I'm in awe of you!

  • @Eilatj Stephen was 26. But still!

  • @Eilatj Amen to that.

  • @Eilatj you are right. I couldn't agree with you more.

  • @Eilatj In fairness Stephen was 26 and Hugh was 24

  • I was just about to upload this - good job I checked. ;-)

  • look at all the manly running!

  • the german flag was upside down....lol

  • WHOa, emma thompson was hawt!

  • Lmao, I love how his eyebrows go up when he says,"I hope so, too!" He's always had such great facial expressions, esp. with his eyebrows! Mm mm!

  • ive never noticed how tall stephen an hugh are

  • No, no, no, alas, I fear you mew it like a frightened tree

    lol

  • Oh my GOD, I have never seen Stephen Fry looking so young and svelte!

  • and hot....

  • I wonder why they put the German flag upside down in the chess bit.

  • Flying a flag upside down is an international distress signal.

  • Absolutely love the beginning.

  • Stephen's character in this reminds me of my AP English teacher... he used to have us read the New Yorker and try to find a deeper literary meaning in the placement of the full-page vodka ads within the layout of the magazine.

  • I love Hugh's shoes

  • "Off-book!!!!" XD This is hilarious!!

  • God, at 0:55 Emma Thompson looks ablsoutely wonderful!!! I mean, it's not unusual about her, but she is stunning here:).

  • Tony's dancing is so adorable.

  • tony is adorable.

  • Shakespeare's 'time' very much upper case, isn't it?

  • the shakespeare sketch is very similar to what hugh does in blackadder 3rd where hes prince george...

  • you mean "ROOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR unaccustomed as I am..."

    ?

  • Hugh Laurie was a real cutie in his younger days, but he has gotten more attractive nowadays (despite House's beard).

His big, blue eyes are incomparible.

  • I will never be able to hear or say the word Time without chuckle.

  • "Wantedness?"

    "No, leave wantedness out, Hugh"

It's hilarious, one funny piece of them this sketch. I always liked it very much, one of the first sketch with them that crossed my way.

Stephen is so condescending in this... it's great...

  • Sorry to be stickler, but he's saying, "wantonness", actually.

  • Oh, thankyou. I'm not a native-speaker so I had no idea, I just try to catch the word, but sometimes I fail. Nice of you to say that, I want to improve my favourite-language...

  • I ADORE the Shakespeare Master Class!

"What sort of spelling of the word time is that?"

  • thanks for sharing !!
