the reason Tech was more worthy was because they were undefeated with 1 tie, colorado had a loss. but this is why the BCS is an improvement over the old bowl system (playoffs would be better though)
It does not matter what guitarman says about who colorado beat. At the end of the day they had a loss, and should of had two. Everyone watching knew it was fifth down, and that major blunder helped Colorado win a game that they should have lost. Either way its 19 years later and Tech is 2-0 and CU is 0-2.
@southernmagnus It was decided on the field - Folsom Field in Boulder, where Colorado scored a winning TD on fifth down against Nebraska to preserve an undefeated season. But for that, Tech wins outright.
You're absolutely right path...if I remember, GA Tech beat #1 Virginia (with Herman Moore) and then stomped Nebraska in the Citrus Bowl. Colorado didn't even SCORE with that 5th down in Missouri and yes, Rocket Ismail's TD was totally legit...should've been 16-10 Notre Dame instead of 10-9 Colorado. It's too bad...that was the first great underdog story I saw as a kid...Bobby Ross truly worked miracles in the early 90s (got the Chargers to the Super Bowl too...that says a lot!)
We were robbed! The AP voters conveniently forgot that Colorado were given five downs on the goal line to 'beat' Missouri and needed a bogus clipping penalty call against Notre Dame (on Rocket Ismail's punt return for an apparent game winning touchdown) to 'win' their share of 1990's mythical national championship. How could one writer put the Yellow Jackets FIFTH on his ballot?

@CobaltMan6 Also, Colorado's loss was against a horrible Illinois team.

I remember being a very sad 8 year old when I heard this score. But Nebraska won 4 national championships in the next 8 years, so I guess it's ok

@dvonh2 Four? Nebraska won it 1994 and 1995 and split it in 1997. Two and a half.

they got robbed in 1993. So yes, 4

colorado also had 5 downs

Oh and I almost forgot....Nebraska played Tech with great weather and it didn't seem to help them...so not a valid point.

This is just the insanity of letting coaches/journalists decide championships. It should be decided on the field.

@antimatterXXXIII It was a 5th down score, but it was against Mizzu.

@southernmagnus damn straight. Once we get a playoff, we'll be hitting ourselves saying why didn't do this before

Splitting the championship by voting is gay. CU and georgia tech should play for the title, AP vs Coaches (UPI)
