That was cool! This is a wonderful use of your voice, reading poetry! If that were a PAID JOB, you'd be PERFECT for it! *sigh* I love your accent. :D
I can definitely relate to the surreality of this poem. XD I love your visuals (in all your vidoes — how do you make them?), and the way you used them for this poem was great. Perfect emulation of the poem's strangeness.
@TheEyesOfNye Lol, well that chick who wrote Mushi-shi would say it's because we've forgotten how to close our second eyelid. XD It probably has to do with the fact that our brains never shut the hell up.
i see a heart and brain was behind this, with all its passion. and that i only but the thing a great poet needs is hes searh to find inner and utter peace.
I have scotopic sensitivity disorder (irlen syndrome - neurological degenerate disease that gives "poor light interpretation" ) so the dancing apparitions are very familiar...
I wrote a poem about a clock once, LOL, short and sweet:
This was weird, like the time Dirty Harry was a dealer at the black jack table (flashback) "...you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?"
I fell asleep yesterday afternoon while watching the dark knight and had a dream that there was a new scene on the dvd where Bruce Wayne was fixing his jet ski with a kinda yuppie sweater tied around his sweaters, and obsessively speaking all of the Joker's lines.
Thank you so much for this gift. It is an honour to have your voice among the other great contributions. I should have known you would take the opportunity to make art out of not just the words but also the visuals. This is gorgeous and chilling. Get well soon, dear friend. You are missed. <3
Dear Sophie, that means a lot. Thank you. I'm delighted you enjoyed it - it's a wonderful project to be a part of. I think I'm over the worst now, and there's a huge bread and butter pudding with my name on it downstairs, which I'm sure will help keep my strength improving(!)
Wow. I really like that poem. Its pretty much how I woke up this morning (after a weird dream with Derren Brown, a prostitute and some green minced beef loaded into a mini-bus?).
hmm, I get that effect when I closed my eyes and softly rubbed my eyelids with my fists, I wonder whats going on to cause it, its cool but i wonder if theres any danger in doing it over a long time, not exactly pixels but its a close description
This poem reminds me of when I was a kid and I'd get crazy phosphenes/entopic lights/hypnopompic hallucinations before sleep some nights. The stuff of incubi and succubi...
Beautiful aren't they, bowlsallbroken - those hallucinations. I still get weird things happening as I wake up from time to time when I become conscious while still sleep-paralysed. A couple of weeks ago, I could 'feel' a cat walking on the bed (we don't have cats). The stuff of incubi indeed! ;^>
I woke up one morning to a hypnopompic hallucination of a very big spider walking across the same exact route across my pillow several times in a row.
It's funny how detached these things are from emotional response; Not that I have a phobia or anything but a real giant spider on my pillow would certainly be startling.
I ask because I suppose I (we?) percieve the experience as being a cat (as opposed to another similarly sized animal) because I assume it is a result of recalling a memory of this happening in the past (I used to have a cat). (I would assume if I had owned an iguana, that's what I would experience, or no pets at all; the experience would not have happened)
@Oecleus I would assume lids would be eyelids. So he's talking about moments ago before he wakes up singing. He was dreaming, and his dream was a light show basically on the back of his eye lids. That's just my interpretation.
try closing your eyes and then rubbing them with your fists, just a little pressure will do, it may take a bit but you'll see something similar to the pixel effect, remember reading something on it on wikipedia were a couple artist depictions and I was like Oh cool so thats what that is.
That was really good. I especially liked the lightshow on the back of lids part.

Why do we see those strange colours and patterns when we close our eyes tightly or massage our closed eyes with the palms of our hands?

I wrote a poem about a clock once, LOL, short and sweet:
"Clock, you move so fast,
Minute, minute, minutes pass.
Hours and hours, days and days.
New memories are made,
Like dreams, they fade."

very nice. you created some really neat imagery with just a few words, and it was a nice way to build off the idea of the previous line

Try closing your eyes and pushing on them with your fingertips.
smorgasbordofpie 2 years ago
Exactly, one can "see" really weird psychedelic images by doing that without the need to actually take drugs.
wOoL87 2 years ago
If you have taken drugs the term weird does not apply to what you see by applying pressure to your eyes.

Have you ever owned a cat?
I ask because I suppose I (we?) percieve the experience as being a cat (as opposed to another similarly sized animal) because I assume it is a result of recalling a memory of this happening in the past (I used to have a cat). (I would assume if I had owned an iguana, that's what I would experience, or no pets at all; the experience would not have happened)
or maybe my dead cats are haunting me... Lol
TheFifthApes 2 years ago
I have owned a cat, and what you say makes a lot of sense. After all, we have tactile sensations when we dream, don't we.
"or maybe my dead cats are haunting me"
Lol! Which is even scarier when you consider each cat would probably have 9 ghosts(!)
