Do you know the amount of bands I would purchase if it wasn't for the fact that the great music is ruined by some bloke growling and screaming into the mic. Hundreds. Please start singing or just leave it instrumental.
@lakai944 I appreciate your comment. However you cannot get used to growling - believe me I've listened to loads. I don't mind a throaty, husky type vocal like James Hetfield of Metallica where you can actually hear a melody line in what he is singing but when it's just awful non-sensical yelling and growling it just ruins the whole music. I'm pleased to see more bands now beginning to sing more - Opeth's latest album is all clean singing now after years of death growling.
@lakai944 I appreciate your comment, but there is no way you can appreciate or understand growling as it doesn't fit into music. I've listened to many and it doesn't get better, if anything worse. I'm pleased to see now that many bands who used the death growling vocals are now using clean singing like Opeth for example.
@jmsbk12345 Its the contrast between clean singing and growling that I like the most. But to say that that growling is never fits the music is completely subjective. Music is an outward expression of something that comes from within. I rarely enjoy vocals that sound human (esp. in metal). This means growls and clean singing, its all a reflection of the state of being the band is trying to express. Since you mention Opeth, imagine Still Life's growling parts with an opera singer. It wouldn't fit
this music remindms me a lot of Death.

@jmsbk12345 I highly recommend learning to appreciate growling then...clean singing just wouldn't make sense once you understand growling
