Me volví "adicta" a Petra gracias a un amigo que me prestó un casete, un casete!!!!!!! Mi amigo murió hace 17 años y no puedo evitar llorar cada vez que escucho a Petra.. Amo su música.
most "Christian Rock" bands of this time period sucked, honestly. Poor production quality and very lame song writing almost destroyed the genre. With the exception of Stryper, Petra was the BEST sounding, best recorded Christian rock band in the 80s. Had their focus been more to reach secular audiences, I truly believe Petra could have done with AOR (Journey, Foreigner, etc) what Stryper did and does with the hard rock audience (Poison, Whitesnake, etc)
By the way, this song is really for the endtimes! Look at what's happening in the Middle-East! These nations are gonna unite together to attack their common enemy: Israel! Unknowingly, they're walking into God's trap! And despite what many people say about the year 2012, God has the Whole World in His hands!
I've been a fan for 18 years and counting. Didn't realize their greatness until they announced their farewell tour. Thank you Bob, Greg, John S., John L., Mark, Ronnie and Louie.
one of the 'old school' christian bands (and, the best of the bunch, in my opinion!) 33+yrs of positive rock glorifying everyone's Father, GOD!!!! This song is a reminder of GOD's eternal love and grace
I learned English translating Petras' songs. I listened this song many times before going to school. It has been almost 15 years of this and it brings to me sweet
I was at their very last concert, and I still love them I wore out there tapes but thanks to amazon I have been able to get them on cd. and you are wright their is no one like them. I have to kids now and i have shown them the Petra vieos and they love it and they are only 8 and 10. Petra still reaching the youth there there videos.
Petra is inspired of God's word and spirit. Since 1989 I've been listening to PETRA. Now I'm 47 years...Their music and words always feed my heart and soul and help me to seek Jesus alltimes, everywhere und get sure HE is with me, also in times, when we don't "feel" HIM. As PETRA sings, salvation is not a feeling.. I'n so glad to find so much videos and songs of them. 2 years ago, there was only a few...
I've never found a band that sounds like petra. I was 13 when I first got into them Im 33 years old now and have listened to so many different bands but nobody writes music for a lyrical melody better than bob.
@earworm He's sure a gem of a saint and may the Lord raise up more lyrically blessed saints to help feed our next generations to Love the Lord in music that can not only be heard but understood...lyrics really mean alot when it comes to lifting up the King of Kings...
@earworm You took the words right out of my mouth, you know! The only other band that energizes me as much as Petra is Stryper. There are no other bands around that call themselves Christians AND actually sing about CHRIST!!! Maybe all these modern bands should be Xtians - just like XMAS when they took CHRIST out of Christmas! Put on all his armor and fight the good fight, brothers!

Outside of the Christian music world, I would personally say that Def Leppard sounds a lot like them (or vice versa). At least, I would say that the "Beyond Belief" is a lot like Leppard stuff.
Ah Petra at its best...don't you feel like dancing on this!!!haha I miss those guys...but thanks for the great years and for rocking my world with the great Lord...God bless you bros and sis. Take care
Also, the guitarist, with the way he's dressed and kind of how he looks, reminds me a bit of Roger Glover from Deep Purple and Rainbow, except Roger's a bassman. ;)
I loved this song back in the mid-80's ... also huge Petra fan. While the fears may be labeled differently today,God does have the whole world in His hands. This song is such a great reminder.
La primera canción que escuché de Petra fue la de amigos en la versión español y me fascinó sobremanera que lo hice parte de mi diario vivir por mucho tiempo y creo que ha sido una de las bandas que me ayudó a emprender la jornada en el cristrianismo.
Musically, awesome. But as a video, you must admit, it leaves much to be desired. That being said, as a Torontonian, I am pleased by the video's setting.
John is indeed an awesome singer on this album. The vocals are tight, the musicianship in general is awesome. I loved this album when it came out in '86. And even if I no longer subscribe to the theology, I do appreciate the music.
i was a petra fan as a young boy in the early 80's. they were the first concert I went to at 8 years old (more power to ya tour). This is one of their best songs! I am so happy to have found the video- thanks for uploading this!
this is a great song and i think is better than others secular bands i thank God for Petra because they have impacted and encoureged my life for many years,i was 6 years old when this album came out.
I agree, John has a truly awesome voice. When compared with secular rock bands, they don't come close. I do like to listen to songs with Greg singing sometimes, they are nice for a change. I also listen to lots of other music, but despite checking out many many other bands Petra remains at the top.
Hi Dollye, yes I do know and it's really no big secret, after spending so much time on the road with the band touring, he left to spend more time with his family, and of course to pursue a solo career. This was 1985. John Schlitt, the voice you're now hearing, came in 1986 and would stay for the duration, until 2006. "And only He knows where the sparrow lands...."
Greg joined up again in 2005 for the farewell tour, singing Grave Robber, among others.
John got the best voice I've ever heard! if it wasnt for him I dont think I would start to listen to Petra around christmas.(Im not saying Greg dont got a good voice)
4 people are uptight fundamentalists who didn't like the smoking in the video.
